  1. Thanks! We have several Henty books on our reading list for next year. This will be terrific since our library has very few of his titles.
  2. These are not fantasy, but my son loved the Hank Zipzer books at that age. They are written by Henry Winkler. There are nearly 20 of them, so they kept him busy for a while! Eva Ibbotson also has some fantasy books that are very well-written. Some are written for an older audience, so be careful. A few of our favorites are Journey to the River Sea, Island of Aunts, and the Dragonfly Pool.
  3. We tried to use BJU Life Science this year. It is a good program, but very wordy and workbookish in my opinion. I think it would be a good fit for some kids, but my guy was bored to death. We started using some video curriculum from curr-click to finish up the year. Next fall, we'll use Rainbow Science.
  4. Same experience here! My kids had always hated math and were behind. I kept holding them back thinking they weren't ready for anything beyond 4th grade level. We stalled for 2 years before I had someone convince me to try TT. We started at 7th grade. They now love math, beg to do extra, and are skipping pre-algebra next year. They took the placement test and are well-prepared for Algebra 1! I couldn't be more pleased. . .
  5. My daughter loved lapbooks at that age! Ds hated anything to do pencils, scissors, or glue! They always enjoyed making food to go with the time period we were studying. That was something that seemed to go over well with both the crafter and the complainer!
  6. I made the same mistake when I bought/sold Level 1. I didn't know I was supposed to keep the tiles. I called the company, and they graciously sold me an extra set. Since then, I always buy from the company and purchase an extra set so when I sell mine, I'll have one to keep. Seems to work well. And Barton has an excellent resell value. I usually post mine about 2 weeks before we finish up. They've always sold before I was ready to order the next level. Best wishes!
