  1. I know what you mean and this is only year number 8 for us. :grouphug:
  2. I am so happy that things are starting to move forward for you and your family. :grouphug:
  3. Curtains are simple. You can actuall just copy the measurements from standard curtains if measuring scares you. Curtains only come in a couple of sizes. If you search You Tube they have tutorials that helped me to decide that I could totally do it. Good luck!
  4. Lowes and Kmart have great curtains. Also, can you sew? Curtains are the easiest home sewing project you can do.
  5. It really seems crazy to us over here with our temps in the 80's. Enjoy the snow! :001_smile:
  6. I have the Brother sewing machine from Walmart. I have had it for years. I have used it to sew many dresses, costumes, quilt tops, curtains, etc. It is a basic machine, but has everything I have ever needed. If you look on Black Friday, they usually have sewing machines in the ads. I hope you enjoy learning to sew.
  7. I am praying for Hannah and your entire family. There is hope in Christ!!!
  8. My son was a waiter at 16 (small town) at a Mexican restaurant. When we moved back home, he got a job at the roller rink as a floor guard and did the skate counter sometimes too. He wasn't getting enough hours so he found another job. Now, he is a dishwasher at an Italian restaurant.
  9. I will also repeat the sentences until she can repeat them. My daughter is older doind WWE 2, so I am sure that helps too. Did your daughter finish WWE1?
  10. I agree, but it sure is tempting some days. I was waiting for children's choir to start the other day and let my two daughters (9 and 10) play on the playground while we waited. A man came up to them and was asking them something, so I started walking towards him. He asked me if I was their mother (with the tone of utter astoninshment) and when I answered yes, he said, "but they are brown and you are white." Hmmm.. I couldn't even answer, I just stood there stunned. My daughters are darker than me (Pacific Islanders) and are adopted, but come on.
  11. I think it is a great idea to get your food under control, but if you are like me and can't de-stress it is hard to be successful and keep motivated. My children (well 5 of them) were adopted through the foster care system, so I can relate to the different things you are going through. It is definately a unique journey and the stress seems to build until you really don't notice it anymore, but your body does. Try to find time for yourself (no laughing).
  12. No, I do not play with my children except the occasional board or card game. My kids are all pretty close in age and play together.
  13. I agree! I do not know if this is something you can truly understand until you get there though.
  14. I just recently bought the Good Value/Great Value (below store brand) 4lb bag from Smith's on sale for $1.99 a bag. I stocked up because I thought it seemed like a good deal.
  15. My daughters (9 and 10) are both participating in the Bible dress-up day for Awana. They both wanted to be Queen Esther (although Ruth was orignally no. 1 until they heard they could wear a crown). I bought two sheets (purple) from the thrift store and sewed them into dresses. I also bought gold belts and gold material (curtains) to make them more queen like. I will use the gold curtain to make a head piece of some sort. Ruth/Mary would be easy. Get a sheet and cut a hole for the head. Cut the length where you need it. Use the leftover fabric for a head covering and belt. For Ruth you could get grass/hay and carry a basket like she had been reaping grain. For Mary you could have your dd carry Baby Jesus. (We did this a couple of years ago) I hope your dd has a fun night.
  16. I was saved in a Calvary Chapel. I think it is a very good Bible teaching/preaching church. They teach verse by verse. I also do not like how they do not let young children in the service and at one time that would have been a deal breaker for me, but not so much anymore.
