  1. My 8 year old has consistently been telling me she feels nauseous when we're somewhere with very loud music. We're in the process of finding a new pediatrician so i don't have a relationship with a doctor right now. Has anyone else experienced this? Trying to determine if a pediatrician is the right first step to begin with.
  2. I'm looking for my rising 6th and 9th graders, but it doesn't need to be done together. I keep looking through the catalog and and everything seems very similar. I can't choose.
  3. It's been mentioned already, but Kotex. When used they are circular, instead of just fanning out. That's the only way I can describe it.
  4. Yes! They are in the student workbooks. The first few lessons didn't include them and for some reason I thought they would all be together, instead of with each lesson. It's set up perfectly, I am simply imperfect! 🙂
  5. The next lesson lists this and I can't seem to find them anywhere. I purchased the set together, with the teacher's manual, two workbooks, the meeting book and the fact cards - but no fact sheets. Does anyone know?
  6. Ouch! I can usually get a medium around us (low cost of living area) for around $5! And yes, not being told about the upcharge for the different milk would bother me.
  7. Moving it to the 2nd floor would be my dream! However, that's much more of a project. We live in the house DH's grandparents built on a farm, so there is absolutely no concern about selling it. If at some point that happens someone is going to be purchasing it for the farm, not the house. My youngest is 8, so at this point everyone is able to contribute quite a bit to doing their own laundry. I like the idea of everyone else carrying it back up 🙂 And yes, it would be a large space and nice and bright. I think we would leave the current hookups just in case, for later in life.
  8. What do you think? We live in a 2 story house with basement. Laundry is currently on the first floor. For a whole host of reasons DH and I hate the currently location and the only way to fix it is to move it and the only place we can move it without a major and expensive renovation is the basement. However, everyone I ever bring this up with practically screams in horror at the idea of moving laundry further from bedrooms - such a strong reaction from everyone that it's made me think they know something I don't so I have left it. DH, who really wants it in the basement, just offered the idea that if we did move it we would have room for 2 sets. This would give me the ability to get all of our laundry done in one big day, my preferred method. At this point I get most done, but still have to do a load a day the rest of the week simply because of the time the machines take. Also, I would have room down there to air dry delicates, fold etc. There is no workspace in its current location and so drying racks either go up in the kitchen or I drag all the wet clothes upstairs to dry them in my bedroom.
  9. We have engineered strand bamboo. I would say that all things considered, I am happy with it. Mostly because it came in around the same price as LVP, about $2.50 sq. ft., and actual hardwoods at the time were going to be 2-3 times the cost. We were very focused on a darker stain and wider plank. Yes, we do have scratches, but we certainly don't baby it so I don't think hardwood would fair any better here. We just fill them in with a little stain marker and move along. The biggest issue we had was small pieces splintering off where the nails went in during installation. The guys installing thought it was because it's just so hard. For the first few months after it was in we would encounter small splinters coming up between the planks every now and then. We complained to the manufacturer and were reimbursed a few hundred dollars. I have been told that this has been fixed with newer options but can't verify. Looking back I don't think I would make a different choice with our budget. I was initially pushing for LVP and DH was resistant for something like that in more formal rooms. I am now happy he won that argument. 🙂 We have had lots of compliments on our floor.
  10. Especially if you are the in-law:). We are in the very beginning of the process of DH taking over the farm from FIL. I just need some positive stories. Everything has been so stressful. Thankfully DH is an only child so there are no other actors at play. I have been pushing hard the past year for FIL to do some estate planning, mainly for Medicaid lien protection. Up until last week he didn't even have a will. He's 65. All of the sudden he has decided this is his last year farming, he's retiring and we have to take over. Up until now he's been very resistant to share any responsibilities or financial information. I feel like we're years behind. Also, we have no idea he's expecting us to do financially. Honestly, I don't think he even knows what he wants. It all seems so overwhelming and everyone I know personally who has married into a farm seems to only have horror stories!
  11. I did not want the top rack. The only place I have for this is under a window and I didn't want something tall there. We just use it for sorting dirty laundry.
  12. I have this one from Walmart. It's the only one I have ever had so I can't compare the sturdiness, but we have had a family of six using it for several years now and it's still holding up. And certainly not $100. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-Oversized-3-Bag-Wheeled-Laundry-Sorter/277503936
  13. DH is a super-commuter so it's going to hit us hard. We have been circling round and round with the idea of my getting a PT job over the past year, but kept saying it just wasn't worth the added stress. I think this might tip us over the edge now. I am dreading it. I have no issues with a job. I think I'll enjoy getting out more, especially after these years of Covid. I dread all the extra prep work at home to make sure things run smoothly when I'm not there. I just don't think there's anything else I'm willing to cut back on at this point. Also, like others have mentioned, we were really hoping to be doing more activities like we used to, so we'll need some extra room in the budget for that as well.
  14. Sunday - $3.79 Monday - $4.09 Today - $4.19
  15. I shared DH's grandmother's obituary to my immediate family as they had asked and it was deleted as spam. According to FB I was sharing it to get likes.
  16. We use pork quite a lot as well. I keep my eye out for sale prices, i can usually get a shoulder for around $1.60, as well as loin roasts. We'll purchase those whole and then cut them into our own chops, or roast it whole. It really helps keep our costs down while also keeping my meat-and-potatoes loving DH.
  17. All of our libraries still have free test, I'm going to assume it's because we have a very low vaccine rate and most people aren't too worried about it. The schools aren't even requiring negative tests if you have symptoms, only for you to tell them if you have a positive test. This just means most students aren't testing now. It's great fun living here for those of us who are a bit more cautious. 😞
  18. When we lived in a home with no good location for stockings we hung them on bedroom doorknobs as decor. When they were filled on Christmas Even, Santa took them down and lined them up on the couch.
  19. To the bolded, I agree with you, that's strange. As I said earlier we get photos done every few years and this never even crossed my mind as an option. If it's my parents, my children and myself, then my husband should also be in that picture.
  20. I'm referring to my family of origin here, as none of my children are old enough to have a spouse. If there were only one picture being taken it would include everyone. However, every few years we have photos done and we usually take a large number of poses, including one that will just have my siblings and I (my mom's favorite), one of all the kids with their spouses, one of all the girls, one of all the boys etc. etc.
  21. You also may want to look into providing transportation for an assisted living community. It's usually irregular part-time work, taking people to doctor's appointments or a small group on outings.
  22. I had it at the end of May. That evening, maybe 6-8 hours after, I got the chills and felt like a fever was coming on. I went to bed early. The next day I felt a bit run down, but nothing major. Other than that my arm was a bit tender for a few days.
  23. This is the same info we found as well. The older man at our local appliance store told me that he felt they were so popular because of their longevity, but that they weren't actually the best at cleaning clothes. I trust him completely because when we were shopping for all new appliances after our kitchen remodel he told me that he couldn't in good faith recommend any particular brand anymore. They have all become equally unreliable.😄
  24. 33.2% with one dose. 31.9% fully vaccinated. As soon as the mask mandates lifted for anyone vaccinated everyone quit masking. It's so frustrating.
  25. Yes! Thank you for mentioning this! It made me look it up online and we discovered that jeans can not have any holes in them above her fingertips. We checked with a few people and found out this was actually enforced. All of her jeans have small holes around the front pockets. Nothing you can see through, but enough to not be ok. I would have never even thought about this. Thanks for all the comments, they're about what I was thinking. A few new items to start off with and then adding as the school year progresses is probably what we'll end up doing. She also just got her first job so I'm sure she'll be picking up some things on her own as well.
