Having a pity party upon realizing that of the 8 "core" courses for my 1st BA in psychology 2 decades ago, I took 7 (only needed 5 to graduate) but the 8th, Perception, is the one my target grad program wants. I can take it as part of the master's but it will add to the cost :-(

$930 tuition plus ~$40 textbook rental is an awful lot of money to learn ONE new thing so far in my "Language Science" course aka Grammar 101. "Particles" were not in any of my kids' grammar textbooks.

So if I am having a hard time getting my daughter to do her math lesson because she is making hexaflexagons and thinking about patterns do I consider that a success?

Why does outsourcing classes feel like such a failure?

There are certain homeschooling groups who view it as such. There are also people who view buying pre-made bread and pre-made sausage as failure. I view it as being wise in using your resources and knowing your strengths.

Just told ds11 he isn't allowed to practice piano for more than 20 minutes. Had to set the timer for when he needs to stop. My mom never had that problem with me...

He had actually practiced for 90 minutes Monday, so I'm not a meanie. He just hadn't done any math yet and had a lesson coming up later that day. :-)

We live in the midwest and hubby is in San Diego right now. Not frequent that one can boast of better weather in the midwest than So Cal!

Gave myself permission to give away clothing that is five sizes away from the next child that would wear them, instead of storing them.

I did that after we had a few bags of clothing mildew in storage. Good for you!
