  1. Mistakes do happen, I do understand that. I'm sorry you had a negative experience. My experience has been awesome so far and hopefully you won't have any further issues.
  2. They are 12-they will be 13 in two weeks. I get up anywhere between 6am-7am. They get up anytime between 7am-7:30 School starts at 8am. I will add that doesn't mean we are dressed and fed. It just means I start read-alouds then while they eat breakfast and wake up from their zombie state. They start their individual work about 9am. That's when I get dressed and eat my breakfast. We aim to start school on time because I work in the afternoons and would like the bulk of their work done by then. Especially the teacher intensive subjects like writing and math.
  3. I am looking ahead for the upcoming school year-7th grade. They will be 13 this March and we have been dealing with some learning challenges. I had originally planned on Apologia's General Science for 8th, but then was wondering if we should start in 7th and spread it over 2 years. We have done 3 of the apologia elementary books and 2 years of Sonlight's science. My goal is for them to work independently and feel confident of their ability to learn. I would really like to spend the next two years building a strong foundation for their writing skills (we are using IEW) and focusing on some problem areas in math before they start on high school. Opinions? Advice? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. 😄
  4. I find it to be irritating and just plain out rude. I am very particular about my time, so if I plan on meeting you at 4, its 4. I understand that stuff happens, but if its a chronic thing, this person just does not respect your time.

  7. DH and the boys will be watching the game, while I sneak off to the room to eat food I shouldn't be eating. Oh, and finishing up lesson plans for the week.
  8. Yup, I'm so jealous. I really wish we had other homeschoolers in our neighborhood. Heck, I wish we had kids in our neighborhood.
  9. Wow! Thanks for sharing. I was looking to buy a few of her DVD's. Now I don't have to.
  10. We've been using it for a couple months. It's pretty much open and go. Each days lesson literally takes like 5 minutes. There are only 4 lessons per week, so if we miss a day or two, it's pretty easy to catch up. After years of grammar work books and almost no retention, I am really enjoying the ease of Fix-It. Since we are using it along with IEW SICC-A, I feel they have really been retaining a lot better than before.
  11. Both my boys have a history of seizures and have never had a seizure as a result of the wii. Has your daughter had an EEG? Usually they will try to induce with the flashing lights and neither of my boys did during their EEGs. Then again, every one is different. The risk of seizures is increased with any game system, but we've never had an issue. Maybe you can get with her neurologist?
  12. Never. In the U.S. that is never ok. Gross. :ack2:
  13. My DH had to work. He is in law enforcement and is a supervisor with enough seniority to have that day off. However, he is willing to work to ensure he is able to take off for Christmas.
  14. After homeschooling about 7 years, this is still me each and every day. I'm not sure that feeling ever goes away. 😜
  15. Everyday before bed. There is nothing better than soap and water. Besides, I'm a germaphobe.
  16. You absolutely did the right thing. It's rough, but I'm sure he'd greatly appreciate it. With my boys and their seizures, even the slightest cold would make them VERY VERY sick and almost always resulted in seizures. It was frustrating, but to this day, my friends always give me the heads up if they even think one of them may be sick. I really do appreciate that they are considerate of us. Sending hugs your way.
  17. So sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and prayers your way.
  18. I absolutely hate it. I don't go anywhere if I have to drive by myself at night further than 10-15 min away. It sucks!
  19. 2 of my close friends are pastors wives. They dress like everyone else I know. One is much more fashionable than the other, but they are both quite modest. Everyone defines modest differently, but in my humble opinion, they don't look like they are going to the club, LOL.
  20. I have to agree. We're in Central FL and really enjoy the low cost of living where we're at. We are away from congestion and major traffic. We love it here.
  21. I have my kids share an amazon account, that way if one downloads a kindle book, they each have access to it. We all share an Apple ID for iTunes so whatever we download, we can all access across all the devices. They each have their own email addresses, but they only use them for iMessage through the iPod/iPad. I hope that makes sense.
  22. What a pain! I've had this ipad for close to 2 years and have never had an issue. Yes, I selected save password-no luck. This just started happening the last few days. This is also happening for other sites that I normally save passwords for. I've reset my settings and still no luck. Any suggestions?
