  1. I think this falls under the category of offensensitivity as discussed in another thread. ETA: hs'ers like the one you describe are part of the reason people think we're all nuts.
  2. No advice, but I'll admit this is one of the reasons I hs my son. The kid would never make it onto a bus at 7am. :glare:
  3. :iagree:This and The Prestige are both good, but neither is on instant. Boo.
  4. For future reference... Shutter Island is a good conspiracy flick, but it may be too intense for your taste. It's on instant.
  5. Ime, there is a genetic correlation, but factors like those Diane mentioned can alter things. Like Diane's daughter, my dancer dd started her menses later than I. I'm also going through menopause at approximately the same age as my mom and grandma and with the same general symptomology.
  6. Yes, I do, and I'm grateful. Not to knock women whose husbands are their best friends, but I think a woman needs another woman to talk to. There are things I just don't want to discuss with my dh, kwim? Not to mention, sometimes I need to kvetch about him. :D I have two friends I've been friends with forever, but my closest current friend I met through ds's theater group. I take my friends where I can get them. :)
  7. Dd's friend Isabella uses this nickname. Her mom hates it, and always calls her Bella. :)
  8. I don't think enough people know that Isabella and Elizabeth are the same name that it should matter. I only know because my great-grandma was Isabella in Italy and Elizabeth when she emigrated to this country. :)
  9. Thanks for sharing. Ds liked, esp. after seeing Pirates 4 yesterday.
  10. Have you read Dr. Andrew Weil's book Spontaneous Healing? I read it when I had Lyme disease. In it, he talks about using natural medicine, diet, and mental/emotional/spiritual energy to help manage chronic conditions. There are many stories of patients who have achieved remission. Your library most likely carries it.
  11. Our mailman drives up our very long driveway and leaves packages by the door, and even rings the bell if it's raining outside. I need to bake that guy a Christmas fruitcake...
  12. Have you ever considered seeing a naturopath? They can be extremely helpful in managing chronic conditions. I'm sorry you're in pain. :grouphug:
  13. We call them carbonated beverages, doesn't everyone? :001_huh: JK. We call them soda.
  14. Can you write something about the process? For instance, "Sentence structure was a bit choppy, but was reworked satisfactorily"? Keystone has a rubric for essays somewhere on the site. Congrats on being done. I so wish ds was!
  15. :iagree:As well, I totally take what people say about their kids' "accomplishments" with that a grain (or six) of salt.
  16. I rarely (like twice per year) drink soda, but when I do, I ask for Coke.
  17. I understand what Mergath is saying, but in the context of asking for prayer, it makes more sense. If it were just, "Hey, fyi - my dh is having a stroke!", I might wonder, too. I'd just ignore, however.
  18. Blackbeard was my favorite character in this one. Loved him... well, as much as one can love an evil, bloodthirsty villian. ;)
  19. Wow. I see serious counseling in someone's future. Poor kid.
  20. jennifermarie, if you remember a kiss from a mermaid keeps a sailor from drowning. Can't really say more than that without spoiling it for others. :)
  21. Not to belittle the point, but accidentally asking for a dip recipe in a troll thread is what you might call ironical. ;)
