  1. I have been doing FAIR for the last two weeks, but it honestly does not feel like "much". I have not even herd of OPG, and never looked at 100 EZ..........the lapbook ideas might be the ticket. I am going to look into that. Thanks so much, Julie
  2. My dd, today 5 is uninterested in any type of schooling, aside from me reading to her or a craft. We have used Explode the Code, Vetitas Press, Bob Jones workbook and various others, but it is like pulling teeth to get her to do any of it. There are so many positive comments about Horizons PK I was wondering if it was worth a try? Do you need the whole shi-bang or could you get by with just the workwbook? I hate to invest more $$ on unproductive curricula. Thanks, Julie
  3. Good Morning, Teaching Textbooks certainly has developed a reputation of not being as advanced as its competitiors. I questioned them on this and they told me that some people confuse "ease of learining with rigor." I have used TT 6 and 7, however, went with Chalkdust Prealgebra. The TT Algebra 2 covers about 1/2 the material of a Saxon text. It sounds like you may have a mathy kid, you probably want too keep him challenged. I did a bit of research before I jumped ship with TT and at the end of the day it appeared to me that TT could get you resonable math scores on the standard tests, but was probably not enough if you have a kid headed towards a career where the knowledge of advanced math will be crucial. Hope that helps. Julie
  4. Carolina Biological Supply Company, you can get all kinds of crazy stuff there. Julie
  5. Has anyone ever used this with Sonlight? Spcifically 5? The eastern hemisphere at H and H looks great, but I hate to shell out the money if it is not a good match. Thanks, Julie
  6. Daily Grams are great for Daily punctuation review, however I do not reccomend Easy Grammar, I don't think there is enough explanation to give a kid a good foundation, but your right it does look straight forward. If you are looking for something simple, clean, and straight forward try Winston Grammar. After a year of using it my kids know all parts of speech, a year of Easy Grammar netted us very little in that respect. My Two Cents, Julie
  7. I have not herd smashing review about SOS, however, we have had great luck with Rosetta Stone Spanish and LFC for Latin. Julie
  8. Jacob Algebra users, how is this text to use given there is no solutions manual? We are finishing up Teaching Textbooks Math 7 and are exploring other options, have read various glowing reviews of Jacobs. I would love to hear any oppinion on a pre. alg. math. Thanks, Julie
