Thanks for all the input! I really appreciate it. I guess I'll stick with what is working. My older daughter is a wiz kid and doing 7th grade ABEKA and is 11. My younger daughter, who's 7 and barely doing 2nd grade, has hated school from the get go and is very artsy crafty. PACES Math is the first curriculum she has enjoyed. That's after we've tried Abeka and BJU. So glad I didn't go with AO as it sounds like she would've hated that as well.

Hi Everyone, Could someone chime in on the differences between PACES from School of Tomorrow and LifePacs from Alpha Omega? I'm using PACES Math Gr 2 for my daughter right now and she likes it. I'd like to add more subjects in this format for 3rd grade. Blessings, Sandra

The problem isn't so much reading as writing. She keeps writing her letters backwards and is not spelling words anywhere close to correct when writing her own stories. Her verbal vocabulary is awesome, but she can't spell the simplest words correctly. Thanks for all your suggestions.

My first DD (now 11) is as sharp as they come. In fact, she taught herself to read and was reading at a 3rd grade level by the end of Kindergarten. But my second DD (now 7) is a horse of a different color. She HATES to read and write. I've tried SO many different curriculum and approaches and we're struggling along. But in 2nd grade she still continues to write her letters (big and little) backwards. Her spelling is almost unreadable even from a phonetic approach. Even simple words like "pig" she'll spell it pig one time and peg the next. She was writing her numbers backwards too, but is doing much better. Any suggestions before I pull my hair out? I already feel like the world's worse homechooling mom. Thanks a bunch for your help. Sandra

Love my chickens! Started out with 6 chicks in summer 2008. Three were roos and one was killed by a dog. Traded one roo for a middle aged hen and sold the other two roos. Got 5 chicks last summer, 4 hens and 1 roo. VERY frisky roo that we had to sell or have naked hens. This summer, we've got 14 chicks. So far it looks like 3 roos, 7 hens, and 4 unknown. We'll have more eggs than we know what to do with.
