  1. wow! im so happy im not the only one. this as been an incredibly stressful 6 weeks. my son previously did well with singapore in gr.6 and now in gr.7 when we moved into singaore's . discovering maths he is taking sooo long. he was great at math facts and now he has take few extra secs to remember them and he gets some wrong?not to mention all the careless mistakes he has been making. i dont have time for extra reinforcemnt as we would never at this rate be able to finish by the end of yr. i was considering switching to saxon.

    hmm

  2. my son is in gr.7 with no experience in classical writing . we focused all the last 6 years on narrative/poetry writing.(writing workshop model). he likes creative writing.he is not keen on the switchover so even in week 5 he requires me to do the lesson with him. he prefers it .I read the lesson aloud and then send him off to do assignment. i am there to work with him if he gets stuck or revise his narrations/outlines. is that ok?by week 13 do you think he will be able to do it independtly. also is it normal some lessons take over an hour?

    thanks

ps im so pleased with his expository writing . i hope this will help us with history/science writing which until now we havent focused on as i didnt know how to teach it.

  3. i finished 6b with my non mathy son after having done all pm bks, We moved into dm1 which he is not liking and slogs thru even basic exercises . im not sure its level of difficulty, age, (hormones he 12,5 boy) or needs better explantions or maybe due long lessons.their is defintelty a lack of foucus and most of his work is careless mistakes.

do you do dm with lial and how if so do u weave the two.

i am only in chapter two and everyday is battle of wits to get him focus and not make careless mistakes and takes sooo loong to complete ex,

pls if you can help with your experience

    thanks

  5. i really am happy to discover you've published wws to help me with outlining and lit criticism, bio sketches, written narrations etc.(which i was at loss how to teach)however im wondering what to do as my gr.7 son has been doing since k lucy calkins' writing workshop unit of studies with some other kids i teach. i planned for him to do this yr the narrative, poetry, memoir, essay and fiction units. As you know the workshop model is time consumimg as it last 60-90 minutes a session. we started the writing workhop from a young age as he showed an interst and aptitude in writing.now i am rethinking what to do for next yr. do you recommend i do Writing Workhop 3x week and WWS the other two. Writing workshop has to be taught at least 3x does the same apply to wws. if so should i have him do the 6th writing class on a weekend so we get in 3x a week for each program

thank you for taking the time out to help me.

    3. if i do wws do still make my gr.7 son do one weekly outline/narration in history and one weekly narration /outline in sciene

4.isthe written narration i do in history based on the outline he completes first from what he has read

  7. i was going to do a yr chem study or maybe a half year with other half being physics. with thames c3000 kits and thames kosmos physics kits.

do you think prentice hall's science explore would work as spine? what science explorer books deal with physics?

i will also supplement reading with bios, non fiction bks that deal chem/physic matters and joy hakim's science books.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated

    thanks
