  1. The timecard thing especially I think the boss would want to know about. Is there anyone who could "catch" him when he closes early, like a customer showing up that could report to management? Or some other way that could be documented that he closed early? Then if he fudges the timecard, it would be absolutely normal to report that to management. So yeah, I guess I would be plotting his demise! I don't think I could overlook the condescending and demeaning behavior for any length of time.
  2. I'm not on this board much anymore, but tend to wander here when things seem particularly bad. Thanks for all you guys being here. I feel like the world is stuck in a never-ending cycle of revenge and hate. I *do* understand it. But it will never stop. It sure won't stop after Hamas is eliminated (and they do need to be eliminated). But whatever is necessary to eliminate them will only be fuel for more revenge and hate. And as usual, the children on both sides end up paying the highest price. It never ends. What a sad world we live in. Prayers for everyone suffering right now.
  3. I shared that poem on my facebook a few days ago with a story about my mom. She was a German child during WW2 and remembers hiding in the bomb shelters, terrified that she would burn to death. That's just one of her memories. As an adult she was grateful for the Allies, she said she knew she would have just been "breeding stock" otherwise. She even gave a speech at an American veteran memorial. But the childhood trauma never goes away and infected her whole life. All children deserve to be grieved for.
  4. Not a country fan, thought the new version was "meh". Loved the Tracy Chapman version, yes a girl song I think because so much of what she goes through seems female to me. I think in the digital age it will prompt more interest in the original song. But yes, a really good song meets you where you are. What always hit me the most, that applies to SO MANY THINGS is this line... Leave tonight or live and die this way.
  5. I read something similar. I'm kind of disappointed we haven't seen a nasal vaccine for COVID yet. Considering that the vaxxes were not that great at preventing initial illness/infection, I read a lot saying that a nasal vaccine might help that.
  6. I really wanted to wait for Novovax also. I can't seem to find any info on the timeline? I'm wondering if I should keep waiting or go ahead and go for the usual booster.
  7. Someone I know that is conservative but I thought was reasonable asked me yesterday, did you hear all the things going around about the emergency alert? I did a hard eye roll and said yeah! But then she kind of looked at me and said, "but why are they doing it really, isn't it kind of suspicious?" Ya'll....really? Is it just sucking in everyone now?
  8. I really like that I can find the outfits if I like them. I bought several things they have linked and they all turned out looking really good on me.
  9. Two people expose to positive COVID, then sick with negative tests. One person negative test and then later a positive PCR test.
  10. Totally anecdotal, but in my local area the at home tests have not been very reliable. I would hesitate to trust a negative test at this point, although you could probably trust a positive.
  11. I get good ideas by finding someone who posts fashion outfits but has my body type on instagram. You can search "mid size fashion" or "plus size fashion" etc depending on your body type. It took awhile but I found a mid size tall girl, plus a couple others with big tummies! They post outfits but then you can follow the links for the posts in their bio. So if I like something I can actually go and buy it! Some of them I weeded out because they only posted expensive things. The ones I still follow wear things from Amazon, AE, even Walmart sometimes. This has really updated my wardrobe! Edit, here are a few I follow: She's tall like me but I'm bigger than her https://www.instagram.com/thatothertallgirl/ https://www.instagram.com/moreclothesthansense/ https://www.instagram.com/balkanina/ https://www.instagram.com/oliviafredacurves/
  12. No surprise. But even pseudoephedrine doesn't really help me. When I'm sick I take guaifenesin which keeps me from getting a sinus infection, but nothing really helps with the congestion.
  13. Born in the South, raised by German mother. Definitely walk and wok are different. Talk and tok are different. Stalk and stock are different.
  14. This is dead on accurate. When we were in marriage counseling many years ago, the counselor stressed how important it was to give things an "honest chance". If you are not able to "suspend disbelief" for even a short period of time, to be willing to think the partner has a real chance to change, you will not be successful in rebuilding. And I totally get why that might not be possible after years of trauma.
  15. That is my understanding as well. The vaccine produces an immune response similar (but of course different from) the actual virus. I speculate that the people that have a reaction to the vaccine might be the same people who would have a similar but even more extreme reaction to the actual infection. Of course there is no way to know that. But vaccine side effects seem to often mirror actual infection side effects. I had a workmate who had a severe heart attack about a week after his second Covid shot. He swears it was the vaccine. But he had an actual Covid infection previously and also random chest pain before getting the vaccine. So who really knows?
  16. Thanks for these amazing links! This one about the Norway study just goes to the main page though. I'm collecting these for a specific reason : )
  17. We had a local murder like that. A volunteer group came in and totally gutted the place and redid everything (it was the victim's home and her relatives couldn't sell it). I would have felt okay moving in after that.
  18. Sorry to hear you are going through this. My DD23 was just referred to a cardiologist for probable POTS. She was fortunate enough that she actually had an episode while at her general doctor visit. They thought their pulse ox/heart rate meter was defective at first. She went from 140 bpm to 60 bpm in less that a minute. They have her on high salt diet and hydration in the mean time. She had a few suspicious episodes over the last few years, but had an appendectomy in March with severe blood loss. It went crazy after that.
  19. I so wish someone had told me this before my DD had hers. She had a tilted uterus that caused additional problems placing the IUD. IT WAS HORRIBLE. Then they sent her home with "take some Advil". She literally could not move from the couch for close to 24 hours. She had it placed because of PCOS and cysts. She had been in the ER twice with large cysts bursting. She said the IUD placement was more painful than the cysts that put her in the ER. Honestly I felt SO ANGRY. They put people in twilight sleep for colonoscopies, but do this to women on the regular with NOTHING?
  20. Murphy did you see my post above, about what's happened in my state, which is fairly purple? My county was up in arms over a SAFE STORAGE LAW. How can you even have a conversation like that? Adding, anyone who supports the NRA, which lots of gun owners do, is okay with NRA campaigning against "responsible gun laws". NRA opposes any gun regulation on principle.
  21. God I feel that on a deep level My daughter is a teacher though so I can't get away from it
  22. Colorado passed Red Flag laws and every single gun support group was against them. They tried to pass safe storage laws, where people could be held accountable if they did not store their guns safely and something happened. My County Sheriff was vehemently against it and everyone was so happy to that OUR SHERIFF was standing up for guns! I asked about why on a public forum (big mistake). Of course, dear God, seconds could make a difference, and the difference seconds COULD make was clearly MORE IMPORTANT than what IS HAPPENING when guns get into kids or others hands.
  23. And all the people that say it's not the guns but we need to catch these crazies before they kill, then are the SAME ONES who won't let red flag laws get passed, or safe storage laws get passed ... I just have no words I can say on a public forum. Keep your freakin guns since you will never give them up, but at least let some sane laws be passed to help stop this madness
