I am seriousely looking into the ebook thing for my kiddos. So I have brought up this thread and was wondering if anyone could add to it. I am thinking nook if we go down this road then the kiddos can share books. Any other thoughts? Thanks-a-bunch, Helen in OH -
Greetings, Well we are at the end of March. For some of us we have 2 months left to school before we take the summer off. We received a ton of snow this winter so our schedule is off. Right now I am trying to think of strategies to put us back on track. Here are some of mine: 1. Do two spelling units a week. Skit all the workbook pages and focas on the spelling words. 2. Treat Science and History like a read a loud. No science experaments or projects. Does anyone have anyother good ideas to quicken the pace of school before June. Thanks-a-bunch, Helen in Oh

Thank-you for the advice in regards to Calvin. Since my son is a sophmore we still have time to look around at the different schools. Helen in OH

Now I am tinking about changing to Flying Creature of the Fifth Day by Exploring Creation. Does anyone have experience with both and favor one after using it? Thanks-a-bunch, Helen in OH

Great Website for other ideas also. Do you think this might be a great fundraiser for a Bake sale? Helen in OH -
Happy New Year! I like Ree Drummand's Cookbook. I think she very creative and funny. It seems like she embraces life even if it includes cow manure on the back porch. The recipes are simple. A beginner would enjoy the pictures and explanaitions. I am going to use it to teach my boys and girls how to cook in the kitchen. Thank-you Ree for inspirancing other to be creative! Helen in OH

I have never heard of a specific program Love and Logic but I can see the advantages. I have six kiddos. The oldest 3 are boys. When my oldest was 11 I could tell that he was changing in the way that he was thinking. Now that he is 16 he needs help in learning how to evaluate and make decisions. My husband has a logical mind. So it has helped decrease the drama. I could really use a review of logic principles. The teenage boys know how to push your buttons. Yes, I thought about doing an independent study of logic. Now I am going to have to look into Love and Logic. thanks-a-bunch, Helen in OH

Well, I don't belly dance. I have a friend who has been a missionary to Muslims in France. They are now located in Northern Africa. Well, she was a speaker at women's conference for our area. We are part of Presbyterian Church of America. My friend explain that she had to learn how to belly dance to be apart of the culture. The women would get together for Bible study on a weekly basis. About every 4 weeks or so, they would spend the time dancing. She considered it a form of excerise. During the conference, she had a group of conservative Presbyterian women up and dancing. There were no men in the room. It is fun and a great form of excerise. Helen in OH
