  1. This! “ I don't regret any of it-the time in the car, the travel, and even the money because life is short with kids at home and I always believed that God gave me these kids and gave them their talents and I had a duty to help them develop their talents to the best of my ability”. I have 5 children at home and all five play a sport. 2 gymnasts (Lv10 & my little one training Lv7 now), two softball players, and my boy just started teeball. The days are long and the money spent is mind boggling, but all the sacrifices are worth it in the end.
  2. Thanks for the reply JanetC! I will check out the examples you supplied. I was not referring to a college application, rather an academic resume, to give to the recruiters. After looking at the samples I think this what I need. Thank you again!
  3. My 9th grader is being scouted for collegiate gymnastics. Last weekend as a 1st year Lv10 gymnast she qualified to Junior Olympic Nationals (essentially the Lv10 Olympics) which is super exciting. At Nationals there is a huge recruiter section where we, through her coaches, deliver a package with her gymnastics and academic resume. Has anyone done an academic resume? Can you tell me what to include or provide a sample? Or should I just supply a copy of our school profile?
  4. What is MOOC? Trying to grasp all of this info so forgive me if it has been stated.
  5. I have a competitive gymnast who trains 28 hours a week. This year has been a challenge keeping up with the course load but we are getting it done. She is in 7th grade now, do you have to use one of the schools listed above or can we continue to use the materials we use, i.e. TOG, Saxon for High School? Thanks!
  6. Can you explain what resources you use for your family study? Thanks!
  7. My daughter was accepted to Calvin College early last summer and to Liberty University in October. She plans to attend Liberty in the fall. :001_smile: Congrats to all!
  8. Congratulations!!! 🎉 What region are you in? My gymnast competes in Region 7, and our season starts on 12/20. Enjoy your break!
  9. :grouphug: and praying for your daughter to be healed soon!
  10. We are a gymnastic family. Until last season I had three gymnasts on team, levels. 7, 6 & 4. Now I am down to just my 11 year old who competed Lv. 8 this past season and my 4 year old who is in Advanced Tumble Bunnies. My other two former gymnasts have moved on to Cross Country/Tennis and Softball. Gymnastics is terribly expensive at times, especially since my 11 yr old has reached the level where they travel out of state for many meets, but the dividends from the sport are definitely worth it. We actually left the girls first gym to train at our current gym because my 11 year, who was then 8 yrs old was singled out by the coach. She knew that she had talent that she was not going to get at that gym and urged us to look at the other local gym, 30 minutes away and a whole lot more money. I will say though, that was one of the best decisions we have made in my 11 year olds gymnastics career. She qualified for Lv 8 Regionals this year and has her sights set on being a level 9 come fall. My 4 year old is petite and has very lean lines just like her older sister. Her coach wants to move her to the next level and place her in the developmental track. However, I am not ready for that yet, even if she may be. Compulsory competing age is 7 years old for girls and I am in no rush to get her on team. With this sport you have to be all in. I agree with Tess in the Burbs "I think once you embrace the lifestyle you figure out a way to make it work" and the gym does indeed become like a second family for you. It takes a lot of commitment on the child's part and the parents but I definitely say it is worth it overall.
  11. Finally tall enough to ride the rides at amusement parks.
  12. We have only ever gone during normal public school days. We get there right at opening and leave before preschool classes release. We don't eat the pizza. My 11yr old and I do not have gallbladders and the grease will give us horrible stomach pains.
  13. I am the same way and just 22 weeks. Today I actually fell asleep while reading history to the three younger girls. My 4 yr old brought a blanket and covered me up :) i don't sleep well at night and I am frequently up for 2-3 hours in the middle if the night just to have the alarm go off at 6am.
  14. Seahawks for today. We lived in WA for 12 years. My Broncos play tomorrow :)
  15. I really want to go to the Cincy one but my doctor has already banned me from traveling because of baby. Which is probably a good thing so my water doesn't break mid-convention. Do they normally have recordings available on CD or MP3 of the entire convention? If so, I am hoping to get my hands on one of those.
