  1. Damn you multi quote for not working. I have other things to respond to! I absolutely wondered if there was something implanted in her arm. I knew there was something in the bunny, but the arm thing is just SO suspicious. There's got to be something there!
  2. I wanted to love it, but the writing was so dry. I felt bad for not loving it. :(
  3. Any Blacklist fans? Man, I love that show. There is no actor (CURRENTLY working on TV), who is more suave than James Spader.
  4. For weeks now, the multi quote function has not been working for me. If I click it, it will only let me reply to that ONE post, not multiple. Is anyone else having problems with it?
  5. WHAT? No, I love that show!!! They'd better renew it! I have spoken, let it be so!
  6. They have renewed Continuum, but only for 6 more episodes, in which they will somehow finish up the storyline. IS SIX EPISODES? I don't think so!
  7. This thread is amazing.   My great grandfather was one of 26 children. The first wife (his mother), died in childbirth with number 14, and the second wife died in childbirth with number 12. Can you imagine? Apparently they had no trouble having frequent tea, and didn't not use any of the alternative ways to brew.
  8. People have been using all sorts of birth control since ancient times, though some of them are just gross. In ancient Egypt they soaked something (papyrus maybe) in donkey milk, and inserted it. There was also some sort of past stuff that was used as a barrier, or a large rock inserted in the cervix to keep it open. In later times though, there were condoms made of linen, silk or animal gut. They were originally used to prevent the spread of disease. Women also used the ends of small lemons or limes as cervical caps. I don't how effective it was, but I imagine it made things smell lemony fresh.
  9. This is ALL OVER my FB and Twitter feed.
  10. OMG, that sounds delicious! We have rum and port, but no peach liqueur. I may have to get some.
  11. So, what does a couch look like? I've never heard of them as two separate things, just interchangeable words. Pics? Props on the Davenport with a twist of lemon. I'll take mine with a twist of lime and a cherry.
  12. I'm not the only one who hates the word 'couch!' Yay!
  13. My aunt did this too, in her formal LR. The whole room, carpet, walls, davenport and chair were ALL white! WHITE! I was petrified of that room. Not that I was ever allowed to go in, but still, the thought of getting something on the carpet terrified me.
  14. I just realized I'm sitting here wearing drawstring yoga pants with front pockets (loose legs), a T-shirt, and a jacket very similar to the one Mandylubug linked upthread. Of course I didn't leave the house today though, and James Bond is out of town for a few weeks, so it doesn't really matter. Ha, like he's never seen me in my yoga pants before! Has anyone seen the betabrand dress yoga pants? They have them in multiple colors and styles. I've always wanted to try them, but they are pricey. They look wonderful though. http://www.betabrand.com/womens/pants/womens-black-straight-fit-dress-pant-yoga-pants.html Honestly, I think it's difficult to tell the difference sometimes between yoga pants and just back trousers. Some look almost identical.
  15. I have the slightly shorter version of those to wear under my maxi-dresses in the summer (the darker dresses, of course). It sounds weird, but they're not hot, wick away sweat (at least the one I have do), and keep my legs from rubbing against each other.
  16. "Sparkin' on the davenport" is one of the cutest things I've ever heard.
  17. Nope! I absolutely could NOT care less about it. We live DEEP in Seahawks country, and I'm surrounded by the "12," but I'm like...meh. During football season, Fridays are known as "Blue Friday," where all Seahawks fans wear blue and/or green. It's EVERYWHERE. Loads of offices and other work places take part in it. This past Friday was especially blue and green. I was at the store, and I swear I was in a sea of blue and green. I stood out in my pink! James Bond had to fly to AZ on Sunday, right around the same time the Seahawks were flying out. OMG, it was the worst! They closed off the main highway exit to the airport, and rerouted everyone. The reroute though took us through the cross street where the busses would be traveling. There were THOUSANDS of people lined up along the street, wearing Seahawks colors, carrying banners and flags, waiting to wave at the busses! It was early morning, and cold. No thank you! At the airport, the police were there, removing people who weren't flying, or dropping off/picking up someone who was flying. It was ridiculous, and a pain for the people who WERE flying. It's not the Seahawks fault, as they did have to fly, but it shouldn't have been advertised all over the news when and where they would be.
  18. I'm convinced that low-fat versions of foods, sugar substitutes and HFCS are the devil. They make you want MORE. Mmm...good dark chocolate is the best for cravings.
  19. Tammy, that's great! I already drink more than 2 liters a day, and eat 3 meals. I was walking, but since my knee went kaput, I can barely walk from the LR to the kitchen. If it doesn't get better soon, I'm going to go crazy! My ass hurts from all the sitting!
  20. Okay, I updated the first post with the answer.
  21. Okay, some other WTM friends and I were debating this word over on FB, and one wanted me to put a poll up to see if people knew what it was. Please answer the poll, but DON'T give it away in the comments. If you know, you're part of a secret club, and we cannot give our secrets away. I will be posting the answer in a day or so. Also, no googling before you answer the poll! i want an unskewed survey. ETA: Answer Hmmm...I guess I should have worded the poll differently, as some people seemed to have voted yes, thinking the British definition or the name of a town. For those of you who don't know, a Davenport is a sofa, or couch, for those of you who use that term (I personally dislike the word couch. There's no really reason, I just do). Looks like I was wrong, as I was on the side of most people not knowing what it was. :svengo:
  22. Thanks, I'll check it out. I just requested a sample sent to my Kindle app, so I can see if I think it will work.
  23. I'm looking for US history that doesn't whitewash the whole thing. Most books seem to lean towards the settlers being kind and generous, and the founding fathers as the wisest, most wholesome men who ever lived. I'm looking for something more realistic. I don't mean anything that talks about them being horrible, but something that is not biased. Indy is in 7th grade, so that level is what I'm looking for. Any thoughts?
