  1. thank you for your answers. I never thought to check with my library. I will do that!
  2. Did you as the teacher get the TWSS and use it first? I am trying to decide if I can wing it with SWI and not buy the more expensive TWSS.
  3. My boys are 14 and 15 and going to be starting Physical Science as 9th graders. Most in our ps do that as well. I think it's fine. Don't worry about it too much.
  4. I am not able to purchase the TWSS at this time but want to use the SWI-B with my boys. Is it possible to do this? I need to hear from those who have done it this way. I know the ideal is to use TWSS to teach me first but like I said, it's not possible to purchase it now. It's way way too much money. Someone told me to skip SWI and just buy the workbooks but I think that is not going to be helpful. Advice?
  5. Thank you both for your replies. I am going to get a look at a local friend's materials so I can get a feel for the program. Hopefully between that and the Classical Conversations information on IEW I should be well informed by next week.
  6. I have 2 boys in 9th grade and one is a reluctant writer. I have heard good things about IEW for years but never paid attention. Both boys have expressed the dislike of video teachers, we used them years ago and both were bored quickly. I know there are workbooks and other items but I don't know where to start with IEW. The essays? Literature? I plan to do Eng. and American Lit with them through high school but do we need a foundation first? BTW, they were in public school for the last 5 years.
  7. Did you use the skills from Windows to analyze the readings for Notgrass? I want to be sure that between the two courses I give them enough work for their credits.
  8. We have one in our area next week, free for teachers/parents along with a $$ day camp for the kids. My kids are going to the camps but I am attending the seminar. I am just curious if anyone here has gone to one or uses their services and would care to share any experiences with me/us. Thanks!
  9. Oh I am waiting for answers here because I want to do the same thing with my 9th grade boys. :lurk5::lurk5: Please someone chime in!!!!
  10. It's in the Rainbow Resource catalog. Yes I mean that book. I am still so undecided. I have 2 boys in 9th grade and they are both different in their writing skills. One does fine and the other no so good. It's not easy choosing what they need with stuff sight unseen.
  11. Sorry I do mean world history as a whole, not American. I guess it's their first book in the high school levels.
  12. I was going to get this to use along side of Notgrass Exploring World History but wondered if it would be too much lit. Any ideas about that?
  13. What writing resource did you use with your high schoolers when using this program? The recommended book is Writing Skills 2 and I am not sure if I need that one or should find one suitable to my kids' needs. Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
