  1. In my hot area people do just what you said, shift the outside activities to early morning and evening. It is not unusual during the summer to find groups of kids at our local park after dark (it's well lit), and many people are out at 5-6 am to walk their dogs before the pavement gets hot. Water activities (swimming, tubing, water parks, water bouncy houses, etc) are also popular. There are a few places that have indoor field-type activities (indoor soccer for example).
  2. Pasta with 15 minute burst cherry tomato sauce. It's good, we've made it several times. My husband loves it, but I cook it a lot longer than 15 minutes. https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/pasta-with-15-minute-burst-cherry-tomato-sauce-56390060
  3. I like this one the best of the ones I've tried: https://smile.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Popsicle-Molds-Free/dp/B083BVB76M/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=stainless+popsicle+mold&qid=1622862836&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzUVUzOVBaTDZJSTdIJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTcyNDkwS1E4M00zNzY5TjZYJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA4MzMzMjc5MjM0S0FaNTNCNlkmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
  4. I use Hamama currently too, but have also used a mason jar with a mesh lid. Both work. The Hamama has more on-going costs, since you need to buy the seed quilt. In my climate (very dry) I have trouble finding the right moisture level for the growing sprouts, but if I pay close attention it works well. If I don't, they either wilt or rot. Here's a site with a lot of info and items to consider: https://sproutpeople.org/sprout-kits/
  5. Totally understand! No one wants to go for an emergency visit. A screaming dog does sound pretty urgent however.
  6. Since the symptoms come and go a bit, I would recommend that you videotape as many different episodes of it as you can. Some dogs become very stoic and their limping/pain doesn't show in a vet's office.
  7. Make very sure that you do not use any peanut butter product that has xylitol in it (xylitol is toxic to dogs). You might consider a peanut butter powder like this one, if you want to cut down on fat. https://smile.amazon.com/Premium-Powdered-Peanut-Butter-Farms/dp/B00NQLE5JC/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=peanut+butter+powder+unsweetened&qid=1619107499&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE4OVNQV0tQSDlLOFomZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA4NjUyNDkzNEFYWVdRTDcxSVA5JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1NDcyMzkxR1NQNTVQNDFLRkM1JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== There are MANY peanut butter dog treat recipes out there, and I can't say that I have ever used a cookie cutter type recipe, but making dog treats is easy. I make dog treats for my dog that has a sensitive stomach by grinding up his regular food to a powder and mixing with egg and chicken baby food and some rice or oatmeal baby food and water to get the consistency I like. I bake in a mold like this to get small training treats https://smile.amazon.com/Palksky-468-Cavity-Silicone-Chocolate-Decoration/dp/B07Z4PNBM6/ref=sr_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=dog+treat+mold&qid=1619107957&sr=8-14 Here is a very simple recipe to consider for roll-out treats: https://damndelicious.net/2015/01/07/homemade-peanut-butter-dog-treats/ Boiled skinless chicken breast cut into cubes also makes a healthy high protein treat.
  8. While I love Dave's Killer bread too, since you are looking for something specifically to toast and spread, you might give this some consideration: https://www.leftyspoon.com/2015/04/17/sarah-brittons-life-changing-loaf-of-bread/ I've made it before and I like it quite a bit. It is VERY dense, so you slice it thin and toast it. It would be very nice spread with peanut butter or jam or whatever strikes your fancy. ETA: you probably wanted a commercial option, so the recipe may not appeal, but it was easy to make as I remember it.
  9. I think you need a new bike for her. Learning is hard enough without the extra anxiety about not feeling safe. You might find someone willing to loan you one for a short time (or even give you one) if you ask around or post on local groups.
  10. Can you lower the seat so she can reach the ground more easily? Once the bike is sized correctly, it really helped my daughter when we found a gentle hill she could glide down. That way she didn't have to focus on both learning to pedal and learning to steer and balance. Once she was comfortable gliding down the hill, we added in the pedaling.
  11. Dave's Killer Bread (all the varieties we've tried so far) is delicious and it's our default bread now.
  12. Yes, but it's not cheap! A big chunky knit natural fiber blanket like this works. https://bearaby.com/products/tree-napper We got one for my son for Christmas and he really likes it.
  13. My border terrier would have been in heaven with mice to hunt! It is one of the reasons I didn't get another border terrier -- we had to watch him like a hawk with baby birds, pet rats, and bottle fed kittens too.

  15. It's funny how much they can vary! When we picked our puppy there was a gorgeous merle puppy left, but she was independent and standoffish. And a quiet little boy who was very sweet and just wanted to be held. We went middle of the road with personality.
  16. Yes, from working lines. He won't win any shows, but we think he's a cutie.
  17. i have and like this one, although I use a separate long handled candle lighter for the ignition: https://smile.amazon.com/Flame-King-YSNPQ810CGA-Propane-Lighting/dp/B07L5HBZJL/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=propane+torch+weeding&qid=1615163157&sr=8-5 It is very portable, which I like. It takes a big longer than you might expect to burn each individual weed, so the model with the cone on the tip might work a bit better (haven't compared them). But it looks like those hook up to a big propane tank, and mine works with a small canister.
  18. Poor boy. I would also recommend plenty of time out of doors and exercise suited to his abilities. If he is dog friendly, see if you can find a buddy for him to play with occasionally. Then good food, lots of love, and some time.
  19. On many website you can filter by depth. Here's one example, filtered by a water depth of 18-21". It is sorted by price (low to high): https://www.signaturehardware.com/bathroom/bathtubs/shopby/tub_depth_multi-18_19-20_21/tub_style-freestanding.html?dir=asc&g_acctid=7220359250&g_adgroupid=103505218967&g_adid=477631823027&g_campaignid=9764722994&g_keyword=freestand+tub&g_keywordid=kwd-332204243250&g_network=g&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4feBBhC9ARIsABp_nbUd1NWD3ZwbSjA7OVHhqIWFTTQGh1g17vywm8MT0UbJdllhIpIpl50aAqk_EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&order=price
  20. I THINK I've reformed ... I chose easy-care plants (especially at first). I water on a set schedule -- Wednesdays and Sundays (dry, hot environment); some plants won't need watering that often, but I at least check on them. I use a terra cotta plant watering spike for plants that are supposed to be kept evenly moist and then water sparingly otherwise. I use a foliar spray for diluted fertilizer, which also helps keep dust off the leaves. I checked the pH of my tap water adjust as needed with pH Down drops. So far I'm doing better than I ever have, but I haven't got my Miracle Berry or coffee plants to set fruit, so I'm sure I have room for improvement. At least they are alive!

  22. That's what we put on Dutch baby (alo known as Puff or German) pancakes and it's delicious. When I was a kid I preferred to eat my regular pancakes with powdered sugar instead of maple syrup. It was very good that way!
  23. That is a great price! I've been part of two different ones; the first was a great experience but the second was not as good. It sounds like you have very little to lose, and I'd do it in a heartbeat under those circumstances. 4x8 is a pretty small plot, so I'd consider getting more than one. Theft was a big problem in one of my community gardens, but it was the gophers! They would take down the whole plant overnight.
