  1. We've owned a house in Killeen since 2007 and it has never been broken into. In fact our neighborhood is very quiet and safe. I often would leave my car unlocked on the driveway with no problems. There are definitely areas of Killeen I would not live at, but not all of Killeen is bad. The farther away from post the better. Best areas are southern Killeen and closest to Harker Heights.
  2. I used WP years ago and recently visited their website. My goodness! I was so lost. It looks so cluttered and complicated. When I used them I only bought their exclusives, and the guides when I could not find them used. The readers I bought used or found at my library.
  3. They don't accept Wiccans, and they stopped recognizing UUs.
  4. Thanks for the tip on the grocery bags. Now I have another use for them. I usually plastic wrap everything I send for PBS or books I sell elsewhere.
  5. My oldest got sick quite often. She was also in daycare from 3yo and public school K to 12. My younger two, both homeschooled, rarely get sick. Mostly allergies depending on what part of the country we live, but hubby is one of those people who has to walk around with Allegra, Benadryl or an Epipen in his pocket. So I blame him :D I breastfed all three, but my youngest until he was 3.5 years old....he's now 10 and has never had an ear infection. My house is far from spotless, we don't eat as healthy as I would like, we don't do vitamins, they get quite dirty playing outside. <<knocking on wood>> lol
  6. We installed laminate in a house that we now rent. I loved it. We did it ourselves with the help of a friend who had a table saw. This was about 7 years ago and even after 4 different tenants, it still looks good. The house where we live now has something different. Looks a bit like laminate, you might think it's hardwood, but it is actually vinyl. It is in stips like wood and it even has the grain and grooves.
  7. Not just the under-25 crowd. Three of my sisters-in-law do this all the time. Half of their pics on FB are duckfaced, with peace sign, from above showing cleavage, in the bathroom with the camera in the pic....you name it. And they are all well over 30.
  8. That really depends on the area, and the mortgage company. We have rentals in 4 different states and all that we are required to have is "fire hazard" insurance. Like homeowner's, but it doesn't cover the tenants property. In one state the tenants are required to have renter's insurance.
  9. :iagree: We have properties for which we charge $200-$400 above our mortgage (incl. taxes & ins.) and then two we've had to charge below because comparable properties in the area are lower and there is a large inventory.
  10. I would not take any kind of drug use lightly. No matter how innocent or "healthy" pot may seem. This mom didn't make a big deal of her son's use of pot either. http://mamapundit.com/tag/stuff-of-nightmares/
  11. Big thumbs down...especially since you spelled it differently in the same sentence.
  12. lol! I have one like this. I met her because she used to homeschool and she'd come to park days (she was equally annoying in person). She posts pics of the latest whatever fancy brand $300 purse she wants to buy. Yet, she's a recently divorced mom, going to school, and recently quit her job because she is expecting to marry her doctor boyfriend who she has dated for 3 months! I have found her comically amusing so far because I don't interact with her since she stopped HSing, but she's starting to cross over to the annoyance realm. I have actually been thinking she might need to get un-friended soon, lol.
  13. :iagree: And I guess the dog house market must be out of business since apparently these days dogs are supposed to be indoors.:lol::lol:
  14. I've been very happy with RR, even when items have been on backorder. I understand why they would hold the order when the shipping is free. One time they ssent me my order anyway because the backordered stuff was going to take longer than anticipated. I also get an email with tracking number. As far as the prices, they are better than CBD. I've put my items in both stores' carts to compare, and RR is always less. Plus, they have a better selection.
  15. I have a promo code for free shipping to share. I used it one, so it is good for 2 more. PM me.
  16. Hmmm...I don't know anyone in the military who gets a paper check that they need to cash. First thing you have to do in basic training is open a bank account if you don't already have one. Pay is by electronic deposit.
  17. My MIL takes the grandkids school shopping every summer. Three are in private school and she spends the most on them (not that their parents can't afford it, but that's another story) She stopped buying for mine when I started HSing six years ago. Last summer I met up with her at the store and I didn't know she was actually there to do the annual shopping with 6 of the other grandkids. She filled TWO carts with school stuff and not one thing for my 2 kids. :glare: We still need clothes, nothing fancy, but we do have park days, co-ops, and so on. She must think we're in our pajamas all day.
  18. Each of my kids do 1 lesson per day. We've only used the workbook once when my computer crashed. We also did the whiteboard, but if they had a problem wrong and ereased too quick, we couldn't go back to see where they went wrong.
  19. First thing I do is make the bed as I get up. My 13yos does the same. Now, my 9yos...I guess he takes after my husband, who could care less if the bed is made.
  20. I've never used a mop I have liked. It always feels like I'm just spreading wet dirt around. I prefer to get down on my hands and knees. Now, I really want a steam mop. I've seen them in action and they do work. Everyone I know that has one loves it.
