  1. I have a friend (mother of 11) who has a really need website and a room inspection form. This really helps kids know exactly what is meant by "clean your room". http://www.flandersfamily.info/bedroom.html That said, my dd15 is a crafter/seamstress/collector etc and I have to close my eyes often to allow her some space for her "creativity":)
  2. The pictures right after the birth of my last baby show a racoon!! I need a water(tear)proof mascara. I don't use it normally cause I like to just wash my face at night and can never get it all off. Yes, I do need mascara-I am a redhead with almost clear lashes and I want to look alive during and after labor. Any suggestions? The choices are many:bigear:
  3. Just wondering if everyone gives their newborn Vit. K at birth. I always have, but now looking into the reason and if I will with this one. Thanks
  4. Oh friend you are not alone!!! I am 35 weeks and suffering!!!! It seems like if I get something done one day, I can do nothing the next day. AND-we are going to the beach for the wkd for one last family time before we are homebound for awhile, but we have to take clothes, food, linen, paper goods, beach stuff etc and it seems so overwhelming. Praying here too for a burst of energy to get it all cleaned before baby comes-----------and then enjoy #4 :001_smile:
  5. I am about 34 weeks. I have recently joined e-mealz and love it! Makes shopping sooo much easier. My 15dd can follow the directions and make any of the meals I need her to. Dave Ramsey says it reduces your food bill too. So far, we have had very little we didn't care for. The menu is on the fridge and I don't have to worry about it. Also, I put only the ingredients for this weeks meals in our small kitchen pantry and store the other cans etc, that I have under my bed :)
  6. Both of my kids that age like Mighty Machines alot-some are on Instant viewing. They learn alot too.
  7. My oldest has first ten years of cherished teddies (packed away now). Nothing for ds. But, dd3 has the baby and year one of the Enesco Birthday Girls (Not 2 or 3 yet). Since we have another baby coming soon, I am trying to decide whether or not to keep up with the b-day girls, or just sell them now and not worry with it. I am sentimental, but already overwelmed with scrapbooks, and baby books not finished.
  8. What is a good age to try this? My ds is almost 5 and never has had a dry night.
  9. Edith Schaeffer's The Hidden Art of Homemaking is a classic. http://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Art-Homemaking-Edith-Schaeffer/dp/0842313982
  10. Michael's Craft stores here carry Dot markers and coloring books (I make copies over and over). They are reasonable when you use a 40% off coupon.
  11. My daughter (10th gr) has been asked by her ballet teacher(whom we have been with for 8 years) to be an assistant in two of the younger student classes. This would involve 2 1/2 hours per week. Do you guys see this as something to give a 1/2 credit for (2.5 X 36=90 hours) ? The other half credit would be going for sewing.
  12. We are about to start Notgrass Am. and loved Notgrass World last year!
  13. I grew up near Waco. Have lived in SC and Grand Rapids, MI. Now we live were Dh grew up in East Texas. Lots of Homeschoolers. We live in a quiet neighborhood, but very near a decent mall, grocery stores and just about anything you could ask for in the restaurant department (including Bodacious BBQ-but not Panderas :( Almost everyone around would say they were Christian, although we don't see the commitment level we saw in MI. We have several nice local things to do, but my complaint is not many day or overnight family trips close by like we had in SC. My parents live in DFW and I do not care for the traffic etc at all. It is HOT here===alot!! Bugs love it here, but so do all kinds of birds. I can't grow anything outside for the life of me because we don't have an automatic sprinkler system. Ecomony is very good here-my Dh is self-employed and an associate pastor and things have gotten bad financially for only a few people we know. We are looking for a church all over the country and I know we couldn't find a comparible house for what we paid for this one. It makes me sad to think of leaving my family and Texas if we have to, but Dh is ready for his own church. Best things about Texas--Blue Bell Ice Cream, Clean Cities, Nice Roads, Cowboy hats, Relaxed homeschool laws, lots of Tex-Mex, People at grocery stores etc will talk to you, did I say Blue Bell?:D
  14. Maybe thyroid problem after preg. http://thyroid.about.com/cs/pregnancy/a/postpartum.htm
  15. Due with #4 on Nov. 6. Two sonograms, but baby is breech and we can't tell the sex:confused:
  16. Thank you guys so much-probably will go with the FP one now because it does seem more "girly" than the wooden ones and that's what I was going for. When we asked her what kind of party she wanted (plates etc), she said "Princesses or Monster Trucks"
  17. Youngest dd is about to turn 3. She plays well with ds4's cars, blocks, tools etc. but we would like to something just for her (not that he couldn't play too). I have looked at the Melissa and Doug playhouse that is all wooden and the Fisher-Price Loving Family one. They are very different and I am just not sure what would be played with the most. Anybody have one that kids really like alot?
  18. You are not alone! The other day my dd2 opened my contact case and put them in the potty!
  19. I would make a sorry survialist-I am just trying to prepare for a couple of weeks in case there was a run on the stores (storm, flu, etc) , or I just didn't want to get out after the baby. During which time I just know I would HAVE to have a chocolate cake:lol: Thanks ladies for the links!
  20. Trying to make a list of emergency stuff to have on hand and not sure I have ever even seen dried eggs. If they stores were empty would you just not do cakes, pancakes, etc?
  21. ok thanks--i took off who said it at the beginning, but I get it now
  22. I too do not take new infants to church and will probably wait even longer with this one. Really I was wondering what kind of crowds preg. moms are avoiding.:bigear:
  23. I am not due till Nov. too, but wondering what do you guys consider a crowd? Church?-My DH is one of the pastors, so we always go(around 120 people and dd2 is in nursery with about 8 others). What about Wal-Mart, zoo? I am on antibiotics now for another sinus infection-does this mean that my immune system is weak? I went to my midwife yesterday and they didn't mention to be cautious or anything.
