  1. Unwrapping a Christmas book each day and reading it together is one of our favorite traditions! I wrap all the books in holiday fabric and use tape to secure--it works just fine! I use books from our own collection as well as library books. Sometimes I include favorite books that have a Christmas chapter and we simply read that one chapter. (Several of the Little House books include Christmas chapters. Little Women begins with a Christmas chapter.) Another favorite tradition we all enjoy is having a picnic next to the Christmas tree. We spread out the big red tablecloth on the floor and enjoy a simple dinner (usually pizza) while we admire our tree and listen to Christmas music.
  2. I just checked this out--it's great! Thanks for the link. Diana
  3. I'm looking for a student planner for my daughter who will be in 9th grade this fall and wondered if any of you had ever used the Well Guided Highschooler? I'd like to hear any input about it or any other planner you'd recommend. Thanks! Diana
  4. I keep a couple of poetry books, including Harp and the Laurel Wreath, in a basket near the kitchen table and often read a poem or two during lunch. It's a great resource for copywork/dictation and also includes questions about each poem in the section for older kids. Diana
  5. We're planning to read Julius Caesar next year as well. I have the Harbrace edition which includes study questions, journal prompts, and explanations of terms. Diana
  6. I'm new to these boards and am just amazed at the wealth of information available. I'm currently planning for my oldest daughter's 9th grade year and have learned so much from the archives. I look forward to being a part of this online community as we begin our high school journey. Diana
