  1. Thanks to everyone's response. I finally got answers. It's a shame that these people do not NO the policies for these types of situations. If Ididn't have to place my child back in, then I would NOT. However it's not an option right at this point. The counselor at the school did not know that ESP students or any child can come back in without the parents providing testing scores. So what I did was contact the ESP office and they emailed the policy on homeschoolers over to the school that my child will be attending. The school have to provide testing in order to see where he's at and then if I see need be to do an IEP then they will put one in place. Gosh!! What are they getting paid to do??? No wonder Georgia is in a mess now. Lord, I pray that I will be able to once again bring my child home. However, at this time finances are not flowing. Once again,((((((((( Thanks)))))))))))
  2. Do to life changes and other reasons beyond my control, I am currently trying to enroll my child back into public school. Ds is on an IEP while in the public school system. I am being told that i will need to show some type of test scores in order to place him back in or i would need to show something that shows mastery. If this is correct or someone could tell me what direction I need to be going please do so. The school counselor ask me "they didn't tell you this when you started to hs"? Lead me in the right direction.
  3. My child recently had testing done by a Psychologist (Marcus Autism Center) and I'm not sure what type of questions I should be asking. We received testing for 2 days, and on the next upcoming visit she stated that she would go over everything with us, questions etc. He was born premature 1 lb. and is now 12 years of age. Before being hs'ed he was on an IEP. He's reading on level, however he is struggling with math, spelling, language arts, sentence composing and some other things as well. I've notice that he ask tons of questions on one particular topic. Right now the topics are MLK, 911, and the Twin Towers. This usually changes after a couple of months, then it's something else that he focuses in on. It can be really annoying at times. Please assist me on questions that I need to be asking upon our return. i really need help with this one. Thanks.
  4. I came across this if anyone is interested. Link is located below. http://www.aepconnections.com/conferences.html
  5. Would a neurologist provide the same services as a neuropsychologist?
  6. This is what I was thinking also. It just didn't seem right without evaluations and questionnaires being done and I'm not sure if doctor was thinking since we came a long ways from out of town then she could do something different (I don't know).
  7. Today was our very first visit to a developmental pediatrician. After talking with my son and myself for a long time and she gave me a diagnosis of developmentally delayed and autistic traits and ocd. There were no paper test or anything. She gave a Rx called Lexapro. Is this normal? And what should I suspect with this drug and also with this autistic trait 'thing'? I really don't know much about it. Can any one tell me more? Will this make a difference in how he learns?

  9. What do you use for language art and writing with an ld child who knows how to read but no clue on how to spell 4 letter words and up? I am trying to focus on doing the 3 R's. I would like for him to be able to form sentences on paper or by typing. I would like for him to be able to learn the parts of speech...maybe one at a time. Would this be to much or should I stay with just learning to write and form sentences?
