DS just got accepted to CU Boulder but it's not looking good for attending. He received some merit aid, but not a lot. We could still send him, but it's probably not worth it due to the other factor, which is he was put into Exploratory Studies and would have to take classes then attempt to transfer into the major he wants.

I don't know if this answers your questions, but DS keeps getting reminders from one of his colleges, but every time he checks the link, none are open in our area. And this is for a school that considers demonstrated interest. At any rate, they keep nudging him.

I think it sounds good, but it's really up to you. It does sound like it's what you were looking for, based on your description. They do require an application for courses, so join the list so you know when summer opens up. In the meantime, you might find a reading group.

They are ages 16+. They have a variety of things, from tutorials (small groups, lots of writing), to reading groups (more flexible, little writing, sometimes local, in-person). They take applications for the tutorials and not everyone gets in. It's more about fit and interest than experience.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Catherine Project, though I haven't taken any classes myself. I think they just closed Spring registration, but summer reg is coming up at the end of March. You can join the email list to be notified.

DS was accepted at Cal Poly Pomona last night. This was a surprise since he was expecting to hear in March.

As far as I know, yes you would use the mid-year report tab to add any new information for common appschools. But if you have a school requesting a portal upload, I would do both, esp if you have other schools on the common app.

Some people (not DS) are already getting SDSU acceptances in their portals but not via email. It seems they started an early release of good news (no rejections) yesterday and it's continued today.

Ds finally got one in last night. He plans to do another tomorrow and some more Sunday. Fingers crossed...

Forgot to mention not to forget mid-year reports!

DS continues to drag his feet on honors essays. He's perfectly capable of buckling down and busting out work, but if he has a lot of time to do it, he allows the work to fill all the time. He's always liked structure I guess. In some ways it reminds me of when I try to park in an empty lot. Too many choices and somehow I end up struggling to decide and having to adjust my parking job. With the structure of other cars around, it's easy.

I'm in the middle of updating DS's transcript now that his dual enrollment grades are available. It's easy enough for me to send or upload to his colleges. What I don't know if whether I also need to send his cc transcripts for fall via Parchment, or if putting those grades on my transcript is enough. It's not hard to do, it just adds up.

DS continues to work on honors college applications. He was derailed by getting sick but he's still hoping to finish the non-invitation applications he can initiate before cc begins in a couple of weeks.

DS now has all the applications in and is turning toward writing honors college applications after the holiday tomorrow. He's pretty burned out at this point. Online applications make it so easy for schools to add more and more compared to ye olde paper applications. Every time it seems one is getting close to the end, there's another box, another signature, another residential college sorting, another PDF....
