  1. I have a question about the tests. I just bought a used set of tests and the test key. It was described as complete. There is no test or test key for chapter 11. However, in the teacher edition it is stated that there is a test available for this chapter. So, I'm really confused. Does anyone know if I'm missing something or if its a mistake in the teacher edition? I don't want to order another set just to find out its the same. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

  2. I've heard of some only counting test scores without grading daily work. I've heard of some who count daily work and grades; some give an extra 10% for the childs attitude, etc...

This is our first year of High School (grade 9) and I've just been grading the daily work and the tests as is with a goal of final grade being composed of 60%tests and 40% daily work. Now I'm wondering if what I'm doing is right or if I should be doing something differently.

I'm also wondering if its necessary to have quarterly/semester grades for the transcript, or do I only need the year end grade? We go year round 4 days a week with breaks here and there which makes it a bit difficult to break it up into quarters/semesters.

So, I'd love to hear how others handle this.

    Thanks a lot!

  3. Thanks, everyone. I don't feel comfortable or knowledgeable enough to try to put something together. I was hoping to find something all put together for us. In my internet search I came across A Beka computer applications. But, I think its now called Document processing, not sure if the two are the same. I suppose that might work, but I don't know anything about it. Anyone have any experiencewith either of those? Thanks!

  4. I'm having my 9th grader do Writing with Skill, R & S English writing assignments as they come up, and composition suggestions in Abeka Literature as they come up. He thinks it's too much.

He says he loves WWS, just not the others. He's never been a great fan of writing. He did complete the Writing Strands series, but I was never able to get him to do the writing assignments for History/Science as outlined in the Logic stage of TWTM, so I'm avoiding it for high school now as well. But, I do want to give him plenty of writing anyway. WWS does include sci/hist topics so that helps.

Any advice or opinions would be helpful.
