Hi all, new here but not new to homeschooling. I homeschooled for eight years, my oldest child was in seventh/youngest 2nd. They have been in private school for a few years. Now my second child, who is going into 9th, is going to be homeschooled. So I'm researching, researching. I'm now onto English/Lit. :)
They used Abeka last year and they also use that for 9th grade at that school. I'm not really into Abeka as far as the literature end goes. It's great for grammar/writing reports but I asked her what "real" books she read this past year....she said none. They all read shortened versions of books/stories in Abeka's books. I think I want to do something different.
I was looking at BJU Press or maybe Abeka grammar/writing book and reading our own books....classic good stories mostly.
I don't know.......anyone have any ideas? I will tell you, I like the structure of Abeka/BJU as far as telling you what to do everyday. I'm not an organizer. It's not my strength at all so I need to consider that.
Thanks for your help. :)
