  1. I have always been a fan of Meg Ryan's haircuts, def like that!!:iagree:
  2. If you use HOD, what phonics do you use? Do you use Reading Made Easy, The REading Lesson, or your own choice? Why do you use what you have choosen? TIA:bigear: I am particularly looking at First Grade, Little Hearts For His Glory, LHFHG...
  3. Wow! thanks so much!! You have given a lot of useful info!!:001_smile:
  4. We need a great phonics program that has everything included...my dd loves crafts and to read. We prefer something Christian, but it does not have to be... We are leaning towards MFW or HOD for the whole curriculum, but heard that both of those programs are lacking in phonics... Please give your thoughts:001_smile:
  5. we are right down the road from you!! we are in sugarland...do you know of any groups out there?
  6. we are in sugarland! know of any groups out there?
  7. I have been teaching Kindergarten in the public school system for 8 years, before becoming a home schooling mama:001_smile:. This current year, I have been teaching my Kindergarten child with the curriculum we used in the school system and fireflies (bible lessons). I am searching for a whole curriculum which is christian based to use for next year. I have reviewed Sonlight, but wanted to double check and see if there were anymore curriculums like this out there. Please let me know and give reviews. I don't want to dip into this curriculum and that curriculum. I prefer one whole curriculum. My child is very flexible...i.e. she loves reading, hands on, and activities alone/others...
  8. Ok, So I've read Cathy Duffy's book and TWTM. There has been more choices since Cathy wrote her book; furthermore, I would like more guidance. My dd is 5 and will be starting K with me(1st year to hs). Academically she knows all letter/sounds, can write all letters, can sound out words but not write them all out yet, can count to 29, can add sums to 10 with manipulatives... Her character is very artistic, she loves to make things in the art center, loves playing with manipulatives, likes the workbooks, loves to read...She is sooo much a teacher pleaser, even with me; therefore, she wants to get everything just right;). We would love to find a curriculum with Christian views too, if not, we can suppliment with funshine express Christian activities. Please advise:confused:
  9. Love the info on your blog, thank you;), answers a lot of ?'s... Wow, so they have an experiment a week?
  10. Is there Christian beliefs or scripture in this curriculum, especially Kindergarten? How are the lessons set up?
  11. I have been a Kindergarten and Pre/K teacher for the past 8 years. I am going to hs my dd-5/05, dd-8/07... We are going to follow different Kindergarten programs for my dd whom is 5 and watering down the programs for my little wiggly dd whom is about to be 3... ELA/Phonics-Mcruffy???, Dr. Jean for sure!! Math-Like the idea of Singapore, but think that dds learning styles would better fit Mcruffy or Horizon, Everyday counts calendar Writing-Lucy Calkins Handwriting-following a curriculum from a school district that I loved Biblical-Funshine Express, Daily Devotions Science-Mcruffy??, Sonlight??, From mudpies to magnets any thoughts?
  12. I just requested a free catalog;)...can you tell me which other programs are similiar? I am looking at math, ela, and science...:001_smile: Is the math spiraling? Is the science a lot of experiments? Is the ela hands on, worksheets, etc...
  13. I went on the Mcgruffy website and clicked on specials. There is still the spring specials and at the bottom, there are books with scripture and scripture memory cards, etc...:001_smile:
  14. I love Dr. Jean! I have almost all of her cds. She is absolutely wonderful. If you get a chance, go to one of her workshops.
  15. I hear how this curriculum is fun and I have seen scripture on the website with certain activities. Do you like all science, math, and language arts? Is this curriculum biblically based? Why or why not do you like it? Specifically Kindergarten:)
