  1. Hi, I have a son that has received full tuition, room and board at two different universities. We are a large family and qualified for quite a bit of financial aid federal and state. My concern is that as a family we may move out of state either this year and the near future. Will this affect his financial aid package? Thanks, Linda

  3. I use Rod and Staff's. It is something like $3 something and can fit I think seven subjects. I buy one every year now. Sincerely, Linda
  4. We spend about 30-40 min. on our 3rd grade math. We are using Rod and Staff and if we do flashcards that day then we can take up to 40 minutes. Sometimes we're done in 20 minutes. It then takes her about 15-30 minutes to do her work. I set a timer and after 15 minutes she can start on something else and then come back and set the timer for another 15 minutes. :)
  5. I'm in NE TN about 1 1/1 hrs. from Knoxville.
  6. The Oxy clean idea sounds great. I've made the homemade soap but stopped because after a while the clothes would start looking dull and stained. Maybe Oxy will change that. it's worth a try. Thanks.
  7. Ten year old looks at me as serious as all get out and says, "I need some pajamas!" This may not be funny to anyone else but it is hilarious to me to think that this boy who thinks he is sooo big wants official pj's. Everytime I say it to myself I bust out laughing. Maybe homeschooling has messed my humor up.
  8. Hello Sarah, sorry to bother you on another forum, but I reallly wanted to know if you still have the Saxon Teacher cds for 65 to sell? Let me know. I would lreally appreciate it. Thanks, Linda
  9. Hi, I used R & S last year for Math in 1st and 3rd and can truly say that it is a solid math course. They know what they're doing. I usually switch them in 4th gr. to Saxon and I can say that it will be a breeze switching my rising 4th grader who struggled 1st and 2nd gr. w/ a more non traditional program. Third grade R & S was just what he needing to strengthen his weaknesses. As far as other subjects, I'm completely won over by their English because it is so solid. Very repetitive- but solid and really flexible. I love their science. It has acitivities to add hands on but not so many that I would be overwhelmed and they are optional. After several years using a med- activity level unit study curriculum, their science is just what the doctor ordered. We've also done their history and though I feel it could cover historical figures/ battles a bit better the geography map work content makes up for it and leaves us plenty of time to read living books /non fiction at the library to round out our lessons. As far as CLE, I'm going to try their Reading this year because I've looked it over and it seems to cover more than R & S and make it more enjoyable for them. Their readers have been on our top favorites for several years. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Linda (mom to six growing blessings ranging from 11 to 1)
