  1. The new series, year 2005 I believe. My kids are rewatching episodes waiting for the new season, yay! I think "eh, that episode was kind of boring. I'll skip it." Then I sit down and watch and end up crying. We love the Doctor in all his regenerations!
  2. My kids did not do any dissection in their virtual school. Their labs were more about the scientific process rather than a cut and identify. There are online dissection sites that you could use, but dissection is not necessary for a Biology credit. Others may disagree. Personally, I enjoy dissecting animals and figuring out how the parts work. It's just like looking at the xylem and phloem of plants under a microscope. My dd's college intro biology lab this semester does not have any dissecting to which she is very relieved.
  3. As long as I rub sticky food off with a wet rag, the dishes come out clean enough for me. :) We have a smart, digital meter that the electric company reads every day; then they email me the daily cost. Before the emails, I did check the meter myself.
  4. My dishwasher runs once a day, low-energy setting, air dry using a scoop of Borax powder and a squirt of Dawn. Sometimes I just use Dawn when I run out of Borax. Really just a squirt otherwise it's a big foamy mess. Big pots and bowls get a quick hand wash. I track our daily electric usage. It doubles when I wash several hot loads of laundry and all six of us take showers.
  5. There are assessments on the website that you could use. https://www.beastacademy.com/resources/assessments.php I plan on going through level 3 this summer with my 3rd and 5th graders. Unfortunately, my kids don't like the cuteness of it, so it will not be as fun as I was hoping.
  6. Having strong faith in Christ seems to be foundational to Christianity, so therefore faith must be good to Christians. The title of this book is saying that an atheist needs more faith than a Christian making it sound that having a lot of faith is bad.
  7. I always thought having faith was looked upon as a good thing by Christians. Not at my library. Sorry. But I would be interested in your review.
  8. :( I would try to continue homeschooling. I would try to have a list of things they could do on their own and have meals that the kids could prepare on their own for the tough days. I know two moms who continued homeschooling through breast cancer. The moms and their kids are doing well.
  9. I'm a Crustaceanist but that wasn't a choice, so I voted atheist. Praise Jibbers! :tongue_smilie: (Back to lurking.)
  10. Thanks to this thread I found a bag of apples in my pantry that might have gone to rot. :) I've tried all kinds of generic items over the years. Most of the time the name brand was better. Now, mostly everything I buy is name brand. I also have to be picky due to chemical sensitivities. The only store brand products I buy are Publix Greenwise Organic Milk (6 gallons of Organic Valley milk per week is not in the budget.) Publix Greenwise Organic Butter and regular butter when I'm feeling pinchy Publix Greenwise Organic Mustard and Ketchup What really hurts budget wise was going from generic medicine to name brand medicine. I recently realized that the magnesium stearate in my generic ibuprofen made me super sleepy. So now I buy real Advil. But it's worth it because I can take one and get on with my day. It's wonderful!
  11. Exploring out in nature, walking, and dancing to my favorite music.
  12. I hope he makes a full recovery. Thanks for the reminder, regentrude.
