  1. We used Rainbow Science. It has less reading and simple experiments. You can also buy the kits to go with it that has everything you need to do the experiments. It is also written to the student.
  2. I'm thinking about switching to Math Mammoth, but my daughter definitely needs review as we work through any math book. How often are the cumulative reviews in Math Mammoth? Thanks! Sarah
  3. We've used it a little bit, and I do believe you can do that. You can also just assign parts of a unit if you wish. It can be a little glitchy at times, though. For the price, I can deal with that :)
  4. We have the elementary sentence composing book, and I really like it. You want Grammar for Middle School. It is the one that is like the sentence composing book.
  5. We use IEW and Sentence Composing. When we finish a "section" of Sentence Composing, I add it in to the dress-up requirements for his assignments. For example, after we finished the section on prepositional phrases, I had him include in his following IEW assignments a prep. phrase opener, a closer, and an s-v split.
  6. This is our first year using it. I have an Upper Grammar student and a Dialectic Student. It is really working well especially for my older child. I don't assign everything, and I sub. out books for ones our library has when needed. I like printing out what I need for the week with out having to hunt down resources. I also like that I can make the week as meaty or as light as I need it. I think it will continue to be a good fit as my children continue to grow. Hope you like it!
  7. I like using copywork and have been looking for ways to add to it for my children. In addition to the ones you've mentioned above, we plan on copying maps like what is outlined in the book The Core.
  8. My daughter has enjoyed several of the ones listed. One of her favorite series is Minnie and Moo. Happy Reading!
  9. I read Number the Stars this past fall to my then ds12 and dd9. It was a really good book. My daughter enjoyed it, but I'm not so sure if my son liked it.
  10. My seventh grade son hadn't done any grammar until this year. We use Analytical Grammar, and I have been very pleased with it. Nothing exciting, but it gets the job done well.
  11. I have a boy and girl, and at that age, some of there favorites were: Understood Betsy (about a girl, but they both liked it) The Princess and the Goblins Pagoo
  12. eeek! I plan on ordering this very soon, and I had a feeling it was going to be difficult. Hope you get an answer soon!
  13. We bought shower board. We've been using it for a year, and i have no problems with ghosting. I do recommend EXPO markers. But not the low odor kind. The ones that aren't low odor erase completely even if the writing has been up for a week.
  14. We are starting a Book of Centuries this fall. I'm making my own following these instructions. We don't have a lot of wall space. But if we did, I would string a long clothesline or string along the wall. And with each fact we wanted to add to the wall, I would write it on an index card and clothes pin it in place. Here are some ideas and links.
