  1. That is weird. It was $25. Maybe that seller sold out?
  2. Sorry I was away from my computer and can't seem to log in on my phone. The link is... https://www.amazon.com/s/browse/ref=gbph_tit_m-2_e18f_7284a60b?node=13548845011&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=047794f2-10c4-44e3-b008-407980fce18f&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=5550343011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=24TP7PNN8P56TRY4E6PN
  3. I know I am not the only game hoarder around so I wanted to let you know that Amazon has a few games on their deal of the day. I am looking very strongly at Ticket to Ride, Kingdomino, and Gravity Maze. It isn't lots of games but maybe something you need to snag for Christmas.
  4. We don't usually play with two players only but there are a few that I think would work. Abalone and Hive are two player games. Shut the Box is a one player game that we love competing with one another to get a better score. It is educational though. These others are games that I think would work well.... Kerala, Quirkle, Blockus, Ubongo and Enchanted Forest.
  5. I have an obsession with games. As a family of 8, we love games especially my 6, 8, and 11 yr old, who are not too cool to play with mom and dad. For this reason some of our favorites are aimed more at the younger ages but still fun for adults. Some of the games are our go to games, a few we haven't even played yet, and some are duds that we are going to give one or two more tries before final judgement. Even so you can never have too many games, right? I would love to know what games you own or must own after playing. My two cabinets of games consist of.... Apples to Apples Jr Apples to Apples regular Abalone (not a go to game but still a pretty fun 2 player game...hate the lopsided box though) Dixit (love this- family fav) Cadoo Pictionary Taboo Sequence Flashlights and Fireflies Trinominoes Shut the Box (love this so much...my daughter came home from her honeymoon and was telling me about this great game her and her dh played while inside on rainy day. I listened and informed her that it was on the second shelf in the red cabinet on the right in a blue box. She couldn't believe it.) Steam of Time (haven't played yet) Stratego (both sons, ages 8 and 18, and dad love this one) Munchkin Legends (didn't like at all. played once and hated it. dh doesn't care for this kind of game at all. it was so confusing. willing to give one more shot...someday.) Garden Dice (strangely enough this is a favorite of my 6, 8, and 11 yrs old. they were better at it than I. I do like it just not a must play.) Tally Ho (haven't played) Ghost Blitz (a must have game. It is so simple yet so difficult. Makes your mind really work. The kids tend to kill us older people at it. Its the first we pull out when there are newbies. Easy and Quick yet Fun and Aggravating) Hive ( Just played it this weekend and must have played at least 20 rounds between everyone. Everyone seemed to like it. Don't know yet if it will be a first choice of anybody but definitely up there.) Kerala (my younger kids said they enjoyed this but didn't love it. Myself and my 11 yr old really loved it. My nongamer husband liked it okay which is a plus because he is usually ho-hum about games. ) Sorry Rummikub (havne't played) Quip Qubes (haven't played) Scrabble (classic) Battleship (all of us like this one but never the first pull unless its the two boys choosing) Upwords (haven't played) King of New York (everyone in the family liked this one) Wits and Wagers Party Edition (older kids loved this and the youngers were jealous they couldn't join in. It is always lots of fun.) Minute to Win It Quirkle (we all like this except my 16 yr old daughter. She hates it for some reason but doesn't really know why.) Blockus (16 yr old's favorite game even though she doesn't usually like games. All of us enjoy it as well and its one of the first we choose.) Would You Rather Dr. Eureka (another must have game. Simple yet more fun than you would expect.) Battlesheep (one of our favorite games and first pulls.) Tsuro (played a couple of times but not a favorite by anyone but we don't hate it) Tumult Royale (haven't played) Yatzee Kings in the Corner (haven't played) Bonanza (haven't played) The Resistance (haven't played) Ubongo ( a favorite of ours. we have played this with guests who tend to love it as well. ) Safari Rush Hour (great single player game that teaches logic) Lattice (just ok. nobody loves it but doesn't hate it either) Guestures Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader Mad Gab Dominoes (family favorite especially by dh) Hoot Owl Hoot (good cooperative game for preschool....too young for us now) Rummy (enjoy this with my mom) Rook (dh's favorite card game) Lagoonies (cute kids game but one they usually play with young kids only as its not fun for adults) Operation Pop the Pig Pie Face Showdown Blurt Jenga Rumplestilskin (boring to me but kids liked it somewhat) Squarrels Bad Beets Rat a Tat Cat (one of our favorite kids games) Frog Juice (expected to like this more than we did...not bad just not great) Gubs Sleeping Queens (an all time favorite must have for kids but interesting for adults) Twelve Days of Christmas Card Game (really enjoyed this game but we only play it at Christmas) Minecraft Card Game (haven't played) Yeti in My Speghetti Dinosaurs Extinct Labrinth Enchanted Forest (one of the best memory games by far yet there is more to the game than just that. Definitely a must have. However we don't pull it out often cause it does take a while to play.) Bugs in the Kitchen (surprisingly fun) Spot It Frozen Checkers Tick Tac Toe Picture Charades Memory Game Pictionary Jr Slamwhich Shopkins (Trouble) Candyland (shoot me if I have to play this one) Stars Wars 6 in 1 games Headbandz Shopkins Supermarket Scramble Connect Four Fibber (kids love to play this) Go Fish Loteria Bejeweled I Spy Eagle Eye Goblet Gobblers The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game (another great young, preschool game but not fun for adults) Skipbo (a favorite of mine and my mother-in-law) Ratuki (my kids love this game) Linko (haven't played yet) Phase 10 (used to play with my sister-in-law....been a while but enjoyed it) Pit (haven't played) Blink (fast but fun game) Roll For It (know we have played but can't remember) Scrimish (we only played once and liked it but not a first pull) Coup (just bought...haven't played) Love Letter (just bought...haven't played) Sushi Go (surprisingly fun. we all choose this one frequently) Tenzi (just ok) Dutch Blitz (a must have for every age. does get a little hectic with large groups but so much fun.) Code Master (my daughter likes this one. She is really into learning coding.) Sequence States Dino Math Tracks Man Bites Dog Timeline Events Timeline American Banana Grams Speed (great math game...believe a homeschooler designed this)
  6. Having lived through a flood here in Louisiana a year ago there are some things that others may not realize. Unless you actually have your items on the garbage pile at the road, you will not be reimbursed with Fema or insurance. People didn't realize this at first and looters were stealing washers, dryers, etc from the pile of debris at the roads before they had been inspected and verified. This made it very difficult for some to prove they had these items and therefore get reimbursed. It was a huge problem here. Matter of fact, shortly after everyone started gutting their homes, we were asked to not pile stuff at the roads for garbage collection until it could be verified instead making a pile closer to your home only to move it later. This created more work than you can imagine but it was necessary. There is another side of this which I don't personally understand but I know that it is a feeling of many here. Even once everything was verified and placed on the road for garbage pick up, it was illegal to "pick through" garbage. Many people were so raw emotionally. When we drove up and saw piles of stuff piled higher than the house, it felt like another blow to have people raffle through to see what they deemed good enough for them. Many people stated that these are their memories and lives you are going through. It felt to them like someone digging up graves. This may not be connected to looting but its something that hit me like a ton of bricks. I went to a meeting at a person's home recently. Everything in her home was stunningly beautiful. She told us that she was able to choose everything just as she liked it thanks to the flood and starting over with only stud walls and a roof. Later when I was home, I told my dh that I loved her large buit-in bookcase covering one entire wall of the living room along with all the art but I couldn't understand why there were no personal items. Not a single photo to be seen. When we walked through the home, there were so few in the private spaces as well. Originally I thought it was due to her minimalist style but dh pointed out that she probably didn't have any photos having lost them in the floods. That just hit me like a ton of bricks. I know she lost a toddler grandchild to a horrible accident a few years ago and can't help but wonder if she even has a photo of her. So many flooded and lost all. Her children flooded as well. Last night when we went back to her home I overheard her thank someone for the compliments on the bookcase but that sadly most of the wicker boxes in the bottom were empty. She used them for decor because she has nothing to fill them. Its been 13 months now. Sometimes things are just things but many times they are more than that.
  7. As one of the few that didn't flood in our area last year in Louisiana, I remember how happy I was that we were spared, devastated for our friends, guilt ridden as to why them and not us, and just emotionally raw and spent. There is no person left unscathed by a disaster such as this. Sadly the weeks after the flood were just as difficult but in a different way. We worked nonstop trying to help those that flooded whether that meant by repairing the damage, housing, or feeding them. Yet in all of this disaster and hardship, I also look back at it as a time of great humanity. People didn't care whether you were poor or rich, your race, political views or education level. You were human and that is all that mattered. Everyone helped everyone. When you felt you could go on no more there was someone willing to step in in whatever capacity you needed. It truly was miraculous. I have typed this so many times and deleted because I just can't seem to write what my heart feels. Just know we are praying and many here in Louisiana are already starting to help in various ways. Edited to add... I quoted you because you seem to feel as we did then when we were one of the lucky ones. My post is truly meant for all Texans.
  8. My son totally freaked out about the eclipse this week. He is going through a stage of being super afraid of things. We finally calmed him and today in school we discussed making pinhole camera boxes to view the eclipse. He watched the video and then in a very matter of fact tone stated, "I'm not going first. " Fast forward to building the pinhole boxes. Doesn't bode well for us that we are building a safer way to look at the eclipse so we don't go blind but have an accident doing so. LOL. My teen was taping her box and got the tape crinkled. Trying to fix the tape she somehow dislodged it causing it to shoot through the air skipping over her two other siblings and landing on the top of my son's head. He immediately reached up and tried to remove it but it became more tangled. My 11 yr old daughter proceeded to "help" with him screaming don't jerk it. She wasn't getting anywhere and I was tired of all the tomfoolery so I called him to my side so mom could help. Before my daughters could stop him, I reached over and with one swift jerk dislodged the tape along with just a wee bit of hair. Did I mention my daughters don't let me do their hair cause I am so impatient with it. In the end we have three beautifully made boxes, one sun phobic son with just a small patch of balding, and the high hopes that nobody goes blind. Yep, I am slaying this mommy and homeschooling day.
  9. Thank you so much for the information. The doctor wants to rule out cancer before discussing the fibroid and cyst. He said they are a secondary concern. The fibroid could be causing the heavy bleeding but we are unsure.
  10. I have been on my period for 3 weeks now. It was extremely heavy. One day I used 4 of the 10 hour pads in a little over an hour. This was the worst but usually it was only 1-2 pads every hour. TMI...it wasn't that it was so much blood but that I was having extreme clotting and when one would break lose it would fill the pad too quickly. Anyway. I am finally having lighter days. Yesterday I considered it pretty non existent using only 3 pads during the day and one tiny clot about the size of a dime. When I went to see the doctor for my biopsy, I told him today was a light day and he said he was amazed if this was a light day. He said for most women it was considered heavy. I have had heavy periods for years now so I have grown accustomed to staying at home on my heaviest 2-3 days. Anyway, I am ahead of myself. I went for my visit last week due to the period problems. They did a pap smear , bloodwork, and ultrasound. I have an enlarged ovary, a cyst on ovary, one fibroid, thickened uterus wall lining, and abnormal cells. Thyroid is fine. They wanted to do a biopsy to rule out cancer which is why I was there yesterday. The doctor said he wants me to take iron pills for anemia. He said due to my being on blood pressure medicine, birth control pills isn't the best choice for me regulating my period. It can make blood pressure higher. He stated he wants to stop my period for now and prescribed Provera 10 mg per pill. Dosage is 4 daily for 4 days, 3 daily for 3 days, 2 daily for 20 days. He didn't give me any side effects or things to be concerned about. Just verified that my pregnancy test was negative. I received the pamphlet with meds and am concerned about all the side effects. In one portion it does state to have your blood pressure checked regularly. Also, I have never been diagnosed as a diabetic but mine does run high. This morning I tested at 135 when I awoke. The pamphlet states "If you have high blood sugar you need to watch it closely." It also states that you need to tell doctor of cancer of uterus or ovary or vaginal bleeding where cause isn't known before taking this drug. Of course he knows but I haven't gotten the biopsy back yet. Then I went online and saw all the reviews of the drug. Many stated horrible mood swings anger being most drastic and I struggle with that already. Facial hair, yuck! Heavy painful bleeding...already have that. Most of these were from women taking just 10 mg not 40 for 4 days decreasing over the month. Most didn't even take it for longer than 2 weeks. Now I don't know what to do. I can handle my periods now as they are like my normal light days. Of course I will have a random heavy day/time but as long as it isn't steady like before, I am not overly concerned. I don't like it but don't want to remedy the period problems by adding new problems. Has anyone here used Provera and know if the side effects are pretty spot on especially if this high a dose. Or is this dose not really that high? I would love your advice.
  11. I love ours. We bought an extra large one that has interchangeable plates. We purchased deep Belgian waffle plates for it. This replaced both our waffle iron and regular griddle while still having The groved/grill side for the paninis. I believe we can cook 4 large waffles at a time or two super large paninis. Ours is cuisinart brand and something we use all the time. Just bought the instapot but haven't used it yet.
  12. It is a very serious game in hubby's family. They all grew up playing and can add numbers so quickly. My husband and his father are great at knowing who has what dominoes to play within a few rounds of the game if playing with serious players. It throws them if they are playing with beginners because you never know if they really know which is the best domino to play or are just picking a great color. (Uhm...that might have been me that I speak of. Hubby wasn't thrilled to play with me as his partner and father in law didn't like our bickering. He thought dh was being too hard on me. Well, he changed his mind when he had been turning out 6's the entire game so that he could block the game and win points but I chose to not play the "correct" domino. He asked why I didn't play whatever one that he knew I had which would have successfully blocked game and I told him I couldn't decide between the two so I chose the prettier colored domino. He told dh he could have his wife back. It is now a family joke. I still am not good enough to figure out what others have based on the way they are playing or whats left but I do understand to watch for blocking the board. I have even blocked it once playing against them!)
  13. I just had to buy a new one. We bought a side by side black stainless steel which is not supposed to show fingerprints. I would have preferred the freezer on the bottom like my mom's but we wanted the water/ice on the door. The freezer on the bottom ones with door water were out of our price range. My kids love the filtered door water. We realized since ours broke that they drink more water if it is working. We also have a filter pitcher but they never refill it. The only reason I don't love the side by side is the limited freezer space, difficult to fit cookie sheets and pizza but we have another stand alone freezer so it wasn't a necessity.
  14. Oh how could I forget one of my favorite games that was probably the biggest surprise for us. I bought it for my 5 yr old and the entire family loves it. Its top three on my list. Its Enchanted Forest. It is a spin on Memory board games. The only thing that keeps us from playing it more often is its length of play time which can be quite long. Funny thing is, my youngest kids are better at it than the older ones. They are ruthless too, sending people back to start and switching up the cards. Definitely a must have. My 22 yr old is the only one that doesn't like it because she can never remember what is under all the trees and never wins.
  15. We have a large spread of ages here too. For us the top go to games regardless of ages are ... Sleeping Queens (honestly never found a person of any age that didn't like it. I love it and I am not the target age for it.) Quirkle and Blokus are both shape games that are easy to play regardless of ages. Quirkle is more time consuming but it is my favorite of the two. My teen loves Blokus better. Dixit...Where has this game been all my life. I bought it a while back and only recently opened it. Somehow it got lost in the shuffle of games. The night that we opened it we must have played it no less than 7 times. My hubby doesn't love any game other than Dominoes and he loved it. Definitely a must have. My 5 year old did find it a little difficult at first but slowly she got better at giving clues. Battle Sheep is a great little game for four players. It is one of the first that my kids pull out. It is definitely a strategy game but my 5 yr old can still play it and has won a couple of times. Dutch Blitz is so much fun. It may be my favorite card game ever. All my kids from 5-22 love it. We always take it to visit cousins and they love it as well. Once we forgot to bring it and they were so disappointed. I do suggest for a large family to buy the second set, different color box with different color cards, but it can get crazy with that many going at once. Picture Charades is a great family game. I really didn't think I would like it as the cards have simple pictures to act out rather than words. Sometimes the most simple thing can be the most difficult to act and guess. My husband will even play this one without pouting much. LOL. It has never been difficult to get my teens to play with the younger kids, 5, 8, and 10 which is sometimes difficult. Dominoes has to be mentioned for the sake of my husband,. We have found that if you start early, it is a game that kids can learn as they age. I am horrible at it because I started only a couple of years ago. My husband is a genius with numbers and he credits dominoes. It isn't as much fun for an expert player to play with a novice but it still keeps them on their toes as they can't figure out what will be played next while allowing the beginner to learn. Definitely something I would include in my must have games. Bad Beets is up there on our list as a card bluffing game. It is not one that we pull out as much as the previous listed but a good game. Its cheap and can work with lots of ages.
  16. Can you link to the sale? Has anyone ever played Steam Time? It is 47% discounted but I am just not sure. Maybe if some of you have played it and loved it. You've never led me astray before.
  17. The last 6 months have been really tough for us in many ways but we have made it through or are making it through better than I could imagine. There have been many times over the years where it would have nearly broken our family either emotionally or financially but this year it has shown me how blessed I really am. Not patting myself on the back as I don't like each individual hardship and I have struggled with it but overall I can see a silver lining and am trying to stay focused on that. So that being said, maybe you are going through a hard time and just need a laugh. I offer two of my own stories......Enjoy. Just My Luck, Times Two Last year I contacted a local driver's ed school to sign up my son. Later that afternoon I received a call asking if I could stop by with payment to hold his spot. I was in a hurry but said sure. I swung by after picking son up from school. I pulled up to the school and hopped quickly out of suburban. Suddenly I felt something hit me in the rear end and it took a second to realize it was the truck rolling forward. Being a 6' tall plus sized lady that doesn't do yoga or sports, I attempted but failed miserably at jumping in the truck to stop its forward momentum and instead yelled at my son to help from the passenger's seat. As a non driver and embarrassed teen boy he just stared at me while shaking his head. In what seemed like minutes of struggle, in actuality only seconds, the truck finally hit the curb and stopped. I was thanking God for the curb because the wall to driver's ed building was too close for comfort. UNTIL....I turned around and standing watching it all was none other than the driver's ed instructor. She asked, "Carol?" Needless to say, I was so happy that it was my son's class and not mine and I would never have to see her again. UNTIL......Fast forward a year. My daughter has her first "date" which means the boy comes and hangs out at our house with the family. It was a nice night and he was a very nice boy. When he returned home he told his mom about us and she asked if my daughter was any kin to "Ds's name". He replied, "yes, its her brother.. Then she said is her mom's name Carol. Yep, you guessed it my daughter is dating her son. She told her son, " Do you know that funny story I tell everyone about one of my student's mom's nearly plowing through our building? Well, she is the woman." Yep that is me. My luck.. first time to ever not put car in park and it nearly takes out driver's ed building with instructor watching AND then my daughter dates the son of instructor after it is a family joke for a year. Oh and do you know that when a truck rolls into your rear, it will leave you with a bruise in the shape of the latch hold located inside the frame of door? It will make it so sore that you won't even be able to sit on that cheek for days and sore to the touch for weeks. Even a year later, long after bruise and soreness disappears, you will have what appears to be a permanent tattoo of the square shaped latch? I have always liked tattoos but don't think this is what I had in mind. Breaking News: Cheetah Loose in ****** Trailer Park My daughter's friend is being raised by her grandma and they live in a part of town that is frequently newsworthy for not so nice activity. The grandma asked us to come to a birthday party at her home and it was after dark when we left. I noticed when I arrived that her steps were rotten and in disrepair especially on one side. This was only made worse by the flood waters in this area only weeks before. When I was leaving I made sure to step on the best side of the steps. All was good until gma stepped on the same step as I. Immediately the entire risers gave away knocking her back into the trailer and flipping me to the side. My purse snagged the doorknob jerking my arm behind my back at an odd angle, my face was near the ground, and legs bent up on different steps. I was dangling upside down with only my cheetah print pant covered buttocks shining under the streetlight. Both kids, ages 9, were screaming and gma climbed down trying to help me up. I couldn't move due to my position and kept saying just unhook my purse so I can get down. The arm that was twisted painfully behind me was pulling up the longer that I dangled and I was straining to figure out a way to get down. Did I mention steps were over 4' high? To recap, I was straining to get unhooked, in pain, and trying to get freaked out gma to stop trying to lift me but instead unhook my purse. She moved around behind me and much to my chagrin finally decided to listen to what I was saying. She had to lean over to hear over the screaming girls and right as her head was near my cheetah print covered butt, I strained too hard and farted. I was hoping it was a little fart that she couldn't notice but no. My daughter told me later, "Mom did you know that you farted in her face right as she knelt down and it was so loud that we could hear it on the sidewalk by the steps." Ugh! Immediately after I let it rip, my purse gave way on its own and I fell first onto her cat crate, breaking it, and tumbling face first into the mud unable to brace myself with hurt arm. Surprisingly I was able to get up without any broken bones. The steps didn't fair as well as not one survived. Miraculously the only injuries other than broken pride were bruises all over my body, a cut on hip, two cuts in perfect shape and size of the porch's nail heads, general soreness for a couple days, and limited movement in my arm/shoulder for a couple of weeks. Oh and the loss of the only expensive purse I have ever bought myself. I had to help the gma and girl back in trailer as they had no steps and hubby had to leave for work at 3:00 the next morning to fix her a temporary way to get out of trailer. The following weekend we intended to build her steps to replace the ones I broke even though it wasn't really my fault as we knew she couldn't afford new ones but when her church heard what happened, they donated some to her. As to how much of the story she told her church, I hopefully will never know but I do know that a cheetah came through late one night and did major damage. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Edited to add...Yes, my profile photo shows me rocking my cheetah long before the rampage.
  18. NM...I wasn't voting in all three. Now there has to be more LA folks here besides me.
  19. Me neither. I am not sure why. I am in Louisiana btw.
  20. Now that is an idea and still cheaper than the regular price for larger pot.
  21. Do y'all that have the 6 quart wish you had gotten bigger or is it the perfect size? We are a family of 7 so large meals are a priority.
  22. We use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Slingtv, and CW app (they removed all of their shows from Hulu this year.) We also watch movies on Vidangel. You can rent for $1-2 per night plus you choose the filters you want. I love it. I was always forgetting to take my redbox movies back and on vidangel I have it set for auto return.
  23. I love ours new one. We had one years ago with our lab that never worked on her. You would see her get ready and bolt right through it preparing to be shocked. She was the hardest dog to train in every way so it was no suprise when she did this as well. Finally we had to give up on using it with her. Since this was one of the first of its kind, they have improved greatly imo. Now we have one for our 2 acres that is for stubborn dogs. We no longer have our lab but have two mutts, a very stubborn beagle/pitt and a eager to please mountain cur. Indy, the cur, was never a problem when we would let her outside even before the fence. She always stuck around and would come when called. Still we worried if we allowed her and Lola, the pitt together outside she might follow Lola's example. Once we installed the fence, Indy was easy as ever to train and has no intention of crossing it. She has only been shocked once when Lola was playing with her and tackled her causing her to tumble across the line. We have Indy's on lowest shock setting so she quickly came back to us and never ventures that close anymore even without collar on. Lola on the other hand, the day she tackled Indy, she too went over the line and got shocked but she kept going. We had her set to level three. She is easy to train in every way except when it comes to running off. She will bolt through the door given the chance and always runs down the highway and stays gone until dark. It doesn't matter how much training we do with her. She knows so many commands and is flawless with them but refuses to learn stay or come when outside. She does them perfectly inside. She was shocked three times while on the leash, level one setting, and we were walking her around near the flags. She can hear the beeps from her reaction but just didn't care. We upped it to level two before allowing her off leash and it worked for an hour. Then she bolted through and came back later that night as usual. We turned off the fence for her to cross back over. Then we upped it to a three into which she tackled Indy and kept going. We upped it to four after that and twice she was shocked, once successfully running through. So we upped it to five. Within ten minutes of the highest setting she attempted to run through it but when it shocked her she yelped and immediately turned around and ran to me. A little later that day I heard her yelp again from the backyard and expected her to have gotten through again but she came running to find me in the front. It has been a week since then and she hasn't attempted to run through or get close again. I am not comfortable letting them out if I am not in the yard yet because of Lola. I think she may have learned her lesson as the last time she played all day with Indy and kids while I raked leaves then when we went into the house, I called and she came. Stubborn dog fence was definitely the way to go for her. Btw, it wasn't hard to install just time consuming. My son used an edger to dig the trench.
  24. I am not a huge fan of either candidate, can't decide who to vote for, but I almost want to put up a I support Donald jock strap to see the reaction I would get in our small town.
