  1. Will do, if. it. ever. comes. The book I ordered with it has come, but not that one. Getting impatient.
  2. I had a Billy. It was a workhorse of a bookcase. I still regret getting rid of it. That said, I'd wait.
  3. Measuring cups and spoons were infinitely more useful to me when I first moved overseas than a cookbook. And the Internet to figure ingredient, volume, and temperature conversions.
  4. Waiting on: Smithsonian Natural History CELTA course books (and the course starts Monday so I'm getting antsy) Two shipments from Amazon that are being delivered to the US and I'll have to wait until at least the end of June for them to arrive. :toetap05: The rest was online or has been delivered. Now I have to read it all and get organized.....
  5. And DD has NEVER been subjected to any kind of pat down in all our travels within the US and abroad. Neither have I, FWIW, as her sole companion. We are sent through the "normal" xray machine (not the backscatter whozit) and that's that.
  6. Wondering and praying here too. FWIW, I had friends lose a cat and find it again over one year later. Just showed back up, a little worse for wear, but ok.
  7. Praying for Stripes to find his way home.
  8. :svengo: You have GOT to be kidding me. 19?!
  9. Me too! As a kid I was absolutely convinced cats and dogs were the same species, just different genders. You could not convince me otherwise for years.
  10. Try it! It sounds wonderful as a summer program, and you could tweak it for next year if it works for y'all.
  11. DD would say that he has his summer furstyle now! RAWR is right!
  12. Hopefully! Poor thing just doesn't get counting, but can move nine spaces on a Monopoly board in one fell swoop.
  13. Well, my long awaited and much worried over Cuisenaire rods arrived today in all their wooden glory!! Given that there is a postal workers strike going on here this was huge, and tells me that I CAN order some things for delivery. I presented them to DD, showing her that they were a math tool and ecstatic to have her take them, manipulate them, and be solving Calculus problems by dinner. I came back in from the kitchen to find the ones were children, the twos, threes and fours were mommies, and the eights and nines were teachers. Everyone was positioned just as we were for a school assembly/show last week. DD was directing everyone and singing. Yeah, she's a Dreamer. I think calculus is going to have to wait.
  14. Thank you! (Now to find a way for someone other than her squeamish and now queasy mother to do this with her....)
  15. I greatly prefer printed books, especially reference books, but being overseas I have fallen in love/made peace with my Kindle and iPad as readers. The Kindle is my usual device, but I use the iPad for regency material. The larger screen seems easier for me, and the formatting is often better if there are text boxes, illustrations, and other call-outs from the regular flow of text. For children's books I still get paper when I can. I have a lot of Kindle books purchased cheaply or free at the ready, but for now we are still trying to use paper with DD.
  16. I don't have issues with Teaching Company or Audible, but I do have issues with Amazon US. I run a VPN to get around it, maybe you can find one for your target country/region?
  17. We do talking, snuggling in bed, something to drink (we can't eat first thing either). A little playing with stuffed animals at times, but mostly quiet talking while I nurse my morning tea and DD her morning juice.
  18. All I have to say is thank goodness we're not alone! DD drives me NUTS doing this, and does it so much in her B&M school they are starting to wonder if she's not getting the material, but if you catch her off guard, she will answer flawlessly. **insert head bashing smiley here**
  19. My daughter said the exact same thing when she asked for an animal study. I'll be listening intently. Only problem is DD is 5. How on earth do I do this for a five year old?! She truly wants the details.
  20. My DD is having the same issues with math - not "getting" numbers or counting in K. I'm impatiently awaiting my delivery of C-rods so that we can start Miquon. I'm also looking at using MEP Reception this summer as an even more gentle precursor to Miquon. She has the same reactions as your DD - she stresses when things are repeated over and over so I'm hoping a gentle approach will work better.
  21. DropBox, GoogleDrive, and Gmail are saving me. The fact that I hadn't exceeded my download quotas for my curricula also has saved me. I also had a backup on an external hard drive which saved my older files. I am running Norton Internet Security. I thought this had anti-virus, but maybe it didn't work on the flash drive - only on the internet? Yes, I am going to look at a different program. Something didn't work.
  22. Especially those of you who rely on PDFs and downloaded/electronic curricula, etc. I just recovered from a very nasty virus that came from a brand new flash drive, in its original packaging, that I inserted into my computer. Within minutes I knew something was wrong, within hours I knew it was bad. It took three days to recover - even with a backup. If I hadn't had the backup I would be buying a new computer, new software, new everything. I lost everything from the last five weeks, but I can at least recover those files as most was already in the cloud and I could re-download all the curricula I purchased in the past few weeks. I will be doing much more regular backups in the future!.
