  1. I'm sorry this has been such an emotional roller coaster for you! I'm glad about the bit of good news today and praying for more and more good news!
  2. Me too! My oldest is into horses and has several toy ones. I was thinking some kind of stable? My youngest is into her dolls and I was thinking a bed or quilt?
  3. They work great for me! It helps open the airways so I can breathe better at night! I have found that the generic does not stick as well as the name brand- one of those things that it is worth paying the extra for!
  4. I don't know if this would work for the scale you are thinking of but we did this to help raise money for our mission trip and it was a huge success! We had a parents night out and watched children. We got volunteers to help with the childcare (local teens and others going on the trip). We planned simple activities for a Saturday night including a movie/snack. We asked for donations only but you could put a price on it. We did have people reserve spots ahead of time so that we knew we had enough hands to watch the number of kids we would get. We also timed it for right after dinner and had pick up around 9 so that kids wouldn't get to tired and cranky!
  5. Depends on the friends! Over all, we don't have much of a problem but most of the friends they play are extremely well behaved! There are a few friends that I do notice it more with. I limit time with those friends and talk to the girls about why. That seems to help some!
  6. Thank you for the words of encouragement! I know this one is a blessing and I'm going to be so glad that he is a part of our life- at least I know all of this logically. My emotions are still all over the place about it though!
  7. jpope- I'm kind of nervous of going back to the baby stage! I've always preferred older kids and have really enjoyed the freedom of the last several years- no diapers, naps, super strict routines, etc.! Good luck with your #3!!!!
  8. The day before hubby goes to the Dr. to discuss permanent birth control options, we find out we're pregnant with number 3! What a shock as we both thought we were done with the baby stage! We had an ultrasound today and saw our little bean and a heart beat- due date is end of March! Now that the shock is wearing off, we are excited! edited to correct spelling errors!
  9. I have the full set that I no longer need. Some have some holes punched in the top and some have some dates written on them. They are in a three ring binder in sheet protectors. If you are interested, PM a price!
  10. Why not gum? My eldest is a chewer and we give her gum. The rule is I'm not allowed to see/hear it and it must go in the trash when she is done.
  11. I'm going to the homeschool convention next week. I thought I have heard others who use the sessions as credit to keep their teacher's license up to date. Does anyone have any information on doing that?
  12. I'm looking for a spelling program for my first grader. I'm wanting something that focuses on the important spelling rules- not just a list of words. What would you recommend?
  13. Celticmom, I'm sorry for the delayed response! I never got an email saying someone replied to my thread. I'm selling the used Veritas timeline cards for $50+ shipping. Please PM me if you are still interested! My email is chrangharris@gmail.com if you would rather contact me that way! Thanks, Christine

  14. How do you teach your children to study the Bible? I'm wanting to start to teach my girls how to do their own personal Bible time but not sure how to go about it. Ideas?
  15. Do the best you can- take smaller portions and enjoy what you eat! If you can, try to take a walk every day! It might not off set all of the calories but it will help! I also find when I exercise, I do better with not eating so much!
  16. It's possible----for her! Keep in mind she lives on a ranch- I doubt she sits around much!
  17. We were a military family growing up. Our tradition was that it was different every year! I still look back fondly on that and never knowing what to expect! ;)
  18. Board games! We love Blokus here! A ticket to ride is another good one!
  19. My eldest is awful about putting thins away correctly. She will get is somewhat close but not finish the job! I've started having her go back and put whatever it is away correctly 10 times. That has helped with getting her to put things where they belong the first time and without me constantly reminding her.
  20. We have been for several years and I try to co-ordinate the science with what we are learning. We are almost done with the body. Next semester is some very basic chemistry and some scientific theories. I'm a bit at a loss on where to go with that. My kids are kindergarten and 2nd grade. Any ideas or curriculum to go with that?
  21. I believe that the realtor of the sellers has the earnest money. They sellers are not signing the form to release us from the contract and to get our earnest money back. They want us to write the document so that they get the earnest money and we won't.
  22. We are working with a realtor but we have serious doubts as to her knowledge and capabilities. At the end of this deal, we will be looking for a new one.
  23. We put a contract on a house. During the inspection, several major issues were discovered that includes termites, a gas leak, mold, water infiltrating into the house in at least 3 hours, urine soaked carpet, a deck that is not built to code and siding that has been part of a class action law suit and is deteriorating. The siding is not covered under its warranty because it has been improperly installed. We spoke to our insurance company about this particular siding to see if it would be covered at all- it would not. We asked the buyers to fix all of these serious issues. They are only willing to fix the termites. We cancelled the contract and asked for our earnest money back since we do not agree to what they are willing to repair. They are refusing us our earnest money. We really don't want to go to abbartation or court if we don't have to. Any advice?
  24. I'm on the opposite side- kind of! I have a younger half-sister- she is actually 6 months older then my oldest child- it's a bit creepy to me. I've met her twice and could care less about having a relationship with her. Our father has custody of her and he wants nothing to do with me. I won't let him control my life any more and he is mad about it thus ignores me or sends me hate email/calls. Getting to know my half-sister means dealing with my father and it's not worth it. Will I feel differently when she is an adult? I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see. It will open up all of the hurt from my father though and I'm not sure I would want to do that again.
