  1. I was waiting for you to bring this up. Of course, using a condom, keeping it clean, and being careful where you put it also offer those same benefits, without the risk of surgery on a newborn.
  2. We have both and prefer Netflix most of the time.More free stuff. Also, although the Roku interface made both easy to use, we now have a net ready tv, and the Amazon interface is no where near as easy to use as the Netflix one.
  3. lol....I thought I was the only person driving around sobbing at country songs! Happens all the time. Now that I'm pregnant it is almost daily! Don't take the Girl certainly does, almost every time. "This Ain't Nothing" does too. But honestly, right now, as hormonal as I am, lots do. Oh, and "Christmas Carol". That one will have me sobbing too hard to drive!
  4. I'd do it over his objections, but not secretly. I don't believe in dishonesty in marraige. He'd be upset, and I'd have to deal with that. But I'd do it. If he truly is an atheist I don't see how it matters to him that much, anyway. What harm is there if there is no God, to sprinkle with water?
  5. Well, I don't, but my Grandma did. I can use her as a learning example. She had 5 kids in 3 years. ( I do not recommend that, neither does she!). Two sets of twins with a singleton in the middle, in 3 years. Then a few years later another child, this one the sought after girl. She did keep a clean house, order, etc etc. She had very high standards. But...to keep it up like that the children were not allowed to play in the house, they had to play outside. She often fed one twin twice and the other not at all by mistake. She gave them narcotic sleep medicine to get some sleep at night (prescirbed by the pediatrician!). They were sent outside in the morning and only allowed back in for meals. I'm telling you this not as what you should do, but what you should NOT do. Those kids ran wild. It was lord of the flies. Only two (my father, the eldest, and my aunt, the youngest) managed to make it to adulthood even fairly stable. The rest have troubles with alcohol, drugs, gambling, weird lifestyles, etc. So stop stressing over the little things, and be happy that you are THERE for your kids in a way she wasn't.
  6. praying. I've been there...praying to save my marriage, and hearing God answer "no". It is so hard, but God has his own reasons for things, and this is not the end, it is only another beginning.
  7. Nice globe, maps, etc. Computer games like "where in the world is Carmen Sandiago". Timeline book and timeline figures. Documentaries. Nice dictionary, thesaurus, etc? Nicely bound copies of some classic books? Or just go nuts buying a bunch of fiction?
  8. I've seen people use those hanging closet organizers, like you put sweaters in.
  9. We have a different one, this one, http://knowledgequestmaps.com/Wonders-of-Old.html, and love it. Not quite as pretty, but it gets used. We are on our 3rd year using it now. And it is only $24.
  10. ugh, a breed I will NEVER have after working in veterinary medicine. Sweet, but smelly and infected and allergy prone and orthopedic nightmares and on and on. Nope. They keep vets in business, and often smell awful. They should not be bred in my opinion, it is cruel. Edited to Add: I think they are VERY loving and sweet dogs, but the health issues they have to suffer with just because humans decided that twisted arthritic legs and smushed barely able to breathe faces are cute...it just seems wrong to me. We are purposely breeding genetic misfits, that cause significant suffering (those smelly skin folds are infected, and are PAINFUL to the dog, those twisted stumpy legs end up arthritic, and those squished faces mean they can't get a full breath of air ever in their lives), and for no reason other than "oh, it's soooo cute." I think that is wrong, and will never condone such a thing buy buying one. So yes, they are sweet, no, you shouldn't get one.
  11. What about using lectures/DVDs/Videos/Documentaries? Does she remember things from them? Maybe she needs to watch documentaries on the subject first, to get her interested and get those pegs in place, then read the written material, once she has a feel for what she is learning.
  12. THANK YOU! I was going nuts over this. Endedup finding a hose at Lowes that was lead free and was just praying it would work. Sounds like it will, and I need not have stressed.
  13. try the footsmart.com website. They specialize in just comfortable shoes, but have many brands, in many price ranges. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the orthoheel shoes, but I have plantar faciitis, and overpronate, so I need them. If you don't have foot problems and just want comfort, they have a ton of stuff. http://www.footsmart.com/C-Womens-Shoes-13.aspx
  14. I need to order a lead free hose to connect to fill my birth pool. Amazon has various diameters. Anyone know what the standard diameter of a normal garden hose is? The birth kit came with an adaptor for a garden hose. Or, if not, does anyone know the diameter of the washing machine water outlet? That is where we are hooking it up, and if it just fits on there I don't need the faucet adaptor for the sink. Thanks!
  15. To the OP, compliments are my love language as well, and I also compliment others. Nothing means as much to me as when my mom compliments me on how I'm raising my kids. I'd rather than than 100 gifts from her. Same with my hubby. So I understand, and I agree, it is an easy habit to start saying one nice thing to people when you see them.
  16. I say hormones.puberty seems the likely reason she is gaining now.
  17. It would depend on what kind of nurse she was. But generally, although it wouldn't bother me too much, if I DID think about it I would think it was better to change. Or, should I say, although I wouldn't get upset, if it were me I'd change. My mom was a nurse when I was growing up and at that time you NEVER wore your scrubs/work clothes/etc out of the hospital. You changed into street clothes. Also, I worked in the veterinary field for about 18 years, and always changed before going anywhere, because I was gross.
  18. normal. Not rejecting God, just being human. As long as you keep going it is all good.
  19. woohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to your kids! And to you!
  20. He didn't take steroids, he has never been accused of taking steroids. He's accused of having too many red blood cells, most likely from getting a blood transfusion, of his own stored blood. That does not cause cancer.
  21. I think maybe some VERY specific rules could help prevent these things, as he is not able to think through the situation himself. So NO sword play in the house, no swinging AnYTHING in the house. No running in the house. No playing with balls or other sports equipment in the house. Etc. "don't be hyper and wild" isn't specific enough. "Walk slowly when in the house" is more specific and can be enforced.
  22. I thought he was accused of using EPO, and blood doping? Hadn't heard steroids.
  23. Well, there are people who just financially can't afford the surgery, and I get that. But they are living their lives as a man. If you are married to a man, getting pregnant, nursing a baby, and trying to lead LLL you are not living as a man. That is living as a woman.
  24. I think it is crazy they are still going after him. I don't even care anymore. But, as for the tests...he is accused of blood doping, which is different than steroids and such. It can mean just giving yourself a blood transfusion to get extra red blood cells, or taking a normally occuring chemical produced by the kidneys to increase red blood cell production. Either way there is no actual drug to look for, just abnormally high red blood cell counts. Now, the problem is, people that compete at that level can have naturally high red blood cell counts from the stress of the workouts. That is why they can't "prove it" and he can disprove it. Personally, I tend to think that he just is naturally like that, because not only does he win races (when he would be doping supposedly, but he works just as hard in the offseason. His offseason workouts are legendary, and grueling, and more than anyone else does, and he would NOT be doping then, so I tend to believe his is just that bad a**. either way though, a decade later, who the heck cares? Move on and put that money and energy into testing people that are actually still competing.
  25. Not a huge deal. They weren't making out, these were innocent kisses. Heck, I kissed a boy on the cheek in preschool, lol. I don't allow dating at that age,or making out, or whatever, but a kiss on the cheek seems like just exploring and not dangerous, especially now that DD knows that everyone knows.
