  1. This is my first time back on the forum, since a death in the family, a very bad computer virus, and a bad flu, that struck the whole house. It has been one thing after another here. Anyway, both of the computers had a virus, so I lost a whole lot of saved information:banghead:. If there is anyone that I was communicating with regarding a sale. Please pm me. I can't seem to remember like I use to. Memory is fading these days. I do apologize.
  2. This was a very interesting watch. This is why so many are deciding to homeschool, aside religious beliefs.
  3. Thanks Jan! I must have found the answer at the same time you were posting your reply. I have no idea why it never crossed my mind to look on the website. Hectic morning here and I still haven't had my coffee:sleep:.
  4. Never mind found my answer on the website, duhh!
  5. Can anyone tell me if the test for the Pre Algebra level is done on the CD or out of the textbook? Does it offer a grade book? I am considering purchasing this for my dd, but I didn't know if the test are stored the same as the lower grades. Thanks!
  6. Another homeschooler posted this on her blog. Do you agree?
  7. I received this in my e-mail this morning and was instructed to pass this on. Seems there was a storm and delayed shipping of orders, so we get something free. Yippee! Here's how to claim your free book with any purchase: Add any product(s) to your cart. Do not add the All About Homophones e-book to your cart quite yet. In the upper left corner of the cart, you'll see a box that says "Special Code." Type in these three letters, all in capital letters: AAH. Then click the "Apply" button. The free All About Homophones ebook will appear just above where you enter your shipping information. Click the orange "Add to Cart" button. You'll receive this e-book automatically, without delay! Enjoy!
  8. I recently purchase the Handbook of Nature Study. I will have to page through and see if there is any mention of desert plants and habitat. I am sure some of the more experienced Nature Mommas can answer right this, as well.
  9. I have been trying to figure out the best way to do our normal science curriculum, as well as our nature study. We are currently doing Physics, so this has me a bit stumped. I was thinking to focus one day out of the week, on nature study and dedicate the other days to Physics. I am just curious how others do it. Please do share. Thanks!
  10. Oh! I just have to get mine out. Is it just me or do boys suffer from short term memory loss, afte 10 yrs of age? :banghead: :banghead:
  11. :iagree:I'm still aiming for a whole different continent.
  12. Before I read this thread I thought I was crazy for having five kids and four cats, but boy do I feel a lot better now. Maybe it's just a homeschooler thing.
  13. It is time for me to choose a math curriculum for my soon to be Kindergarten, and I would like to hear what everyone else used or is using, and why? My guy is pretty visual and loves hands on activities. I have thought about Singapore, Right Start, and Making Math Meaningful. I really want something that will build a strong math foundation, yet fun. Thanks!
  14. Has anyone ever used A Journey Through Grammar Land? I would love to hear your feedback on it. Thanks!
  15. :iagree: Glad to know it wasn't just me. My children use to attend the public school in Virginia. You are right, all they focus on all year is passing the SOL test and pound everything Virginia in their heads. I remember asking them "Is that all you teach is Virginia History?" That is what made me decide to homeschool, along with the horrible influences from other children. My children just were not learning anything. All they knew was pass the SOL and every Virginia fact you could think of.
  16. I rinse everything out. It just seemed the likely thing to do not to mention, I'm a clean freak. I keep my recycle bin on the side of the home, sometimes in the garage. Cleaning things out keeps the insects from finding there way in it to it. I couldn't imagine all that sitting for a week, until trash day . I would worry it would smell or draw insects. Do you keep your bin inside?
  17. I got a very quick reply from Paige. She suggested me to go the Physics route, instead of using the Earth Science. She felt it would be better for me because they are pretty much near the same level. I can follow it with Biology for the Logic stage, which should be out this spring. I hope this helps someone else.
  18. I am looking for something secular/neutral, but nothing that has the big bang theory. I have looked at Apologia for Astronomy, before. Many have suggested it. I'll take a second look at it.
  19. I took your suggestion and emailed her. I will wait for her reply, and I will share any resources that she suggest. Thanks!
