Wow-that is great, Rivka! Where is this happening? Pm me if you'd rather not shore in public.

Christmas Eve at the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore! It's a fairly stripped-down version of the story, with a teenaged narrator providing most of the exposition, but Alex still gets a number of great lines.

Sounds wonderful. We have read the book a few times and seen the movie. I wish there was a local play.

  3. Alex is having a slumber party. It's only 9:54 and I am well past ready for bed.

I hope you got some sleep! I hate slumber parties. Who decided that is the "it" thing for tween girls to do for their birthdays? Parents tired of parties at jumpy play centers?

  4. Anxiety dream last night that I forgot to wrap any Christmas presents and had to do it at 3am Christmas morning.

I usually set aside an evening earlier in the week and settle down with all my wrapping, a nice glass of wine, and the old B&W version of Miracle on 34th Street.

I wrap mine as they come in. Christmas morning is hard enough without the sleep deprivation.

I had a similar dream except I did not get all my shopping complete and felt bad that my boys did not have any gifts.....

  5. Augh! Colin has pinkeye.

  6. Away from my kids at a hotel. Woke up at the same time anyway. Sigh.

I love this from one of Khristne Billerbeck's books. Paphrasing here..but was something like"officially they are called yoga pants. Unofficially they are the pants that I eat ice cream in." Love that.

  14. I can't wrench my attention away from the Alecia Pennington thread. It's making me so sad.

I didn't hear about the case until today but got scared off by the length of the thread. The whole case just seems so odd and sad :-(

47 books on the coffee table is perfectly reasonable. Now how many do you have on your kitchen floor?

    4. Rivka

      Rivka

Beaners, zero. Zero books on the kitchen floor. (Don't ask about books on the service bar, the bar chairs, or the birdseed box.)

  20. I love your posts! I'm so glad you came on this board. :D

  21. I really enjoyed meeting you at the conference! I hope your MIL is okay.

Swimmermom3, I know someone whose mother in law sent her 2 year old a drum set when his new baby brother was born. Can you imagine anything worse?
