  1.

We've also noticed that the doctors are billing faster, and requiring payment sooner. Twice in the last week, we were told to pay our balance or future appointments would be cancelled, whether we had received the bill yet or not.

    Sigh.

This is probsbly due to electronic billing. The claims are now paid in about two weeks when they used to take a acouple of months.
  2. I have reusable water bottles that I fill at home with filtered tap water. I'd feel no moral qualms about taking it to the theater, because they offer tap water for free anyway. I guess if they made a stink, I could pour out my water and then refill it at the drinking fountain. I would feel uncomfortable taking a store-bought bottle of water, like what they sell at concessions.

  3. I do not think you need to add Spelling Wisdom to Simply Spelling. I use WWE for writing which has the regular dictation and Simply Spelling for studied dictation. They write the passage 4 days and test on the fifth. I use it more CM in that they do not have to hold the entire passage in their mind and then write it. I break it up where needed. I also use R&S spelling for all the rules. R&S has two dictation sentences each week with their spelling tests too. I have them re-write any misspelled words on any of their work, and I let them ask me how to spell anything they need help with during their school work so they do not get in the habit of seeing words misspelled. This combination has really helped my dc who struggle with spelling. Hope this helps!

  4. If you were eligible for Medicaid at the time of the services, the doctor's office must deal with Medicaid. I would continue to call Medicaid until they called the doctor's office and set them straight. The girl at the doctor's office is probably just ignorant about Medicaid and is trying to handle it as if it was a private insurance. If it was private insurance, you would be handling it with the insurance company. I would also send your Medicaid info with a letter to the doctor's office and the collections agency. Usually Medicaid only takes back the money if they found out you had insurance that should have been primary to them at the time of services (all ins. would be before them). Good luck.

  5. My oldest is this way...always has been. She is not who I WANTED her to be... but she is who she is and I love her for it-- and that took a LONG TIME (getting over my disappointment).

Oldest has always been one step behind socially and academically. Always. When she was in elementary (public, private then home since 3rd grade) she always had friends--but once puberty hit--age 12-- Oldest became so 'different' compared to her peers that they shunned her... it was so sad!

Oldest was so behind academically that I nearly gave up on her-- we 'graduated' her at age 19 and she could only write basic paragraphs, never completed a high school Science or History class, had only 2 years of high school Math (and that was like pulling teeth and I'm a math teacher by profession!)... we schooled-- but it just did not stick!

    Fast forward 3 years.

Oldest is now 21. She still lives at home but just put in a deposit on an apartment for next fall. She will be GRADUATING WITH HONORS with a 3 yr degree from the community college this summer!! She has learned the art of writing-- especially useful in her current classes that require 3000 word summaries each week in addition to other research papers! She does put in more hours studying compared to her peers-- but it has paid off!

Love your daughter for who she IS-- encourage her, but don't try to make her into who YOU want her to be.

:grouphug: It can be hard-- don't look at other people's daughters and compare them to yours-- or even compare her to yourself... words of advice I can say now-- that I say/said on a daily basis for the last 21 years.

My dd is special-- a BEAUTIFUL young woman with a HUGE BRIGHT future ahead of her. She just would not be the same without her quirkiness...

Oh and also-- Homeschooling did not make her this way-- we homeschooled because Oldest WAS this way! Best choice we ever made!!!

Thank you for posting this. I really needed to hear this today.
