There is a community on Fire Island where it is illegal to walk around with straws or disposable cups. I believe if people can't be trusted to do what is obviously better for the earth then they need to be told. They tell us what lanes we can drive in during rush hour, whether or not we can hold phones while driving, and even if we can be out after dark as a teen in some places. Why not limit an environmental hazard that has other options? Aldi is a fine example of cutting down the fluff to offer lower prices. No fancy shelves and no bags. Pass on the savings and you will get results.

This is why I love Giant near me. Grab the hand scanner, scan and bag as I go, and whisk through checkout. I get the bags packed the way I like and they even give me 5 cents per reusable bag! and gas points!

So is it also a hassle to carpool, conserve energy, or do anything else that saves the earth? I don't get that attitude from someone who takes such a huge inconvenience as homeschooling onto their shoulders. You use them, wash them once every few weeks, put them in your trunk. Hard?

Don't wash-just soak in a very mild bleach solution and hang to dry. Like 1 cap for a sinkfull diluted.

Common sense does not prevail and if it did we would be in good shape. If you don't recycle then don't use plastic and glass. If you have no money don't keep having kids. If you are on food stamps don't spend them at 7-11....and the list goes on. We are a nation of entitlement. No one should have to tell anyone how to behave responsibly and do right by their families(not short term unexpected issues). I use recyclable bags until I need some to gather recycling in. I gather any cans or bottles in them, take them out and put them in the big blue bag. I can carry double the amount in reusable bags so why use anything else! PLUS I made some really lovely ones out of old curtain material and it is way stronger than the ones you buy in the store.

Oh no one in the house but me would be eating it. My tree nut allergies can eat almond so I am not worried about the flour. I did get sunbutter to try in the bread instead and if it flops I will try almond butter.

Okay I am going to try to avoid potato starch first. I am hoping that flax or that will be the answer since I just bought packs of namaste muffin mix on amazon. I hate to bring cashew butter into the house since I have 2 that are deathly allergic to cashews. Do you think I could sub almond butter for that????

3 hour grocery trip in 2 stores today. Lesson planning and laundry this afternoon. Now I am going to settle in with a glass of red wine to watch DC United soccer. Tomorrow may be just as exciting.

Flax is an ingredient. I guess I need to play around with it and see. I don't normally eat bread anyway but it is nice to have toast once in a while!

Can someone take a guess at what in Gluten free bread might have cause my stomach to revolt?? Wheat gives me migraines and gluten free bread bothers my stomach. Suggestions??

I know it stinks but when the economy tanked a few years ago my DH took a huge pay cut because he did not receive any bonus for 2 years. That amounts to 6 figures in pay lost over 2 years. It really stunk but there was no one to complain to or about. We just had to deal. Hopefully the hill will get its act together and figure out this mess.
