  1. I know the student personally and it wasn't late. He also got an "a" in the class so it was weird because he did well on his other papers. If he didn't address the prompt, then a simple "you didn't address the prompt" would have been appropriate feedback.
  2. My DD21 (senior) has mentioned several times about the lack of feedback. She once failed a paper and when she asked her professor why, her professor said that she was her "teacher not her editor". She literally had no idea why she failed the paper. She got an A in the class so it didn't matter in the long run. Another person (same teacher, different class) got a zero on a paper, and the same thing. No feedback on a 15 page that received a zero grade. This was a freshman level English class BTW. Not a senior level history class where you are expected to know how to write a paper. (not that freshman shouldn't be expected to write good paper already but some don't)
  3. I am one who requires rinsing vessels before leaving on the counter. I am easily disgusted by milk and I don't want to see a splash of milk left in a cereal bowl or glass. We don't normally rinse plates first, though. Just cups and bowls, and the inside part only, not the bottom so standing water on the counter isn't an issue. The reason I don't like stuff left in the sink is a mother issue. My mom left (and still leaves) stuff soaking in the sink. She will fill the sink with hot soapy water and just put all the dishes in and leave them. Not wash one, or maybe just one she needs right away. I grew up with this and so now I can't tolerate dirty dishes stacked in a sink. It is definitely a "me" thing!!
  4. Yes! Not to mention one has to store the grain mill and wheat berries are generally more expensive than ground flour. I am very lucky I live near a bulk grocery store and can get unbleached flour pretty inexpensively. I bake a lot of bread and have no desire to grind my own flour. I respect those who do, but there are some complications to it. It's no surprise to me why more people don't grind their own wheat.
  5. I don't have a dishwasher so my system is: I feel up the sink with hot soapy water before I begin cooking and wash as I go. Then after the meal, I change out the water and everything gets washed immediately. I rarely let something soak...sometimes if we eat late and I'm too tired to scrub the pot I will fill it with hot soapy water and let it sit on the counter - never in the sink. Dirty dishes left in the sink drive me nuts LOL I don't think your making a mountain out of a molehill because I agree it's disgusting. I'm the main dishwasher anyway so I would probably just wash anything left to soak.
  6. This isn't new advice (I learned about this years ago) but I can't remember where I saw it. I actually bought a Nutrimill Artiste to make bread just because I was annoyed at having to turn it off/on again.
  7. I can't remember the exact name, but I have the mild type that just results in redness (no bumps) and I also have it in my eyes. I avoid lots of things - the sun, heat, spicy foods, along with ingredients in skincare such as fragrance, essential oils, hylauronic acid, urea, meadowfoam seed oil to name a few. It's one of those things where you have to figure out your triggers but the sun and spicy foods are pretty common. I also avoid all US manufactured chemical sunscreens, but there are some from Japan and Europe I can tolerate. As far as treatment goes, I've tried a couple of different things. Currently I use 15% azaleic acid. I have a prescription for a 5% benzyl peroxide cream that is encapsulated and my derm gave me a sample. The encapsulation is supposed to only release the bpo gradually, in turn reducing the irritation. However, it costs $522 and my insurance doesn't cover it. I did find a 5% bpo cream that is micronized that is supposed to be less irritating so I'm giving that a try. I did take a low dose doxycycline for about 6 months. I'm not sure it helped and I'm not super comfortable taking an antibiotic long term, even though it was a low dose. I am looking into taking turmeric supplements are a way of reducing inflammation. So basically I somewhat control it with gentle skincare, sunscreen, a prescription cream, and avoiding my triggers. I haven't given up my morning coffee yet! Oh, and eye drops - systane? I think
  8. It might be worth finding what brands are serviced in your area. We buy from a local mom and and pop shop and they service every appliance they sell. I am boring, lol, but I follow the "the more features, the more things that can break" rule. I avoid extra features when I can. We have a plain ole GE fridge, the only feature it has is an ice maker. DH ruined a coffee pot because when he touched the electric panel to turn it on, he zapped it through static electricity. I have no experience with Samsungs, but I have a friend with the same exact problem as mentioned above, and no one in our area can fix it. Now she is stuck with an appliance she hates until she can save up for something else.
  9. Around here you will see it advertised as E85. It is cheaper, but as the others have mentioned you get a lesser gas mileage. I hate getting gas so I have never bought E85. I would much rather my tank of fuel go further, even if it costs a few cents more at the pump. I have never done the math to see which is cheaper overall. Anyway, I wouldn't say it's at every gas station where I live, but it's not uncommon to see it either (the midwest)
  10. I've not tried period underwear, but I do wear cloth panty liners. Maybe that would work for you? I purchased them from Etsy. Just make sure the backing is not a slick fabric LOL. Those suckers will not stay in place.
  11. The La Roche Posay one is my favorite, but (at least the American version) doesn't contain zinc oxide. But it has a good tint for my cool toned skin and isn't heavy on the skin. I much prefer European sunscreens, but I am using a mattifying Bioderma one right now and it yellowish orange and very matte. Like it makes my skin crepey matte. I only wear it around the house!
  12. I have yet to find a tinted sunscreen that looks like a foundation but I would love to find one. The Cerave one isn't horrible but it does kind of feel a bit heavy. I have extremely sensitive and oily skin and I haven't found one I really like.
  13. This! When I was still working I would have to send three individual emails, spaced apart, to get three questions answered LOL. I would have to get one question answered before I could ask the next.
  14. The use of I's instead of my. I see this more in type (blogs and social media posts mostly). Example: Today is John and I's anniversary. I am also guilty of run on sentences!
  15. Going by your signature I'm assuming your oldest is around 25, and your middle is around 22. I would think at these ages they wouldn't need an "emergency contact" list. My girls are 21 and 18 and they both have a number of people in their lives they can contact if the need arises. We don't leave a specific list of people to call. If the house is on the fire or there is a medical emergency they know to call 911. Anything else they can work out on their own. DH would probably be the first they would call. I too would be surprised if DD21's boyfriend's mother let me I know I was an emergency contact for him.
  16. I didn't realize this was a mandate, I thought it was an option left on the table. Although I do agree it may be a bad idea to pursue. Roberts left open the possibility of colleges' considering the discussion of race in an individual student's application, citing the example of someone who personally encountered racial discrimination. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-strikes-affirmative-action-programs-harvard-unc-rcna66770
  17. Yes! I didn't buy a color laser printer, and I wish I had. We have a cheap ink jet for the rare times we want color. Pros: Cheaper in the long time, better print quality Cons: The printers do cost more initially. I went from spending about $120/year on ink to purchasing a $60 toner cartridge every 18 months. My current cartridge is generic that I paid $20 for and it works just fine. I do regret not spending more on a color printer.
  18. I made some mock mai tai's a couple of weeks ago. (I think...it was something I found on pinterest). Anway - it was a blend of pineapple/orange juice and Sprite. The recipe also called for grenadine but I thought it was better without. It won't be super pretty, kind of a bland yellow color which may be a bit of a turn off. But I thought it tasted good and was refreshing. You could probably do two bottles of Sprint to one carton of juice. Any combo will taste nice. I think in my are most people do red Hawaiian punch and Sprite. Sherbet punches are not very popular here. Punch can be a as simple as a fizzy sweet something (Sprite, 7 up, ginger ale) plus some other sweet fruity thing (prepared Kool-Aid, Hawaiin Punch).
  19. I knew there was a wipe I could order but I couldn't remember the name of it. I will have to get some. I'm not a fan of doxy either. I will probably stop taking it when the coupon runs out. I agree about the diet - I need to get back on board with it. The believe the med is pretty new.
  20. I would say it depends on how much room. If it's a tight squeeze it do pass facing away because I like to have the seat backs to hold onto and you can kind of slightly bend at the knee. I do agree it's rude but sometimes the easier (and quicker) way is best.
  21. This looks really good! My skin does really well with products with green tea.
  22. I just ordered this from Care to Beauty https://www.caretobeauty.com/gh/rosacure-intensive-trpv1-protective-emulsion-spf30-30ml/ It sounds promising.
  23. I don't have pustules either. Actually sometimes I do get the bumps on my chest, not my face. I am not seeing much improvement with the Azelaic acid. I have to be careful with Niacinamide - too much is irritating for me. I am really trying to get on top of my diet and lowering overall inflammation. It's hard to tell which foods cause a flare. I also have eczema and arthritis (oesteo) My eczema has been pretty much under control for the last couple of years. The heat is probably my biggest flare and it's so hard to avoid. Even just daily house cleaning can get me flushed.
  24. I take the doxycycline orally. It is supposed help with ocular rosacea. My eyes are still itchy and dry so I can't say for sure if it helps a lot.
