  1. You've gotten some wonderful ideas and suggestions. I also wanted to throw out there that his learning style may be (probably is) different than the girls. A friend that also has twins went through 4 phonics programs before she found what she needed for both children. The first twin got it from the very first curriculum, but her son took much longer and many different goes at it. Hope you find what works for him and for all of you!
  2. I believe that it's meant to be used with Kers before you start your world history cycles.
  3. We started using AinA this fall, and I'm enjoying it. The chapters are easy to do, and I appreciate the review questions (Although I'm sure I could come up with them myself. Just glad that I don't have to. One less thing, ya' know. :D) I really like their reader suggestions. I've added in some extra art projects here and there and extra chapter books which are slowing us down a bit, but I don't mind if we go into the summer or next school year.
  4. Sheppard software has some fun no pressure math games. http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/math.htm
  5. Yes, both actually... I believe there are 8 to a page. If I were going to use this with lots of kids, I might consider laminating the red, yellow and blue cards as they continue through all the levels. In levels 2 and 3 there are 200 spelling cards each, and they aren't used in multiple levels. I would not be inclined to do those.
  6. Would you feel more comfortable if they each had something to open? Give them each their own half of the gc. I think the jar of m&ms sounds fun, too!
  7. We are enjoying AAS, and I would highly recommend it. I was wondering if doing some more kinesthetic activities would help your daughter instead of purchasing and starting another curriculum. Having her spell her words while she's s jumping rope or spelling them out with pipe cleaners or pretzel dough or having her alternate standing and sitting as she says each letter. She may just need a little different sort of review. ~HTH
  8. There's a note in the copyright info of the WWE workbook that you can make copies for use in your family only. I don't know the actual cost of copying, but it is a legal option.
  9. I was going to say the same thing. The curriculum has great book suggestions (readers and chapter books). We're really enjoying it!!
  10. Thanks for sharing!! We're doing an Am Hist overview, and I think some of that will work in nicely! :001_smile:
  11. I answered other... Full on holiday music starts mid-Novemberish, but I find I miss it a bit in spring/summer and usually have a few days here or there where it makes an appearance. Doesn't usually last long because it feels so out of season (duh!) :D
  12. We're just starting the mad dash right before leaving. I'm hoping it's just a phase. I have books and a couple little things in the car plus brainquest cards, tangoes and pen and notebook in my purse. So he already has alot of things, but he gets bored with them pretty quickly. He's allowed to bring 1 toy with him. It can't be one of the special things he sleeps with or have lots of pieces (he loves alphabet and number sets), and he has to bring it back in with him.
  13. G, are you on the BFSU yahoo group? I know there are mommas there that would love this. :)
  14. A little OT: Have any of you using or trying out pdf expert found that it works with pdfs that are set to no modify/no print?
  15. Did you see that the red eye becomes the symbol for an R rated movie (I think that's what it is)? Despite the age of the ticket giver and receiver, I don't think it was meant for kiddos.
  16. I didn't do AAS until we'd finished the other, but we zoomed through the phonics b/c ds could already read. I just wanted to make sure that we were doing a little something everyday to cover the basics even if it was review.
  17. You can also look over the list Angela made... http://satorismiles.com/curriculum/rso-life-additional-resources/. She's using RSO now but started out with BFSU. She has some good posts about both. (There's a search function on her site to help dig up the posts!)
  18. Is anyone familiar with this curriculum? It's mentioned in math threads. thanks!
  19. :bigear: We've just decided that we're going to be a 2 pad family so I'm all ears about how we can use this for school! Thanks for the wonderful app list and other great ideas!
  20. I just bought Tunes that Teach American History, and it went through quickly. Also, someone had asked if this includes the actual music, and it does include mp3s. :001_smile:
  21. I would at least suggest it and give the director a chance to do that before leaving. So sorry you and your daughter are having to deal with this just to take a dance class!
  22. I would want to observe just to keep my child safe, but I would also let the director know that I was thinking of finding a different studio. In a business like this the real power is in your dollars. You might make more of an impact with the director (especially if more than one family speaks up), if s/he knows that you're considering going somewhere else if this continues. In this world of educating children, there's a real balance to be found between doing what's right for the children and families and paying the bills. The thing that might tip the scale is letting them know that they might be losing your tuition and maybe those of others in the class.
