  1. FYI-Christianbook.com ALWAYS has Apologia for 30% off. That is my go to place when ordering our Apologia stuff. When I first read that, I RUSHED to Christianbook.com-LOL! Then I realized that's the regular price ;) Now, the free shipping IS a deal!
  2. We just switched from Horizons to TT and I totally sympathize with your kids, LOL. It was torture for them AND for me. While Horizons is a great curriculum, it just no longer fit our needs. Somtimes, just a change is all it takes to get our kids excited about a subject again.
  3. We're keeping it! We especially liked the gentle approach to writing, along with the short clear lessons. We set aside WWE for a while and have just recently picked it back up, so we're doing both. If I were to stick with one, WWW is the one for us!
  4. :iagree: After 14 years of marriage, we've had a few. The first 2 years were rough, followed by year 5, then we had another rough year around year 12. I like to call them growing pains. Each time, we came through it stronger than ever.
  5. That is great news! Thanks for sharing. I was a bit hesitant at first, but just recently decided to take the plunge. I'm so glad we did! Both my boys are doing quite well and math is no longer a hassle in our home.
  6. So glad you guys are ok and sorry that this happened. Praying for you and your family.
  7. I have twins that were diagnosed with epilepsy at 2 years old, after both started having seizures at 10 months old. They were on lamictal from ages 3-9 1/2 years old. Their seizures were never controlled by the lamictal and one of my twins suddenly developed a tics that seemed to get worse. The tics eventually caused him to develop rhabdomyolysis (sp?) and it was later suggested that it was possible it was a side effect of the lamictal. We decided to wean them both off the meds. One of the twins has been seizure free since, the other has only had 2 seizures since and this is over a year 14 month time frame. I do understand that there are side effects with all meds and you have to determine if the good outweighs the bad. In our case, we were all out of options and felt like we had no other choice but to wean them off to rule it out. In our case, it worked to our advantage. I would recommend googling lamictal and tics, as well as lamictal and its connection to meningitis. http://www.webmd.com/bipolar-disorder/news/20100812/fda-warns-lamictal-can-cause-aseptic-meningitis I just googled and came across this article. Intrestingly enough, both my boys have severe speech apraxia, which only increases their chances of developing the side effects: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10897158
  8. Same here. I wanted to know what all the fuss is about and I don't get it either.
  9. We just started using the Sequential Spelling DVD. We just started this week and so far my boys enjoy it.
  10. :iagree: I started to read the comments and found myself just getting angry. So not worth it you know?
  11. We just received the dvd and I'm wondering if I should have ordered the teachers guide?
  12. Twin Miami: That homeschool curriculum looks interesting! I wish you could look inside it and see what it is like! Know anyone who has used it? No, I don't know anyone who has used it. I can't even remember how I came across that link, but I saved it, hoping that one day I would order it.
  13. What a great reminder. DS hasn't been feeling well and our schedule is off. I'm exhausted from lack of sleep and not getting much done and still keeping a work from home job. I think I am taking that nap...right now.
  14. I have heard this too. I have really dark circles under my eyes as well. I've never bothered to get it checked out, but I keep hearing its a clear sign of allergies.
  15. I have my eyes on this: http://robomatter.com/Shop-By-Product-Type/Curriculum/Middle-School/NXT/Robotics-Engineering-Vol.-1-Introduction-To-Mobile-Robotics-Home-School-Edition
  16. :grouphug: I know how you feel. My boys were enrolled with Connections Academy BRIEFLY when they were in kindergarten here in Florida. Their "teacher" kept kicking back drawings because they were drawing stick figures and they weren't "grounded" as she called it. REALLY? The final straw for me is when they were trying to assess the DIBELS assessment over the PHONE with two special needs children with severe speech apraxia. I was trying to reword the question to my boys (had they been in the classroom they would have been able to get special accomodations) and she YELLED at me. I had had enough of the unnecessary stress and immediately pulled them out of the program.
  17. I prefer having the keyboard. The touch screen on the phone that I got for Christmas really slows me down and I find that I don't text as much as I did before. That may not be a bad thing...lol. I do have to share this though...I ended up turning off the auto correct feature. Occasionally I sub at the public schools, and I had texted a fellow homeschool mom to tell her we wouldn't be able to meet up because I planned on subbing. The auto correct feature changed it to sinning. So, I couldn't meet with her because I planned on sinning! We got a good laugh out of that one, but yes, I so prefer the keyboard.
  18. Oh how I miss those preschool years! My boys will be 11 in two weeks, but if they were younger, they would absolutely love those activities!
  19. We have been using SOTW for History, Apologia Science, Teaching Textbooks, and just started using Sequential Spelling yesterday. Through trial and error, I have found these resources to be a good match for my boys. I think we'll continue to use GWG and WWW for grammar and writing since it is working well for the moment.
  20. :bigear: I've found that we have slowly shifted to using alot of the resources they include in their all-in-one curriculum kits. I have special needs kids so it turns out that we just ended up using some of those resources anyway.
