  1. I ordered a few used books from a private individual. They were shipped media mail ( I guess), with a tracking number. I live in South Georgia. They made it to Atlanta a d then we're sent north to Memphis. They have been there since August 2. I tried today to talk with someone and all I could get was the robot. She said customer service was unavailable. The email categories are so specfic, I could not find anything close to my problem. Does anyone know a number I can call an speak to an actual human? 2. I always liked to do World History in either 9th or 10th, followed by American History and then Government and Economics in order to give them a firm history foundation to better understand the whys and hows of government.
  3. We are going to be doing short stories for the first 9 weeks. We wil also read A Seperate Peace, To Kill A Mockingbird, A Red Pony, Oliver Twist, and some more novels I haven't quite decided on. Plus a unit of poetry.
  4. We adopted 3 of our grandkids. I homeschooled them. I am still homeschooling the oldest. He is in 12th grade. This concerns their younger brother who my daughter had after she couldn't take care of these three. He is 9 years old and has never been to school. She says she has "homeschooled him", but he is very behind. He does not know the days of the week. months of the year, etc, concepts which should have been taught at kindergarten level. He cannot read. He does manage to sound out some words. It is not his fault. My daughter is to blame. She has been reported to family services on several occasions. They actually came out to her house one time. She got a Dr. Seuss which he had memorized for him to "read" to the social worker. She has not kept or sent in any of the required forms. She says she is putting him in public school in the fall.I have no idea which grade he will be placed in. I want to convince her to let me homeschool him, starting now and continuing through the next school year. I think I could get him close to grade level, which at that time would be 4th grade. My problem is that I live 10 miles from her and I don't know if she will bring him every day. Does anyone have any suggestions or other ideas? Thanks.
  5. There are several good ones for free online. Here are a few. http://www.tnellen.com/cybereng/lit_terms/ http://web.cn.edu/kwheeler/lit_terms.html http://www.uncp.edu/home/canada/work/allam/general/glossary.htm There are whole lot more out there too. This was just a sample.
  6. My son is also musical. He leanred to play the guitar by himself. he is also very creative. He has made A's on every test in Jacobs so far. He also made A's on every logic test. He likewise, does well in languages. He is not so great at Algebra or sciences.
  7. I know ithis was his first "love", but he has only known her for about 3 weeks. So maybe the hurt won't last long.
  8. Cory actually turns 16 on Dec 2, but that is close enough for me. I warned him of the legal consequences and also told him how he should treat any girl he is around. My wife and I went with each other for 4 years before we were married, After dating for more than 2 years we finally held hands. I told him that movies, tv and music completely distort how a guy is to treat a yound lady. As far as her parents, her mother dropped her off here and her father picked her up. I understand her father was thrilled with Cory because of his lack of tattos and his not having a gothic look. He is mad, but so what. I told him I am trying to protect him and his future.
  9. We have adopted 3 of our grandchildren. In fact, we have, in one way or another, had them living with us for their entire lives. We are all Christians. My oldest son (grandson) is 16 and he started liking a girl who is only 13. He had her come over to our house last Saturday and several times they were kissing. He has only been around her in different settings 2 or 3 times. I told him she was too young for her. His sister is 13 too. I told him he had to find an older girlfriend; She was his first girlfriend and crush. I am 59 and maybe I see things the old fashion way. Did I make the right decision?
  10. Can anybody compare these 2 for me? Has anyone used either one? How many labs are usually done with high school chemistry? I will be using Chemistry: Matter and its changes as a textbook.
  11. has a test book and a workbook available. I have both. I found them either on here or Amazon.
  12. I have never seen the instructor's guide, but I think the links I posted above were taken from it.

  14. We are using CLE reading 3, Spelling Workout 3, Rod and Staff 3 and Write with the Best. I know to do reading everyday, but do you need to do writing and grammar each day?
