  1. Bananagrams Dutch Blitz Dominoes Sequence
  2. Our local CC offers a Cisco certification course. It is pretty intensive.....3 semesters full time. BUT, the graduates have done well on Red Hat and Cisco certification exams. Also, our CC offers Microsoft office certifications throught their Community Education program (ie not a degree seeking program).
  3. Does she like PlayMobile or Lego? Weaving loom? Knitting supplies? Solo games like Rush Hour?
  4. Throw blankets are always my go to for dd's boyfriends over the years. Hat and scarf set. Trail and/or hiking guide. Hydroflask water bottle (I like these better than Yeti) or travel mug. Maybe a gift bag of water bottle, hiking snacks, chocolate covered espresso beans, emergency whistle? Or a gift bag with hat, scarf, gloves? Do they like Frisbee golf? Picnic blanket or basket?
  5. Do you like marshmallows? Or bark? Bang Candy Company is excellent!
  6. I'm back online. My computer fried something (or something fried in my computer) so I've not been online for a while. I met the nephrologist. She wants me to follow a low sodium diet, and keep protein around 80 gms. Red meat once a week. She said to be aware of potassium, not because we labs indicated a problem, but because of ACE Inhibitor. She doesn't anticipate a problem. My labs for the last 4 years have been stable, only varying a few points in either direction. Having only 1 kidney now (and that was quite a surprise to find out), means I must be very careful
  7. I too only have one kidney now. We want to protect the remaining one. A referral to nephrologist could take up to 2 months so urologist said to start following a renal diet. I'm searching and reading, but it is not coming naturally.
  8. I have a series 2. I love it. Besides the fitness app, I like to check the weather, send texts, answer calls, etc.
  9. I remember in middle school years thinking it would be my last chance for some things. For example, science in high school was fairly laid out for me: 4 credits: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, plus 1 more to interest (oldest chose equine science, youngest chose genetics). I realized middle school would be my last chance for general, earth science and I wanted to make sure I covered what needed to be done. I looked at high school history and saw US, World, Econ/Govt and decided to do geography. I also wanted to round out any logic/critical thinking before hitting high school math. I guess I saw 7th and 8th as an opportunity to wrap some things up and round out other things.
  10. not a food item, but I like bath salts. We make peppermint bath salts as gifts. Food items: homemade vanilla or vanilla sugar, shortbread, candies of any time, gifts in a jar (brownies, cookies, etc)
  11. It seems I've developed quite a kidney problem. The urologist is referring me to a nephrologist but he said in the meantime, I should go on the renal diet. I've done a bit a research about foods to avoid, but I'm still a bit overwhelmed by it all. I'm also trying to find a nutritionist or dietician who can help steer me in the right direction. Any recommendations or advice is appreciated. Also, I'm trying to manage chronic pain without NSAIDs or turmeric. I'd love some input on that as well. It also seems that I've developed arthritis, bone spurs, bulging discs, and degenerative discs. I see my GP, who found the kidney problem and referred me to the urologist, tomorrow. Any suggestions or advice would be very helpful
  12. I'm not on my computer so I'm not sure how to take a pic with this one. Look on amazon for L & M gym bag with shoe compartment. There are several similar. Mine has a wet/dry compartment too
  13. my caddie is a round-ish thingy with compartments. I found it at Khols
  14. I love my bag, but dh bought it for my birthday and I have no idea what brand it is. One thing I do like, is a shower caddie. Mine is mesh, small, folds up when not in use and has a loop to hang in the shower.
  15. anyone have any experience with this situation?
  16. I'd like to give my aunt yarn for Christmas. She is 90, says she has everything, won't make a Christmas list. But, I know she loves to knit and recently remarked that the store she buys her knitting supplies from has closed. She makes hats and some blankets for the local hospital. I'm assuming they are for the nursery. I know she likes Red Heart yarns. So, how many skeins? What weight? What type? I will be mailing her gift so I either need to buy from a company who will ship it to her, or I need to box it up and mail it. (or UPS). What do y'all suggest??
  17. I've done so much PT over the past 4 years. I think that is why I'm getting discouraged. I'm now doing Pilates (with the doctor approving) and it has only been 2 months...too soon to tell if it is helping
  18. Yes, I agree with the imaging. I don't want to do it....hate closed spaces. I'm trying to see if I'm missing anything that would help
  19. So I've had back "issues", foot issues, and chronic pain for about 4 years. Imaging has shown spondylolisthesis and degerative discs. Basically, I've been told to do PT, do Pilates, keep weight down, take NSAIDS as needed and "see you next time." I'm tired of it. I went to sports medicine doc who wants new MRI (last one was 3 years ago). Xrays were last done in January with no change at all from 3 years ago. Pain is worse at times and better at times. Abilites are being reduced. I am hoping to walk a mile today...as opposed to being happy with a 3 miles walk. I'm constantly thinking about whether or not I can do something (like go to an airshow, go on vacation, go on a car trip, take a tour of a museum). So.....help me come up with treatment ideas. I don't want cortisone shots. I don't want surgery. What else do we have??
  20. My massage therapist uses these stones for massage and it feels wonderful on my sore back and feet!! I want to get some to use at home. The stones are not a problem, I can find those. What to use as a warmer? Do you put them in the oven?
  21. Dd said MUS is quite clear. She just reminded me that we did MUS Calculus with Saxon Physics. The math in Saxon Physics was a good supplement. She said she wanted more math. MUS calculus was not "enough" for her since she wanted vector physics. This dd LOVES math. She borrowed oldest dd's boyfriend's college calculus books to work problems for fun.
  22. Youngest dd used MUS for Precalculus and Calculus in high school. She is now in college at her 4 year university majoring in math and computer science. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and while at CC was the only first year student selected for Amatyc. Her professors have always said she has an excellent grasp of conceptual and theoretical side of math. FYI, we used TT for Algebra 1, 2, and Geometry.
  23. Dd, away at college, is not getting mail other than what I send her. I'd hoped friends and relations would have sent her a card or 2 by now. What are some free magazines or catalogs I could request for her so her mailbox isn't empty? I don't want to do a magazine subscription because the box rental is only for the school year.
  24. I guess it depends. I know a "kid" or 2 who jumped into boot camp right out of high school.....as in, get GED, turn 17 and get going. I also know some who wanted to go in as officers, so they completed college first. Job readiness outside of military will depend upon job inside military.
