  1. itsheresomewhere, I have an easy bake that was gifted to my daughter several years ago and I don't think it was even opened. Like I said, it's a few years old, but I could send it to you if you'd like. I think it's this model: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/230976041286?lpid=82
  2. Lava lamp? My 12 year old wants (and is going to recieve!) one.
  3. Second the Prairie Primer! I used it with my daughter when she was 10, and we really enjoyed it.
  4. Spiral notebooks and composition books. Most of our stuff is typed or oral, but still I bought about 7 notebooks this year. It's the cute pictures on them. I can't resist. Oh well, we are planning to start doing dictation, so I guess we'll use them for that.
  5. My son is on it right now. We think one more month after this one, and we'll be done. His skin has improved so much! We did have an issue with the accutane making his face inflamed and painful. It looked infected! It was a one in a million reaction, and taking prednisone with the accutane fixed that issue. Nothing else helped his acne much, and I'm glad we decided to do it, but I'm also glad we seem to be in the home stretch.
  6. I saw the bra that this system goes with at the Jockey outlet last weekend. Now I know what I was looking at! They are pricey, $60 per bra.
  7. Congrats on all the medals! DD took it for the first time this year (5th grade), and she earned a gold medal! Whoo hoo!
  8. Is she interested in classes, or just socializing? If classes, try http://www.ga-eph.org/ . We've gone there for a few years now, and my kids love it. Classes are once a week, on Wednesdays. You can take just one class, or as many as you can squeeze in. There are kids from preschool age up to high schoolers. Things are winding down for the year now, but will start fresh in August, and it is moving to a great new location! Edited to add: There will be an open house at the new place on Monday, April 1, from 10 until noon. She would be more than welcome to come check it out.
  9. Naot. Dansko. Aetrex Sandalistas for sandals. Mine are flip flop style. For the walking shoes, I agree with Mandy. Find a good running store with a foot scanner and have them fit you.
  10. My DD likes Mark Kistler's online art classes. He does live classes over the internet Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday. http://www.markkistleronline.com You can get a deal on the classes through Homeschool Buyers Co-op. He also has pre recorded lessons that can be watched at any time at this site: http://www.markkistler.com/OnlineVideo.html . A few are free, and you can subscribe to access the others. Again, I think the Homeschool Buyers Co-op has a deal for this.
  11. I have rheumatoid arthritis. I'm super lucky because my meds are controlling pretty much all of my pain. My biggest problem right now is the fatigue that comes along with it.
  12. Since the beginning of the year, I've bought valentine cards for my daughter to give out, emollient cream for my son (much cheaper than at the dermatologist's office, and exactly the same brand), two bath rugs, Torani flavoring syrup for drinks, fish oil capsules, a video game, and a water filter for the fridge.
  13. Haven't used REAL. We did NOEO Chem II, and started Bio II. We didn't really like the Young Scientist Club experiments. This year we're using Elemental Science, alternating units of Biology For the Logic Stage and Earth and Space for the Logic Stage (obviously we'll take two years for this! Not trying to finish both in one year.). We're also doing their Sassafrass Science Zoology as a fun elective. We are enjoying it much more. We like the DK encyclopedias better than the Usborne Encyclopedia that NOEO uses, and we also find the experiments to be better and more fun. Elemental also has suggested discussion questions for each week, which I don't seem to remember with NOEO, although I could be wrong about that. We plan to continue with Elemental throughout middle school.
  14. I was wondering if it was enough for a high school credit. Thanks!
  15. Homeschooling in GA is pretty easy. Here's a link to the Department of Education's homeschool requirements. http://www.gadoe.org/Curriculum-Instruction-and-Assessment/Pages/Home-Schools.aspx
  16. Has he read Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator? It's the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
  17. Phonetic Zoo. It's working for DD when nothing else would.
  18. In that situation, honestly, I would take the money and send it back to him. Favoring some of my children, and going behind my back to do it would both be huge no-nos.
  19. I thought I was set for the year, but now I must order this! DD will soon be through with Fractions and Decimals. I'm glad you posted or I probably wouldn't have found out about it.
  20. Here's a website with several maps of Middle Earth. http://www.tolkien-archives.com/maps-and-charts-of-middle-earth-other-lands.html
  21. It has 5 parts. Part I has about 90 pages, Part II about 108 pages, Part III 100 pages, and Part IV 100 pages. It spans 1580 to 1631.
  22. Not a picture book, but Farmer Boy always makes me hungry. Seems like half the book is devoted to lovingly describing yummy things to eat!
  23. My 8th grader is currently finishing up Saxon 8/7. I got busy and didn't keep tabs on how he was doing for awhile, and now he's struggling. He's a bright kid, but lazy. We want to start Algebra I in the fall, undecided so far between Saxon and Lial's. I was wondering, if I had him work through the Key to Algebra workbooks, would that help us catch up and get him prepared for Algebra I? Thanks!
