  1. Mine was gallbladder...didnt show on anything but pipida scan as it is only inflammation no stones. I was so tired of tests as I did everything. My DD has pain central stomach just below rib cage also, but hers is an ulcer. Hers was diagnosed with a scope.
  2. All 5 of us got the shot...and no hives. :001_smile:
  3. Florida isnt the best! They told me they couldnt teach my son to read in 3rd grade! He ended up going to a private school and was reading on a 5th grade level in 4 months!
  4. my school wont use Dysgraphia on the IEP. They state they do not use that term for accommodations. The OT told me they can understand his writing even though it hasnt changed much since K and he is 17! They only care that he can write. It is frustrating. They do allow him to have organizers to write on and a laptop for typing...Im not sure what else you will be able to accomplish...but I hope your state is better then Florida!! I would bring writing samples, any tests you have, and maybe specific papers with the writing issue or punctuation. I would try and explain how long he takes to work, that he needs to be in small groups for testing.. I do hope you can make some progress!
  5. I cant believe how many things still baffle doctors even in this day and age! It is crazy to imagine with all the tests and procedures that dr.s cant solve some problems. I guess it really hasnt been that long that we have been so advanced...it just seems that way!
  6. LOL....Im sorry...I understand....BELIEVE ME!!! I DO!! :grouphug:
  7. lol...OMGoodness...I would loose my mind if my kids let the house get to that point!! I would be trashing every electronic device in the house and removing everything except beds from rooms...LOL.
  8. So this morning I saw this on a page today..it is a lady who is posting for help to help diagnose her childs symptoms (not looking for any donations and such)! I figured I would share it because I seem to remember someone here on the boards posting about something similar? She had a page that had photos and questions...and contact info... facebook.com/answersforaustin this is what she had posted... I was wondering if you could do me a favor. my husband is a police officer in texas. we have a 5 month old son who has been very sick since birth. we have seen over 20 doctors and had 100's of tests run, and no one can tell us whats wrong with him. we were hoping you would share our sons page, in hopes that someone out there who reads his story can help us figure out what wrong with him. we are asking for prayers, not handouts. so please, for another brother in blue, share his page for us. " updated... I went on her site and she has so much info about him...sounds so desperate! If you read on some of the links she has details of his symptoms. I cant imagine going to a 20 Dr.s and still not finding an answer. wow.
  9. I was told my dd had an option when she had a cast. The lady talked me out of it and said the regular cast would be enoug. She only had a cast 3 weeks...but it was the longest 3 weeks of our lives! I have heard certain breaks cannot have the water proof cast...but if they offer it to you (or ask)...you usually have to dish out an extra $25-50 each. It is COMPLETELY worth every penny! ;)
  10. My sisters school district in ohio is elementary k-6 high school 7-12
  11. I wont allow my child to a dentist that does not permit parents in the back.I had a terrible experience as a child and the dentist was actually charged later and I will never put my kids in that situation to be alone with no idea what is happening.
  12. make sure you pay the extra money for the water proof casts!! That will allow him to be alone in the shower!! I cant imagine being in that position with my son. He would die! Im sorry!! Will he be able to bend his arms? Maybe you can buy one of those attachment hoses for the toilet for him to spray clean.
  13. my daughter had to go to the ER almost each time she had croup. It was so bad and came on so quickly. We always had our breathing machine ready with Xopernex and Pulmecourt...Cant spell either.....or distilled water in the nebulizer also worked wonders. They hospital always told me...go sit in the car with the AC or outside if it is cold (never here in S. Florida) I have to keep a humidifier in my daughters room. This is the second year without croup...and she is almost 10! Mine had it SO long! It sounds like you made wise choices last night!! Good luck. I would go to Dr. and get a nebulizer if you do not have one...but I cant remember any other meds besides those that ever had been prescribed. It was all in the breathing machine. Or maybe the nebulizer with plain water not meds?? Im not sure how it works for a little baby?
  14. This is not only to mix it up for "gay" students...this is against bigotry, social injustice and learning tolerance. It includes accepting people from other religions like Islamic faiths, different colors and races as well as LG kids. They are not pushing these kids to become gay. Down here we have lots of schools included in the day including several Catholic schools. I am in NO Way upset...I am PROUD that my son participates in groups to prevent bullying and harassment in his high school! Ive seen too many stories of kids committing suicide because others cannot just accept that their choices have nothing to do with the other kids. There is nothing wrong with my child welcoming an islamic, jewish, wiccan, black, asian, gay, or straight kid...etc. to come and sit with them. Im sure if these kids really cant mix with other kids they wont change their seats. I cant imagine a teacher is standing over them forcing them to sit next to someone else. I know my Aspie wouldnt switch her seat...but Im sure they are asking not demanding!
  15. The program works with whatever you use...I use a c25k program and I Listen to Pandora. then the program just runs in the background but you never hear it...It only comes on when you need to stop running or start running again! It is awesome. You never just listen to beeps or anything like that! :001_smile:
  16. My husband went on a friday and had the procedure with no pain and was up by monday with no issues. He used a jock strap which eased all pain. Not sure if that helps...but if it is an issue of religion...that would be different. None are acceptable in the Catholic church...only abstinence, timing out the days and rhythm method. Im not willing to accept either. Im not against other medical procedures so I cant imagine not allowing this one...(just my view) I have no desire to start a new hormone after struggling so long with my thyroid. Neither one of us wants to risk having more children. Im just waiting for Grandchildren! It is wonderful not having to think about it EVER! I imagine condoms are the easiest to use but you have to be consistent along with figuring out which days to avoid. I have never tried any of those rings...but I see many have hormones as well. I would be too scared to try spermicide alone for fear it would fail. And birth control pills are not an option. Either way...It is all private and no one needs to know what you decide on. So...maybe that will help with a choice.
  17. lol...I agree...dont run with the iPad...LOL I would imagine you could just buy one of those cheaper watches like target has with a seconds timer...and just kind of keep track while you are running. It wouldnt be too difficult to hit reset each section since you would be walking between sets.
  18. I just wanted to add...there is no "simple" list...BUT you should learn all the ingredients listed for gluten. There are a LOT that you would never imagine had gluten. Here is one list I found... http://www.celiac.com/articles/182/1/Unsafe-Gluten-Free-Food-List-Unsafe-Ingredients/Page1.html It is TOO long to post here! I would keep a little list on your phone or a cheat sheet in your purse while shopping.
  19. Our Catholic School had Saints Day Parade with Fall Festival. The allowed the first graders to dress as a saint and the school all came to watch...but no other costume parties. All grades had Fall Festival Parties.
  20. lol...I saw this site... http://www.jamieoliver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=204119 They make Deviled Eggs...YUM!!!! Pickled eggs..never tried that...Bake some pies for your neighbors. This is one of my favorites... http://www.ourbestbites.com/2009/03/key-lime-tarts/ Or offer them up to neighbors.
  21. I pulled my 2 out of private school this year and I will never look back. I did place one into a public school that I had a terrible experience with when my son was there...but my daughter is loving it and her education is amazing. She is not getting killed with homework and she is learning far beyond what she learned in private school. They offer a higher level of classes as well. My son had a terrible experience with the same school and was homeschooled all of middle school. My DD on the other hand is doing amazing. I guess it all has to do with your specific child. I feel "I" made the right decision for my kids and I personally didnt like paying for an education that I didnt feel was superior. That was a huge problem for us. I am much happier this year and we have accountability again with the school.
  22. The highest math here in PS 6th grade is PreAlg. 7th grade is Alg. 1 Honors. The requirements for these classes is based on test scores above like 98.9% or something like that. Advanced math in our school 6th grade is a 6/7/8 grade math class...then advanced 7th is pre-alg. (the advanced is the middle level math) Then the regular math is much slower offering pre-alg. in 8th grade. The private school we had been in only offered the highest which is called fundamentals which is a Pre-Prealgebra in 6th grade. I believe we have more options in Public school for advancement. They may work with you on math...but I would imagine they would want him in grade by age. Most districts wont budge on that...but that is my experience here in S. Florida. I put my DD in her grade by age and now she ranks one of the highest in her grade. The classes dont change much between 6-8 I think they still expect the same level of work from the child...it is just the topics that change. Like history might be world history, US history or civics by grade rather then 6grade level, 7th grade level etc....so I think your issue would mainly be in math.
  23. I use something like this... 1 cup sorghum flour (or brown rice flour, if avoiding sorghum) 1 cup tapioca starch, corn starch or potato starch (not potato flour!) 1/2 cup almond flour, GF millet, or GF buckwheat flour 1 teaspoon xanthan gum or without the xanthan gum...you add that as you need it...I tend to have this mix in my fridge ready to go and I add the Xanthan gum in each recipe. Brown rice flour (extra finely ground) – 2 cups Potato starch (not potato flour) – 2/3 cup Tapioca starch (also called tapioca flour) – 1/3 cup Total = 3 cups
  24. personally, I think one parent is enough. The teachers just tough on strong and weak areas...and maybe show you an example. But not much more then that.
  25. I had this entire argument with my DD in PS teacher yesterday...I told them I am not teaching my kid the way the book is. Im having tons of problems with the way the 4th grade math book makes you go back and break down simple multiplication to some crazy steps...They pretty much told me anything I dont want to teach just circle and send it back in and they will work on it in school so she doesnt have to learn at home. **They are testing on middle steps in the school system here instead of the final answer...so the question may state... 1. what is one possible step in solving this equation. So the student will need to know... 45/12 where my child would cross reduce and skip that step...and write 15/4 So....the answer would be 45/12 not the final answer. That could be one reason they are stressing that full multiplication across without reducing first. Takes so long. This is just one reason they may be writing it like that in the book...I could be wrong in this situation...All those = signs are confusing.
