  1. be a bi-leve will not have old windows that leak will not have an HOA will not have the laundry open to the main floor (everyone can see my laundry) will not have a small kitchen will not have all the bedrooms on the main floor
  2. We are strict about the colors of mechanical pencils, pencil boxes, rulers etc-- but notebooks-- not so much -- they can write their names on those
  3. I am looking for a high school level modern history text (preferably that includes the last 20 years) and isn't too liberal or conservative. I know that every writer has a slant and that cannot be avoided, but I would like as neutral of a viewpoint as possible. Most everything is either one way or the other and I would just like to not have to wade through agendas to get to the facts.
  4. Nope, That was my top desire when house hunting-- no HOA, hate them with a passion! Interestingly enough, our neighborhood is sort of in the middle, some stuff that should be improved (in my yard as well), but in spite of that, people troll the area looking for houses for sale-- why? because people are tired of HOAs.
  5. with regards to being afraid of making the neighbor mad---- so what? They made you mad first! I would definitely say something and I would also add a comment about the poisons you keep in your garage (because of the mice!!) If that didn't work, then I would have a hose ready to spray the dog whenever it set foot on my property I used to have a neighbor that was the same way-- they let their dogs out and the dogs came over to my lawn to poop, then went back home-- when it snowed they would poop on the freshly shoveled driveway--- the final straw came when a guest to my home stepped on poop when they got out of their car.
  6. Here is the test--- when she leaves are you wishing she could stay another day, or are you "whew, that's over"????
  7. I wouldn't--- you are feeling guilt you don't have to feel. This could be very hard to undo.
  8. The heating pad thing seems to be "off"--- aren't they attracted to CO2? I suppose the heat won't hurt and might attract some, but a CO2 trap sounds better.
  9. I don't have any real suggestions-- but guess I would try to get her into more solitaire type projects--- piano, swimming, reading in a hammock, bike riding with you and dad, things that she can do that don't require other children and allow her to succeed.
  10. I think that the Dr isn't the issue here-- a company that is willingly trashing your reputation is cause for a strongly worded letter from your attorney--- I say this and I hate attorneys with a passion! and I hate jumping to use them when other means can be used-- but this company is ruining your good name with your medical professional--- this practice must be stopped and I would be furious enough to look into a report to whatever agency controlls the insurance world
  11. BTW-- I tell the children they too, can curse, when they pay the bills and have all the pressures of adulthood.
  12. I too had a potty mouth and I still do to some extent-- I did, however manage to stop the bad words from flowing without conscious thought on my part-- now when I say the F word - I MEANT to say the F word, I really worked hard at saying a word with the same first sound and then I replaced it altogether. Now when I hit my hand with a hammer I say ouch! But at first it was "frick and frack". Now I just need to stop saying the words I mean to say... but honestly I think that some words shouldn't be bad. If you are acting like a donkey-- I should be able to call you one. If you are acting like a female dog- I should be able to call you one.-- If someone can BE that way, why is it bad that I call them on it?
  13. I usually stop talking. I sigh loudly. When they are done and they realize that they have talked over me, I resume.
  14. Also-- you need liquid on the bottom for a lot of things-- I make smoothies with apple, kale, cucumber, celery, and spinach-- I start with the apples and cucumber, then the celery, then the leafy things-- otherwise it just takes too long and is frustrating--- If I was making batter I would start with the liquid first, then the flour
  15. I'll go one step further-- I hate having to have a "card" in the first place-- just give it to me for the price you advertised, No "secret club card" no one price minus the new price here is the actual price you paid.. No-- you could have saved more if you had downloaded these coupons (when I cannot get the website to work with my card and customer service says to just go online and fix things). Just carrots-- as advertised on the flyer you sent to my house. honestly-- this is why I do most of my shopping at Costco
  16. Try the "real decongestants" the ones they hide in the back of the pharmacy, behind the counter, that you have to sign your firstborn away to get, this combined with the the mucinex and LOTS of water. Try this first and if that doesn't work after a few days, start looking for other causes. I get ringing in my ears a lot, mostly it is caused by mucus-- and since you said you have allergies, this would be my first place to start
  17. Divorce him and end the whole discussion (lol)
  18. A lot of times the smell is trapped in the oils-- wash with Dawn dish soap or some other anti- oil soap, with hot water (to help with the oils too) and leave out in the sun afterwards (I have a stinky DH too)
  19. I wouldn't skip three-- but I would skip 4 and move on to WWS 1
  20. I don't use mine as much as I should, but I do like the fact that I can relax about being out of powdered sugar-- because I can make it now.
  21. download Times Attack and have him play (they do division now as well)-- at least he will have his "facts" down and only have to catch up on the long division stuff (if the school is ahead of your schedule) -- you could also order MUS delta and start it over the summer and continue to after school with it throughout the year
  22. It seems to me that schools are spending money they don't actually have-- (which is hard not to do I know) but if they didn't spend the money that could go poof, until the year was fully counted, then they would be ahead, and spend it for the next year.-- It sort of like running a school on credit that hasn't been issued yet. There is so much wrong with our school system that this issue is just another eye roller, make me glad I home school, make me stick to my guns to continue all through high school, issue.
  23. I would have him take the DORA and the ADAM and get a good feel for exactly where he is academically. This test is good, and you get the results back immediately. The reports are detailed and give you a good idea about what needs to be worked on, plus they are interactive, if the child misses a concept the test will respond and lower or raise the level of difficulty. You cannot know where to go forward unless you where you currently are.
  24. It will soon wear off-- just let it be, nothing to get worked up over
