  1. @Spy Car, thank you. Due to limited luggage space, I'll have to wait a few weeks for mine to arrive. I put that, along with most of our shopping, in a barrel to be shipped here. Until it arrives, I'll be sticking with my cold brew. Amazon didn't deliver it on time. I managed to find it at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Since I'm the only coffee drinker, one cup at a time is not a problem for me. If I end up not liking it, I'll be returning to everyone else's suggestions.
  2. @Indigo Blue, you have been nothing but kind. Thank you. I'm happy to hear that your son likes his! Thank you for all the loving wishes. Thank you everyone!
  3. Thank you for the link and for having been so generous with your time on this thread. It's been fun, and everyone here has been so helpful. We are leaving for the U.S. today. Very short trip, and the first time that we're leaving the Caribbean in three years. My goodness. A record for all of us. I'll be placing my order for everything in a few hours or so, or maybe even while we're in the U.S., since Prime is so quick anyway. Where we live, nothing much is available, and, if it is, it's extremely overpriced. It'll be nice to finally be in a developed country. Having talked with my dh, and gone down this fun and lengthy rabbit hole, I've decided on the following. For now, I'm going with the Aeropress. Maybe in a year or so, or whenever I choose, my second choice will be a Chemex. I've ranked them. I'm open and love this entire coffee journey. I hope that this is everything, and that I haven't forgotten anything. If I have, please let me know. I'll be checking this thread a few more times before we leave for the airport in about 11 hours. Canister to store my coffee beans KRUPS Precision Grinder Bonavita Gooseneck Kettle The Aeropress and paper filters - obviously Milk Frother - for fun, not sure about the color yet
  4. @Spy Car, both of those photos are just pure class. That's all I have to say. Beautiful. That's how life should be lived.
  5. I've watched a few videos on Amazon, and will head to YouTube also. Thanks for the reminder.
  6. @Spy Car, love that descriptive story. Reading it made me smile.
  7. I would never think that you're hijacking. Not at all. You have all been so helpful, and this is such a fun thread.

  9. @Spy Car, that's a beauty. By the way, I always remember and quote you on what you once said about Persian food - how it's fit for the kings and queens of the world. I love your wit, and really enjoy your posts.
  10. @Indigo Blue, thank you! It looks great. The only drawback - if cholesterol is to be my focus - are the lack of paper filters.
  11. Thank you! This is very helpful. Still feeling undecided, however. Oh, and I love those random Costco/any place shoppers' comments. Conversations like that always make me smile!
  12. @Indigo Blue, I adore Dr. Dray! That's how I heard about Four Sigmatic. I wish that I could go skin care shopping with Dr. Dray. "Sunscreen and subscribe!" Everything on Four Sigmatic looks so appealing - their protein powders, you name it, it all looks good.
  13. @Lori D., both of those links (the cholesterol/filter ones) are so helpful. Thank you.
  14. @Lori D., thank you so much for all that, and for your links. Everyone is so helpful. I really do appreciate it.
  15. The main drawback that I see with the Moka Pot, etc. - is the cholesterol problem. Sigh. I've never had a major cholesterol problem, but then again I don't want to start one. As @Indigo Bluementioned, and as most of us know, unbleached paper filters help to remove cholesterol.
  16. Wow! Thank you so much! Off to search and to do more research. I'm so impressed by both of those, although I'm also quite intimidated. With contraptions like that, you know it's going to taste amazing.
  17. Bill, this is my problem. I don't know, and I wish that I did. I love: a good, strong Arabic/Turkish coffee Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and all the high-caloric iced coffee drinks, which are more desserts than anything. Cold Brew I hate: the taste of instant or regular, black (boring, dull) coffee -- When I have coffee or tea, I must add milk to it. That's about all I know.
  18. You've just opened my eyes. All my life, I kept wondering, rolling my eyes, and laughing at the supposed silliness of my Persian family and relatives using glass when making tea. I've always mocked them, since as far as physics goes, the glass being a conductor, making it all hot, and hard to hold in one's hands, etc. Now I see why. It does taste better. Thank you for all your tips. I'm going to look into the Chemex, as well as all the other tips that you so kindly mentioned. Thank you to everyone! Feel free to continue posting and sharing your thoughts. I really do appreciate them all.
  19. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm still undecided. If I could, I would just stick with cold brew. I may do that. Not sure. If I do decide on a method, I'm leaning towards the Aeropress. For those who use that, do you use a Burr grinder? Also, do you feel the need for an electric kettle with temperature control? Sorry to sound so indecisive. I'm at this point in my life where I'm tired of making the wrong decisions when it comes to purchases. It's hard where we live. We can't return things easily at all.
  20. Thank you for all the tips. I had heard that about the cholesterol. Thanks for the reminder, all the other info, and for the link.
  21. My all-time favorite is anything made by Samsonite.
  22. Sharing some links that I’ve come across for anyone who may be interested. I have a tendency to go down rabbit holes and there’s often no stopping me once that happens. I wish that I didn’t need coffee, but these days, I do. I could probably get by with tea. I hate green tea, and wish that I didn’t, since I know that it’s beneficial. 24. You said it all so perfectly. Like you, I don't agree with everything, a rarity on the best of days anyway, but I really love your last sentence, the recent entry.
