  1. I personally would be comfortable with that. And keep windows open/airflow as good as it can be.
  2. For official quarantine in my state, one can be released from quarantine on day 8 if no symptoms and negative test on day 6 or 7, with the day of exposure being day 0. For days 8 through day 14, one is supposed to be masked and 3-6 feet distanced. Because of the high positivity rate only PCRs are accepted, not antigen testing for this "early release" protocol. (Until last week, antigen or PCR was acceptable). The risk of transmission on days 8-14 is between 5-12%. Note this is for UNVAXXED. For close contacts who are vaxxed, they don't need to Q unless symptomatic, and testing is recommended on day 3-5. I was reading somewhere (and I'm sorry I don't remember where, that vaxxed individuals are not contagious as long as unvaxxed, even when they are positive.) I'm so sorry you are having to make decisions like this.
  3. Can I tell you how much I LOVE that you have family kickball games, and participation from multiple generations? What fun memories you are making.
  4. The quarantine instructions in my contact tracing class were first day of symptoms was Day 0, out on Day 11. (Therefore it appears he may be out and about Saturday, if first sx was 8/3) https://doh.sd.gov/COVID/Calculator/default.aspx
  5. Not yet mentioned, and not exactly a Costco product, but we get our auto/home insurance through Costco--the company is now called "Connect powered by American Family Insurance. Every two years I re- price insurance, and it always has come out significantly cheaper using the Costco discount. It more than pays for the Costco membership. We have not had to make a claim, so I can't speak to how good the company is for that.
  6. DD got her period at 10, breast buds maybe a year before that? I myself was much later (14), so it was alarming to me, but didn't meet precocious definition. She stopped growing in height around age 14, at 5' 1. No female on either side of the family is less than 5' 4, and her dad 5' 11. I'm still not convinced I didn't contribute to the earlier puberty by microwave-heating a "milk sippie" in a plastic sippie cup containing BPH daily for the first 5 years of her life. Then I learned there was danger heating things in plastic. My understanding is BPH is a hormone disrupter. I really haven't done more research, cause I don't want to know what I can't do anything about at this point...

Did one of the Clementine books introduce a baby sibling? I think so, but it's been awhile. Those books kinda reminded me of Ramona. ETA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clementine_(series)#:~:text=6 External links-,Premise,of cooperation and characteristic imperfections. Either Clementine and the Family Meeting, Completely Clementine, or both??
  8. High school girls that I know wear a lot of black leggings or jeggings or denim of some kind with assorted tees/hoodies. Lots of mixing and matching there.
  9. We had an event like this supposedly generate a lot of cases at our high school--but in talking to some involved, many/all of the kids who were cases also carpooled, went to someone's house afterwards to watch a movie, were on the same hockey team etc. I am NOT worried about outdoor transmission based on the data.
  10. I was going to put my recipe for Honey Mustard Chicken, and then saw that Whitetavern above has the exact same recipe with a different name-Chicken Diable sounds much fancier! This is a universal favorite around here. I make it for company if they have picky kids and it usually goes over well. I usually don't bake the whole hour or the meat is too dry (30-45 mins depending on thickness). We pour the sauce over rice. Yum! All it dirties is a few measuring implements and a 9x13 pan.
  11. My colleague had Pfizer back in Feb, and had a sore arm around the injection site for a long time (like needing to sleep on other side, feeling it when playing tennis, general tenderness). I just asked her about it again yesterday, and she said just in the last week she thinks it's better. She had no rash/bruising/itchiness--just the soreness.
  12. This one is aimed at even younger than the children's Bible's above: https://www.christianbook.com/the-bible-in-pictures-for-toddlers/ella-lindvall/9780802430588/pd/30589?event=ESRCN
  13. I would return if I were fully vaccinated, especially if other mitigation measures are in place like distancing and ventilation. If I was being extra cautious, I would wait until most/all of the other members were vaxxed as well. (Here many of the 65+ STILL are waiting for 2nd vaccine, and my life--with job, kids in school FT, husband (yet unvaxxed due to availability and teaching college)--make me more risky than if everyone around me was fairly isolated still.)
  14. Just clarifying-per the CDC, the person WITH Covid only needs to isolate for 10 days (not 14) from the start of symptoms or positive test, whichever was first. After that they cannot spread disease if they have been fever free for 24 hours and have improved symptoms. I would NOT have him retest. Someone who was positive may continue to have positive tests for up to 90 days, and NOT be contagious.
  15. I'd read that as they will match what you put in at a 15% rate--eg, if you put in $100, they add $15. Not sure about the max wording.
  16. Our family really liked Foyle's War, about a police inspector on the British homefront during WW2, filmed in the early 2000's maybe?. There were murders to solve, but I can't stomach NCIS graphic types, and these were not like that. My teens and husband enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery, and I enjoyed the characters.
  17. Amen, eaglei. May God hold you and your loved ones near in this time. I'm so sorry for the recent loss of your husband. Grief on top of grief, yet joy that he and your son are together in heaven, and that you will see them again.
  18. The article your son wrote is beautiful, and shows the incredible love and faith of your family. May God continue to comfort you all in your loss.
  19. This is probably behind a paywall, but the NY Times has a graph that shows with vaccination rollout, new infections will be very, very low by June/July, if I'm reading the chart right. (And I hope I am!!) https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/01/24/us/covid-vaccine-rollout.html?action=click&algo=bandit-all-surfaces-geo3-alpha-02&block=more_in_recirc&fellback=false&imp_id=87734457&impression_id=548fdb12-5f48-11eb-9b77-e7b6eb357ca6&index=3&pgtype=Article&region=footer&req_id=499713371&surface=more-in-us-news&variant=4_bandit-all-surfaces-geo3-alpha-02
  20. So fun! Thanks for sharing that.
  21. I am so sorry. Prayers for you all.
  22. I haven't read the whole thread--maybe this has already been mentioned. When I got my vaccine yesterday I was given a flyer asking me to participate in the CDC v-safe program, which is an app that sends text messages at intervals post vaccine (daily x1 week after injection, then every week x5 weeks, and at 3, 6 and 12 months after the last dose). I think this is a great way for them to gets tons of data on the "safety" of the vaccine. My colleagues that were vaccinated in another location got the brochure as well. (And FYI, I got Moderna, and only complaint is mildly sore arm at injection site)
  23. Echoing Katie, quoted above. The earliest this guy can be out of quarantine is 8 days. Close contacts need to quarantine a minimum of 7 days after their last contact with the positive person--so out of Q beginning day 8. (The CDC prefers 14 days, but is allowing early out in cases where extended Q causes hardship. ) The day of last contact is Day 0. Needs to have NO symptoms and to test negative on day 5-7 of Q with a PCR (in some states like IL they want the PCR on day 6 or 7, not day 5). So if this guy moves out of the house, and doesn't see wife or kids until 10 days after the last of them either starts symptoms or tests positive, he can go back to work in significantly less time. Not sure if it's better for the marriage/family to provide financially, or help with sick kids. And if mom gets sick and can't take care of kids, he would need to break quarantine and step in and start the Q clock over...
