  1. My daughter is 8 and she can go either way. She is not asking to do the experiments but I know if we did them she would enjoy it. I do not like the getting the supplies together and .....I guess the work that goes into it.:tongue_smilie: It is just not my thing....the mess.
  2. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  3. I am new to home schooling this year and now I am looking back at the year and I feel that my Science was very laid back. I did not do any experiments with my 4th grader. I really do not like Science and that is the reason I didn't do the experiments. Is there a curriculum out there that you do not have to do experiments?? Or....do I need to suck it up and do them??? Any suggestions are welcomed and NEEDED. Thanks in advance. Lori Di
  4. How do you make it cheaper and healthier? I feel that if I go healthy it usually ends up being more expensive.
  5. I was in a horrific horseback riding accident 3 years ago and nearly lost my leg. Since then I have had severe pain in my leg to the point I am in bed a lot. I have also gained weight because I don't move as much and the weight makes my pain worse. I also have bouts of depression and that makes my weight worse and in turn makes my pain worse. What a vicious cycle. I walk with a limp and most of my weight is on the other leg. This makes my back and knee hurt because I am not lined up properly. I do not want to go on pain meds so I just deal with it(barely). It is very depressing when I think of who I used to be but I also think of the positive......at least I have a leg! Try to think of the positives....being able to be with your children even if it is sitting and reading a book, being able to see the sun come up and down, etc. Talking to people about it also helps. ps a little chocolate also helps me every once in a while! :grouphug:
  6. I just tried that the other day and dipped them in cinnamon sugar! Friends decided to come over with a few minuted notice...nothing in the house to offer. Cut up some tortillas and fried them and quickly tossed in sugar......and wha la! They were fantastic! My daughter is begging for me to make them again.
  7. We live in NJ but traveled to Alexandria Va for a colonial tour of Alexandria. It is very close to Washington and we continued our journey to Washington. The tour was called Colonial Tours of Alexandria. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about history in general. My 8 year old loved it and can't wait to go back. Hope this helps.
  8. I was on Fire for the Lord and our church a year ago. I am still on fire for the Lord but now I do it within my own home. We had a major upset in our church and it has left me not to trust in our pastor and ??? the church in general. I still fellowship with my christian friends on a regular basis but the word I get from reading my bible and occasionally a womans study group. It has been very hard for me. My pastor betrayed me...lied... etc.it was horrific and sad. Still trying to get over it and move slowly back into the church. My son was also attending the youth group and we pulled him out too. I feel really bad for my son that he left some of his friends but with what we had to go thru I could not allow him to continue to go there. We are slowly getting him to attend another youth group but at the moment he is not going on a regular basis. :confused1:
  9. My son did the same thing to me. He was working and going to college...ya know all the right things. Then...the girl or shall I say woman came into his life! She was his boss! 26 he was 18. I did not allow him to see her talked to him about priorities the whole motherly/fatherly thing.......and he moved out! One moth later she was pregnant but I did not know because he kept it from me for 5 months!!! This was a kid that never gave us problems, great work ethic, and had his head on straight. Now he is 21 broken up with the girl and quit college! He does have a beautiful daughter and he still has a great work ethic. Thank you Lord Jesus! We still love him and his daughter but at 18 theyy have a mind of their own. I think you should call your daughter out on her behavior but know that at 18 she will do what SHE wants to do. Hopefully she will take your advice!
  10. I had gall bladder problems that I ignored until.....A week before I was going to Italy, I had an attack. I went to the doctor and he sent me to get an ultrasound. I had over thirty yes 30 stones! They wanted to operate right away. NO!!!!I was going to Italy, and so I went. Two weeks later arriving at Newark airport, I had another attack. I went to the hospital and I had an infection in my pancreas and had to wait for surgery in the hospital for a week without eating. It was terrible! They took my gall bladder out and I have been fine ever since. My advise...Go to the doctor!
