  1. I haven't knit socks using the Magic Loop but I have done hats with it - love it! Socks are my next thing to master...I just have to get this afghan DONE! I'm so tired of it!!!! One was fine - but two is just boring, LOL.
  2. I'm about half-way through the 2nd afghan I am making my parents for Christmas - they wanted matching ones for their chairs in their RV. I have also knit 3 hats in the past few weeks...and I want to make these for my youngest dds. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cyclades-vest http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/-249-childrens-neck-down-jacket
  3. My user name is just-jo and I am in the WTM group...just started trying to post. I too do not update my project page very often...in fact not hardly at all. I'm missing about 5 baby blankets, one afghan, two hats and numerous scarves that I have done in the last few months. :D
  4. I have one that is starting to need to use deodorant at that age also...I won't lie it freaked me out too. None of my others have needed it so young.
  5. :grouphug::grouphug: My son took it this morning....he WISHES I would have gotten the times wrong...but we actually got there early...much to his dismay. It is his practice year - so let him practice at home with practice tests....complete with filling out the grids (that takes practice too ;) ) My ds almost put his zip code in the wrong place today, LOL. My oldest never took the PSAT because I just didn't know about it. I somehow missed all the information on that (I wasn't hooked into a good homeschool group or here at WTM then either) She still did fine with the ACT. Don't beat yourself up over it...take care of the ones that are sick and take care of yourself.
  6. :grouphug::grouphug: I would unfriend too....but not right away. I like to make people think it doesn't matter to me what they think and really it shouldn't matter what they think anyways. I wouldn't want to give her the satisfaction of thinking that she had upset me. Then down the road I would unfriend her when I remembered again...for now I would just hide her. :D
  7. Thanks, I made the digital page along time ago when I used to scrapbook...trying to get back into it.

  8. Missing adult teeth sounds like a pretty common occurrence :D My oldest dd is missing 3. She just had an implant done on one - it had one of those silver temporary crowns put on it when she was about 8 because the baby tooth cracked. They were trying to make it last until her adult tooth came in - which of course it never did. The cost of the implant is about $3,000 a tooth for us. Our dental insurance covers about $80 of the oral surgeon's work :001_huh: The dentist told us that the others should last her quite a while if she takes care of them. However, hers are not front teeth.
  9. I'll try to relisten to them again. I have them on my iPhone and listen while I'm driving or escaping in my room :D
  10. I'd pull him too. Are you paying money for this???? :001_huh: My son is taking chemistry (Apologia). His teacher is kicking his butt. He has a LOT of work to do at home and then class is FULL of working problems, doing labs and reviewing for tests. She has them do an extra handout per Module that she creates herself. I do pay a monthly fee and the teacher is a polymer chemist. This class has been worth EVERY penny!!! This is what I would be looking for in a class that involved my time. I have too little of it to waste.
  11. :iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree: I would be more concerned about my son's lack of respect for the teacher that caused her to come to that point. I would also expect my son to grow a thicker skin. He will have to deal with all types of people in the world. Sometimes people say things to you that hurt your feelings. It would be a point of inner-reflection for us. A key phrase around our home is "life is tough, get a helmet." :D
  12. Not a whole lot here - we had a baby shower this afternoon. However, my dd's boyfriend is a firefighter and he and several from his crew in this city went to Nashville to run 110 flights of stairs in full gear in honor of the 343 firefighters that died in the towers. He ran in honor of Paramedic Carlos Lillo. We here are all very proud of him.
  13. I am naturally a night owl - but it rarely ever happens anymore. We are usually to bed around 10 and I'm up at 5:30 - sleeping in for me is to naturally wake up at 6:15 as I can rarely sleep later than that anymore no matter what time I go to bed - even 2 or 3 in the morning....I'm still awake by 6. I have been in the habit now of getting up at that time to fix my dh breakfast and then workout for about 10 years now. So it is definitely a lifestyle change. I can revert back to being a night owl though if I'm given the chance. The children have to up by 7 (my rule ;) ) to get their day started and we hit the books at 8:00.
  14. I have white dishes and I still like them - they are going on about 12 years old I think. We need to replace them here soon. I'll probably go with white again. It may get "boring" at times but I get bored of the same pattern too - probably faster, if I think about it.
  15. What I started doing was keeping my little index cards that I planned my menus on - then I made a master list from that after I had done it for a few months. If you haven't made any menus lately think back to what you made this last week and write it down - you now have your first card to "keep." The just start making a menu for each week. I plan mine according to the type of day I know I'll have. On Tuesdays it HAS to be easy because I'm gone all after with my ds to chemistry class/lab. Wednesdays it's something the dc like since dh rarely eats with us on that night. I save my labor intense type meals for a Friday or Saturday night (if at all, LOL.:D:D ) With my rotating menu - when we get tired of something I'll replace it with either a new recipe or something from my master list - which I need to re-do since we have some new allergies to avoid.
  16. Here is my rotating menu...it doesn't really have all those dashes - just couldn't get it to look right without the tabs in Word. 17. Not here. At our Kick Off meeting this year in just our high school group the leader asked how many were home-schooling for the first time and I think about 50+ people raised their hands!!! I would estimate the attendance at that meeting to be around 200-300 folks (that includes parents and teens 7th grade and up.) We have our first "party" this Friday night and have over 100 signed up. I'm helping with the games - should be a blast!!!!! I think since our home-school group is SO active in the high school years we have an large amount that do home educate through those years. Those that want to dual enroll also have that option and we have a great community college that loves to work with the home-schoolers. We have a yearbook and yearbook staff, play auditions and a huge performance in the spring, many types of Algebra, Geometry, dual enroll college algebra classes taught by home school moms that hold degrees in those fields, chemistry taught by a polymer chemist/HS mom. There are so many great opportunities that going back to school for the activities is not a "draw." I love our group :D
  18. I read this the other day - it made such an impact on me that I actually discussed it with my dh. I have also made up a 4 week rotating menu. We've only been doing it one day :tongue_smilie:but I can already see the benefits of sticking to it. I got out what I needed at lunch yesterday - had supper ready and going on time and it was great. I have today's supper pulled out and I'll just complete it when we get home from Chemistry today. My next plan is to set up the housekeeping so there are not any choices to be made - wish me luck
  19. I agree it's horrible here in MS. My parents RV around the country but make southwest FL their home. They don't come here in the summer. They say it is worse than FL. We stay in the AC as much as possible.
  20. I wouldn't even notice if the writing on the envelope was different from the card. I think it is wonderful that he is writing the thank you's....I don't think I've received any Thank You notes here in the past few years for graduation gifts that we have given. :001_huh:
  21. OH I love my label maker!!!! In fact I had to re-buy mine because one of my children broke mine - it was very easy to tell which child - it was HIS name wadded up in the label maker!!!! LOL :lol: Congrats on an excellent deal!!!!!!
