  1. We loved using Galloping the Globe and Eat Your Way Around the World! We still get them out now and then when we have a missionary or missions conference at our church. Pam
  2. I am going to miss the reviews and chat SO MUCH! This is terrible! ? Pam
  3. Is homeschoolreviews.com gone for good? ? Or is it just me who is having troubles? It hasn't been up for a week or so. (Please let me know if I am not allowed to post about another site.) Pam
  4. I had a dozen of these Reader's Digest Skill Builders of different grade levels. They are old, but great stories. There are comp. questions, etc. I might still have them in my boxes. ?
  5. I'll have to look into that further. Thanks! Pam
  6. It's hard to switch to anything after learning 'Think to Spell' method of SWR. The first page I saw as a sample in HTTS was going over words like 'again' and 'across'. They describe these words as words with the beginning A saying /u/. We learned it as saying /A/ at the end of a syllable. BUT, even learning Think to Spell for so many years, it still has not improved my boys' spelling. Maybe they all really don't learn the same. ? Pam
  7. We worked at least 3 years on SWR. We did 2 years of field testing Liz FitzGerald's lesson plans for it. They did dictation every day with that. We didn't do typing. I thought it wouldn't be as helpful because you don't form the letters when you type. I need to rethink that. We have typing instructor. I can add spelling to it. Looking into your suggestions. THANKS! Pam
  8. What are the similarities and differences? Would you recommend one over the other? This would be for 11, 13, and 14 year old boys. We have used SWR mostly, but they have REALLY gotten tired of it! We fumbled around last year. I need something to dig my heels into. Not interested in AAS at this point. Pam
  9. Are the Task Cards on the CD-ROM the same as the ones in the box of cards you can purchase? Pam
  10. [I just came to this board to look for some Writing ideas and reviews! I don't remember ever being on this particular board for middle school.] Has anyone used this (Put That in Writing)?https://www.exodusbooks.com/put-that-in-writing/8081/It has a good review, and I downloaded the samples, but I am hoping for some reviews from someone who's used it.
  11. Has anyone used the BIOLOGY VIDEO INSTRUCTION DVD? Was it helpful? Would you recommend it? Pam
  12. Charlene Notgrass is trying to get Our Star Spangled Story (for grades 1-4) out for next school year. Pam
  13. Why would you NOT do ANYTHING else than Apologia for high school? What can you contrast it with that you tried and it failed? Pam
  14. I've read mixed views on this. Some say there is no problem going into high school science with just the Anatomy and Chem/Physics books. I appreciate your input, though! It makes me dig deeper. I keep changing my mind. (as usual :( ) I am keeping Rainbow until I decide on 8th. Pam
  15. Has anyone done any of these? Are they high school credit worthy? (I know the Anatomy one is only 1/2 a year until they finish it) I am looking for something besides Apologia reviews. http://www.friendlybiology.com/ http://www.friendlychemistry.com/ http://www.friendlyanatomy.com/ Pam
  16. Truthfully, I'm not a big fan either, but I know of the one we did with 2 older dc, it was a huge hit, so I'll grin and bear it. :) Pam
  17. Well, I'm going to go for it... 3 Zoology for 6th (IF I put him in 6th next year. He was 4th this year), Anatomy & Physiology for 7th, and then Chemistry & Physics (OR Rainbow) for 8th. Just a plan. I'll decide for sure after the CHAP Convention, and I look at things and talk to people. Pam
  18. Has anyone done all 3 Zoology books in 1 year? Thinking if this is do-able with 11-12 year old. Pam
  19. Could elementary be enough without Rainbow or middle school Physics to prepare the child enough for high school? Pam
  20. THANK YOU! What do you think of the elementary Chemistry and Physics compared to middle school Physical Science? Pam
