  1. Ages: 7, 4, 2.....how am I going to keep them quiet and happy on that long of a non-stop flight? I am hoping they will sleep a little bit.
  2. Where I live (East Coast, USA) 10 an hour seems normal.
  3. I used to hate wearing shoes in the house too, but now that we have hardwood floors everywhere in this house, and I felt like it was bothering my back, I bought a pair of Born shoes that are MORE comfy than going barefoot. Worth every penny. Might be something to consider?
  4. I get help with music and art. Sometimes my babysitter will do math or science with dd if I need her to help out during the day.
  5. Thanks for your thoughts, all. It is a hard call, some of the school look awesome! The flexibility of homeschooling is also appealing. Sometimes, it's hard to decide what the best option is.
  6. We just peel and cut up apples, cover just barely with water and slow-steam them till soft. Them mash and serve!
  7. Background: currently in the States, and we homeschool our 2cnd grader and do pre-K with our 4 year old. One of the deciding factors of why we homeschool where we love now, was because we didn't like any of the schools in our area. There are no private schools, and the public schools in our county have too many kids:teacher ratios and we weren't comfortable with that. Homeschooling has been an overall great experience so far. We are part of a few homeschool networks and co-ops, which has been helpful. We have a 1 year assignment downtown in a big city in India. We can pick any school we want to send the kids to, or I can just take all our materials and keep homeschooling over there. Part of me likes the highly focused academic structure and the small class sizes that some of the schools over there seem to have. Park of me wants to just keep doing what I am already doing. But I will have no homeschooling network over there, or anyone really. I don't know a single person in the city we are moving to. What would you do? Thank you for your thoughts about this.
  8. Hi!! I think I added you as a friend. Did I? Unsure how this board works.

  9. My dd loves lego kits. We have a large tub full of small lego pieces, though, and while I do buy her kits sometimes, I'd like for her to just dig into the tub and make something, maybe using some printed directions or suggestions. But I can't find any. Do you know of any? What are some ideas I can give her so we can make use of them. There are probably 1000 pieces or more in the container.
  10. Kinda tired of PBS.kids and Nickjr.com around here....where do your kids go online to play? 1st and 2cnd grade level or so. Thanks!

  12. Thanks for the thoughts. We do a lot of road travel, our church is 1 hour away, not to mention everywhere else. Only the grocery store is nearby for us. So I'm leaning towards getting one for the car and waiting in lines only. Not excited about seeing them play inside the house when there is so much else they can be doing.
  13. My almost 7 year old really wants one. Most of her friends have them, and she loves to play them when she sees one. I've never wanted to get her that sort of toy, but I guess I am reconsidering and I want some opinions. Do your kids have this sort of toy? Are you happy about it, or not? Thanks!
  14. I sometimes hole-punch them along the right side of the paper and file them t hat way if I have too. Every loose paper gets hole punched and stored in a binder.
  15. My nephew is turning 5, and loves all things spaceship related. Having all girls, and no spaceships in our house, I'm not sure what toys out there are good purchase, and what books about spaceships I should get. Any suggestions from your experience? Thank you!!
  16. Did you start a foreign language that early? If so, which one, and was it a language you already knew? How did you do it?
  17. At 103 or higher, I take them to the peds to make sure it's not an ear or chest infection....
  18. Ok, I have netflix, and other than BBC's, which ones can you watch instantly that you really like?
  19. Thanks, ladies, for the ideas. Basically I need to get more creative and make it fun, as alot of your ideas suggest. For phonics, we are using a Modern Curriculum Workbook, which she does not like, but I can tell her spelling has improved since using it! But I do see a need to mix it up more, with activities. I really want her to like school.
