  1. I HATE surprises. Ick. I just hate them. My DD is the same way. I like to know what is going on, where we are going, and what we are going to do. My husband LOOOOOOOOOOVES surprises. Which is why we've never found out the gender of our babies. It drove me nuts.
  2. I am so glad this thread is started!! I was going to ask a similar question. :lurk5:
  3. There are several articles (I've searched on this in the past) about how there were some traditional cultures that preferred organ meats and fed muscle to their dogs. YIKES! :D Most other traditional diets would in fact consume the whole animal, but organ meats were highly prized, some even considered them sacred.
  4. We ordered 1/4 grass-fed cow meat and I requested that the liver be ground up. The butcher was kind enough to do that and put it in 1/2lb pkgs. When I cook 3lbs of ground beef, I mix in 1/2lb of ground liver. I just hide it. :D Grass-fed beef liver is so mild. There is strong smell or taste!
  5. What great news. I'll be praying for safe travels during this trip. :grouphug:
  6. Contrary to popular belief, liver does not store toxins and impurities. It neutralizes toxins, but doesn't STORE them. Most traditional cultures eat only organ meats, and no muscle meats of the animal. It DOES store very important nutrients such as vitamins A, D, E, K, B12 and folic acid, and minerals such as copper and iron. :) So... eat your organ meats!
  7. With our recent purchase of 1/4 of cow, grass-fed, I requested the liver. The butcher was able to grind it up and pack it in 1/2 lb. pkgs for me. I cook 1/2lb with 3 lbs of ground beef. There is NO liver smell at all when I cooked it for the first time, which surprised me. Grass-fed beef liver doesn't have a strong smell or taste. If you prefer not to eat liver, you can always take desiccated liver supplements. :001_smile:
  8. DD turned 7 on the 4th and we took the day off! :D
  9. I had to give up on the PLing with our boy. It was SO MUCH work for me and it was just a battle every time. So, I said, "Okay. You're in diapers." (we do cloth diapers here) About a month after I gave up, he said one morning, "mom. I'm gonna wear underpants." He never had an accident since then. Never turned back. He was done. He was also over 3.5 yrs old.
  10. Perhaps the grains aren't properly prepared and your stomach is having a difficult time digesting? Traditionally, grains were soaked/fermented before cooking and consuming. http://www.thenourishinggourmet.com/2008/03/nourishing-practices-soaking-grains-2.html
  11. Okay... so... Do you think it would be too much to do this book and Apologia's Astronomy??

  13. It sounds like your gut needs healing. :grouphug: Get your hands on a VERY GOOD probiotic. That is good to take on a daily basis. Try to stay away from refined carbs. That will help tremendously. Also, make sure the yogurt is PLAIN and unsweetened. You can always mix in unsweetened fruit sauce (apple, pear, plum, etc.). When you are stressed, do you tend to eat sweets or refined carbs? i know I do... and then my gut pays for it... along with my skin.
  14. I don't see anything wrong with that at all. If you don't think you'll need the books for anything else, then, by all means, cut them up!
  15. awesome post. Thanks for sharing this info. We stopped buying organic pasteurized milk and switched to raw milk. Much better tasting, we know the farmer, and better for us.
  16. I have GREAT NEWS! because of my recovery from an appendectomy last week, my 2 year old has night-weaned as is for the FIRST TIME EVER... SLEEPING FOR 11 HR STRETCHES AT NIGHT! FIRST. TIME. EVERRRRRRR!!!
  17. You can also use water in a spray bottle with a drop or 2 of peppermint oil. That is supposed to help cool the body. I might just leave the fever alone... the little one's body is trying to work something out. Keep him hydrated. :001_smile:
  18. I don't know what is this all about, must've missed previous posts. But, I will pray for good outcome.:grouphug:
  19. TJs is better than WF in the sense that it is cheaper. However, it is MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller and doesn't carry as much local produce as WF would. They do carry a lot of nice products though! Great selection of cheeses, meats, eggs, and some good dairy options. Prices on Organic items are VERY affordable. Coffee, Kerrygold butter, and uncured bacon are priced quite well also! I love TJs!!
  20. We had a special dinner cooked here at home for our K'er last year. She I baked a special cake. My parents and sister came over. She recited a poem and my DH presented her with a certificate of completion. (I downloaded that from a website) It was pretty special.
  21. Love it! I only shop at TJs and the farmers market (with the occasional Whole Foods or Costco run).:D
  22. We buy raw milk once a week from the farmers market. All the kids love to drink it, so I just give it to them when they ask. Usually, they ask for milk at breakfast, in the afternoon, and before bedtime.
