  1. Went out to eat for dh birthday but we had gift cards from Christmas so very little out of pocket. Been trying to eat out of pantry & freezer. Ds had been wanting ice cream. He knew I was going to the store for bread and gave me money to pick up a bucket of ice cream, for the family. Tomorrow there is a free event in town. We will go check it out.
  2. Dollar Tree for tablecloths, cup, plates etc. They have some cute decorations for baby shower too. Other decorations can be actual baby items (bottle, rarttle, towels) that can be used for baby. Packs of diapers, wipes & shampoo can be used as table decorations. Hanging little outfits on a string can be a decoration. Lime sherbet and 7up would make a light green punch. Cake & chips or can of nuts is good. I don't go to showers expecting food or elaborate decorations. I would much rather the money be spent on diapers and other baby items.
  3. Guess my post wasn't really meals. But that is my type freezer meals
  4. I keep browned(& drained)ground in & cooked chicken in the freezer. In freezer bags in portions I mostly use. That way I can make quick meals. I make up meatloaf and freeze it. Chili is good frozen. Roast is good frozen, I just add broth to the bag before freezing. I bake biscuits and freeze so I can take out and microwave a few seconds. Tip, after baking, cool completely on cooling rack then freeze on a tray (just few hours) then drop in freezer bag. This way they don't stick. I cook breakfast sausage patties and do like biscuits (cool, freeze separate & into freezer bag)
  5. Have done all the above, cheap shoes, expensive shoes, hand me down. Hand me down from brother to brother and from friend. We have had good luck & bad luck with all.
  6. We have them & have seen them up close, as in landing on me and in my house. But I still love seeing them. One night we went out to my stepmoms to watch a metor shower. Her field was COVERED in fireflies. It was amazing.
  7. Grand Canyon Mount Rushmore Crazy Horse Yellowstone National parks out west The Alamo Lights on Vegas strip Northern lights Route 66....various sites along way New Orleans, mardi gras, historic sites Niagara Falls And more. I want to see snow capped mountains, beautiful trees in all their colors in the fall. I want to experience culture thru sites and food.
  8. :hurray: :hurray: on selling & buying hjffkj :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: to all y'all for selling extra stuff or other people's throw aways  I have been looking around the house for stuff I could sale but haven't found anything yet. Most ours need replacing due to being old & wore out :tongue_smilie: I could have tried selling some school curriculum but chose to give it away. The ones I gave it to needed it but we're in a tight spot. I went to the store. Think I did pretty good. Stayed within budget and got a couple extra items  Stuff to make extra meals.
  9. Nope nothing matches. Something always breaks when we aren't expecting it to. That means buy whatever is on sale or take whatever family members are getting rid. Not matching doesn't bother me so all is good.
  10. Sorry SKL school - full day store - we are out of major things general clean up
  11. Sorry for all the expenses Soror Past week was ok spend wise. I went to the store for coffee. Had enough to get through the week and maybe the next but it was on sale, really good sale. I couldn't get extra stuff since I only took in enough cash to get coffee. Dh brought home some lunch leftovers from work. Enough for us to have supper. Hung out with friends at the park. Downloaded a free book. Good stuff and free. I will have to go to store soon. We are getting low on necessities but think I did pretty good for the week.
  12. Corelle here. I have bleached those spots. I had 3 sets, 2 matching & 1 different. A few pieces got broke through the years so I started checking goodwill and yard sales for pieces. No they don't match but that doesn't bother us. I only needed plates or bowls so no sense in buying a complete set. I have seen some corelle sets at grocery stores for cheaper than at walmart
  13. Awesome deals hjffkj :hurray: :hurray: Looking at some notes I had made I found out I have also a Christmas gift for my youngest nephew. I don't have money to start shopping but I started a list of "ideas".
  14. I had one. I don't know if it got taken to the attic (why???) or sold in yard sale or taken to goodwill. Just know it's not in my kitchen. It was a good heavy one too. I have a tube pan (angel food cake pan) in the kitchen. My onions are sitting in it. (again why???)
  15. check calendar for upcoming events plan meals vacuum laundry clean kitchen Don't spend the whole day reading and enjoying the sunshine.
  16. Dust is a protective coating ;) Yes I need to dust & deep clean but I am itching just thinking about it.
  17. Y'all are doing good on the Christmas shopping. I have nothing. Oh wait I do have a puzzle and gag gift for my stepdad. August was a spendy month. Among other things our fridge went out but was blessed when we got a great deal on a new one. I am so very thankful. September is starting out in the hole. And we have a couple extra bills this month. So I am trying to be creative. We do have food in the pantry and freezer. I am trying to come up with meals from there as long as I can. Planning on only shopping for necessities (milk, bread, toilet paper etc. ). We have a tradition of eating lunch out on the 1st day of school. We start Tuesday. I have a little money set aside for this. I am going to encourage ds to pick the taco house. They have a deal on Tuesdays. We have a great group of friends that like to get together at the park and hang out. So that gives us something to do without spending money. The other day I got really down about the way things are. Then I decided I have to much to be thankful for. So I have been trying to be upbeat and get more creative. It will all work out!
  18. Happy birthday Scraps DD  Love the gifts! Mine ask for tools or weird things to make homemade or tools from history. Sometimes weird stuff but turns into cool stuff. Dh and several extended family members have September birthdays. Thinking they will all get food related items. :thumbup1: I love fall but that means closet to Christmas...which I am NOT ready for.
